Beat the heat

Dear Parents and Carers

As the warmer weather continues, we would like to remind all parents and carers of the importance of preparing children appropriately for hot and sunny days at school.

When children are outside at break times, lunch times and during outdoor learning, they can be exposed to strong sun even during relatively short periods. To help keep everyone safe and comfortable, we kindly ask for your support with the following:

We will allow children to come to school in their PE uniform, however please be reminded that no branded items of clothing should be worn. 

Please ensure your child arrives at school wearing a sun hat. A cap or wide-brimmed hat is ideal and will help provide protection during outdoor activities throughout the day. Please can all sun hats be labelled with your child's name, so that it is easy to return to your child if it gets lost.

We also ask that sun cream is applied before children leave for school in the morning. As staff are unable to apply sun cream for children, it is important that this is done at home as part of your morning routine on sunny days.

Children should also bring a refillable water bottle each day so they can stay hydrated, especially during periods of hot weather. We will continue to encourage regular water breaks and ensure children have access to shade wherever possible.
