What a great week it has been at Church Hill! After the excitement of last week’s inspection, it has been wonderful to see both children and staff throw themselves back into ‘normality’ and the usual routines of school life. It has been lovely to see some of the super work our children have been so proud to share with me, and I have been incredibly impressed by how keen they are to engage in their learning, challenge themselves and always do their very best. Keep up the great work, Church Hill children – you are amazing!

Book Recommendation
Reading is core across our whole school and that is no different when we think about our wellbeing and emotions. Books help us to see our own feelings– making us laugh, cry, worry and know that we are not alone.
Ruby’s Worry by Tom Percival is an excellent book to share with children of all ages about how sharing your worries– no matter how big or small– with a trusted person will help them feel smaller and more manageable.
Tom Percival has an excellent range of picture books looking at a number of feelings including anger and loneliness, making friends and not giving up – check them out!
Look, Notice, Talk!
As the seasons change, take a few minutes to talk with your child about what they can see happening around them.
On the way to school, during a walk or even looking out of the window, ask:
What signs of autumn can you see?
What has changed since summer?
Why do you think the leaves change colour?
How does the weather affect people, animals and plants?
What is your favourite thing about autumn? Why?
🍁 Chatter Matters Challenge: Find three autumn changes and encourage your child to explain why they think each change happens.
Individual & Sibling photos
Just a reminder that individual and siblings photos will be taking place on Tuesday 29th September. Please make sure all children arrive at school promptly and are in full and correct school uniform. If your child's class usually has PE on a Tuesday, please send them to school in full uniform (not PE kit) with their trainers in a bag.
On photography day, the school invites families with siblings not in the school, to a family session in the morning from 8:15am-9:00am. If you would like to have a family photo taken, please arrive at the schhol office between 8:15am - 9:00am, where you will sign in and then taken to have your photos taken.
