End of Year Message
As we reach the end of another school year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly fabulous and productive year at Church Hill.
It has been an absolute pleasure to watch our children learn, grow and flourish over the course of the year. Not only have they made fantastic academic progress, but they have also developed in confidence, maturity and character. Every single child should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved through their hard work, determination and enthusiasm.
Our pupils have represented Church Hill brilliantly at a wide range of external events throughout the year. We have received nothing but positive feedback from event organisers and members of the public, who have consistently commented on our children's excellent behaviour, kindness, sportsmanship and positive attitudes. They have been wonderful ambassadors for our school, and we are immensely proud of them.
Our Year 4 and Year 6 pupils also embraced their residential visits with enthusiasm and courage, making the very most of every opportunity. They threw themselves into every activity on offer (sometimes quite literally!) and demonstrated resilience, teamwork and a real sense of adventure. They were absolute superstars and created memories that I know will stay with them for years to come.
I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to all of our families for your continued support throughout the year. Your encouragement, partnership and commitment to our school community make such a positive difference, and we are incredibly grateful.
I wish all of our families a safe, relaxing and fun-filled summer break. To those families who will be leaving Church Hill at the end of this week, we thank you for being part of our community and wish you every success and happiness for the future. To everyone returning in the autumn, we look forward to welcoming you back through our gates on Wednesday 2nd September for another exciting year of learning and achievement.
Have a wonderful summer!
Miss Porter
Congratulations to Ruby House!
A huge congratulations to Ruby House for earning the highest number of House Points this term! As a reward for their fantastic effort, teamwork and positive attitude, Ruby House enjoyed their well-deserved House Winners' Party on Wednesday afternoon.
The children had a wonderful time celebrating with the staff responsible for Ruby House, Miss Pritchett and Miss K. It was fantastic to see pupils from Reception through to Year 6 coming together to celebrate their success, enjoying the afternoon as one house community.
Well done to everyone in Ruby House on this fantastic achievement – keep up the great work!
First week back
Unusually, there will be only one INSET (staff training) day at the beginning of the new school year. This will take place on Tuesday 1st September, and therefore children are not expected to attend school on this day.
This means that all children in Years 1–6 are expected to return to school at 8:50am on Wednesday 2nd September.
As we reach the end of another school year, take a few minutes to chat together about the year that's been.
Try these questions:
What has been your favourite memory from school this year?
What is something new you have learned?
What are you most proud of?
What are you looking forward to during the summer holidays?
Oracy Challenge: Ask a follow-up question, such as "Why was that your favourite?" or "Can you tell me more?"
Thank you for supporting Chatter Matters this year. Every conversation helps children grow in confidence, develop their vocabulary and become thoughtful listeners. We wish all our families a wonderful summer break!
Reminder: Lunch Arrangements
A polite reminder that the lunch choice made at the beginning of each half term must remain in place for the duration of that half term.
Unfortunately, it is not possible for children to switch between packed lunches and school dinners more frequently than this. Our catering provider orders food for the entire half term based on the choices submitted at the start of the term. If children change between packed lunches and school dinners more frequently, it can result in either significant food waste or insufficient food being available for those who have ordered a school meal.
For this reason, we kindly ask parents and carers to carefully consider their child's lunch arrangement before the start of each half term, as changes cannot be accommodated once the half term has begun.
Please do not ask the school office to alter your child's lunch choice during the half term, as staff will unfortunately have to decline these requests. We appreciate that this may be disappointing, but adhering to this policy helps ensure the catering service runs fairly and efficiently for all pupils and avoids placing office staff in the difficult position of having to refuse requests.
Thank you for your understanding, cooperation and continued support.

Free Breakfast at Morrisons
With many families facing increased financial pressure over the summer holidays, we'd like to highlight a nationwide initiative that could provide immediate support in your local community. We're delighted to let you know that throughout the summer holidays, families can access free Kellogg's breakfasts in all Morrisons Cafes everyday
‘Breakfast Clubs’ are back to help kids and grown-ups enjoy a free Kellogg’s breakfast during the summer holidays at all Morrisons Cafés nationwide
Initiative aims to ease money worries during school holidays
New research reveals that parents will begin to feel the financial ‘pinch’ around week three of the summer break
Morrisons and Kellogg’s have announced the return of their school holiday ‘Breakfast Clubs’, offering free meals to families across the UK to help ease the financial pressure over the summer holidays. As schools close for the summer holidays, many parents face a financial pinch, with new research from Morrisons showing that more than half (54%) of parents feel the strain during the long summer period. In fact, “week three” of the school holidays is the critical tipping point where the financial impact is most acutely felt by households.
Almost half (48%) of parents also confessed they have been forced to skip meals entirely just to make ends meet and ensure their child does not go without – with breakfast being the number one thing cut from the menu. Families visiting their local Morrisons Café throughout the summer holidays can enjoy a free ‘Kellogg’s Breakfast’, which includes a bowl of cereal and a portion of fruit. The best part, it’s not just for kids, adults get to eat completely free too.
Both kids and adults can choose from much-loved favourites Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies, topped with their choice of dairy or non-dairy milk and a free apple or banana. The summer holiday offer will be available from 29th June to 6th September across all Morrisons Cafes nationwide*. The research also highlighted that alongside the financial strain, parents are also dealing with the repetitive demands of children at home during the holidays. By reopening the ‘Breakfast Clubs’ across the school summer holidays, when term-time clubs do not run, Morrisons and Kellogg’s are providing families with a welcoming space to enjoy a balanced breakfast together, helping to ease financial strain and rumbling tummies, while a trip to the local supermarket will help keep kids entertained.
