Church Hill Ofsted Report and CHSA AGM
We would like to remind parents and carers that you are warmly invited to join us at 6:15pm on Monday 19th October for a short presentation about Church Hill’s Ofsted report, followed by an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. We hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend.
Following this meeting, the CHSA (Church Hill School Association) will be holding its AGM, and we would love as many parents and carers as possible to stay and show their support. The CHSA does an amazing job of fundraising to provide additional opportunities and resources for our children, and the support of our school community is absolutely vital to help them continue this fantastic work.
We look forward to seeing you then.
Thank you for your continued support!
Year 5's Visit to the Science Museum
Year 5 were absolutely fabulous on our trip to the Science Museum! From exploring the incredible hands-on activities in the Wonderlab to getting stuck into our exciting 'Mission to Space' workshop, the children embraced every opportunity with curiosity and enthusiasm. They listened attentively, contributed brilliantly and loved discovering more about the wonders of space.
Year 5 also loved using the school cameras to capture special moments and take photos, creating wonderful memories of their brilliant day! Their beaming smiles and excitement made the day truly special and they represented our school beautifully throughout. We are so proud of the way they approached every activity with such positivity and a wonderful attitude.
What a gorgeous bunch of budding scientists you are, Year 5! You were a real credit to the school!
Wellbeing Day
We are delighted to announce that on Wednesday 21st October all of the children will be taking part in a Wellbeing Day. For the day we are asking for a £1 contribution via School Money as it will be delivered by a drama/dance company called Magical Minds.
Their focus on this occasion will be Mindfulness - which the children will explore through dance. An outline of our day is as follows;
The day will begin with a whole-school assembly performance at 10:00am, including a Q&A session.
This will be followed by six Dancing Mindfulness workshops for children across Years 1-6.
Your support for this very exciting day is very much appreciated
Inclusion Matters
Just a reminder that BICS runs a number of virtual workshops. These workshops aim to increase your knowledge of common wellbeing and mental health difficulties faced by children and young people. They also aim to provide you with strategies to assist you in supporting your young person.
On Wednesday 14th October 12:00 – 13:30 and Wednesday 21st October 12.00 – 13.30pm BICS are running a two part workshop on ‘Understanding and Managing Anxiety’.
The two virtual mental health workshops aim to increase your knowledge on anxiety and provide you with some skills and strategies to assist your young person in coping with their anxiety.
This workshop is aimed at parents and carers of children and young people, but professionals or anyone working with children and young people are also welcome to attend.
Part 1 will focus on: what anxiety is, how anxiety can develop, and what maintains anxiety.
Part 2 will build upon this, specifically looking at: understanding anxious thoughts and behaviours, strategies to challenge anxious thoughts and behaviours, signposting, and helpful other resources.
There will be opportunities throughout the workshop for reflection and discussion.
Please ensure you sign up for both parts using the following link:

This week, we are celebrating Just One Tree Day and exploring how our words can make a difference! Encourage your child to talk about why trees are so important for our planet, from providing homes for wildlife to helping us breathe.
Talk about it at home:
Can your child explain why planting trees is important? Challenge them to persuade you to plant a tree using three powerful reasons!
Vocabulary to explore: Environment, habitat, deforestation, oxygen and sustainability.
Remember, every conversation helps children develop their vocabulary, build confidence and express their ideas.
Important Reminder: Playground Safety after school
We would like to remind all parents and carers that children must not climb the apple tree on the grassy area of the KS1 entrance or use the gym equipment located in the playground and near the astroturf once they have been collected at the end of the school day. This is important for two reasons.
Firstly, for health and safety reasons, it is not safe for children to use the gym equipment without close supervision from school staff and the tree is unsafe to climb.
Secondly, we want to encourage our children to respect and care for the natural environment. Fruit-bearing trees have weaker, more brittle wood than many other trees, and climbing can cause branches to break, resulting in lasting damage to the tree. We would be grateful if parents and carers could support us by reinforcing these expectations with their children and helping us to keep our playground safe while protecting the natural environment for everyone to enjoy.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.
