Attention Autism
We are working on launching Attention Autism sessions—a fun, high-energy program designed to capture and build the attention of our autistic learners. To make this a success, we need your help! We are looking for "Cause and Effect" toys. These are toys where a simple action (like pressing a button) creates an immediate, exciting result (like lights, music, or movement). They are essential for teaching our children how their actions affect the world around them.
We are looking for donations of:
light-up and musical toys, such as pop-up boxes, light-up spinning tops, or musical buttons
action toys, such as Marble runs, wind-up toys, or "stomp rockets"
sensory items such as, bubble machines
If you have any of these gathering dust at home, please consider donating them to us as they will help our students develop vital skills like curiosity and joint attention.
We are also hoping to launch Lego-Based Therapy sessions!
This isn't just about playing with lego; it's a social skills intervention where students work in teams as "Engineers," "Suppliers," and "Builders" to complete a project.
This therapy helps our students improve their communication, turn-taking, and teamwork in a way that feels like play rather than work.
We are in need of standard Lego bricks (not Duplo). We aren't necessarily looking for complete sets - loose bricks and baseplates, are extremely valuable for this project to be launched.
Please drop off donations at the school office.
We kindly ask that bricks are clean and genuine Lego brand to ensure they fit together properly.
Your old bricks could help a child build their confidence.
Thank you for your support.

Support Our Summer Fair with Hunters Boards
We’re delighted to share that Hunters Estate Agents (Russell Lane office) have kindly agreed to sponsor our Summer Fair!
They will donate £15 for every household that agrees to have a Hunters Estate Agents advertising board displayed outside their property in the lead-up to the fair.
Hunters Estate Agents will handle all installation and removal, so there’s little to no effort required from you — just sign up and provide your address.
If you’re happy to take part, please email churchhillschoolassociation@gmail.com with your address and any additional information (for example, if you have a preferred location for the board), by Monday 18th May 2026.
Please note that in some cases installation may involve drilling, so if you have any specific instructions on where the board should be placed, do include this in your email.
Thank you for your support!
With only 1 week to go until half term holidays, we wanted to inform that we have accumulated a large amount of lost property this term. All items will be displayed on tables outside the school office, in the last week before half term. Please come by and check for any of your child’s misplaced belongings. Any items remaining after Friday 22nd May will be donated or disposed of.
Chatter Matters
IT’S GOOD TO TALK!
“Would you rather” questions are a fun and engaging way to encourage critical thinking and imagination. This week’s questions for discussion are . . .
Would you rather listen to a story about animals or about space?
Would you rather listen to bees buzzing or crows cawing?
Would you rather complete a science experiment or a craft activity?
Jewellery
For health and safety reasons, we kindly remind parents and carers that children should not wear jewellery to school, with the exception of small stud earrings. Items such as hoops, necklaces, bracelets, and rings can pose a significant risk during play, PE lessons, and other school activities. We appreciate your support in helping us keep all children safe and comfortable at school.
Thanks
Jo
