Following our recent Ofsted inspection, we would like to invite parents and carers to join us at 6:15pm on Monday 19th October at Church Hill for a meeting with our senior leaders.
During the meeting, we will provide further detail and context around the judgements made across the seven areas in which the school was inspected and evaluated. This will be an opportunity for you to gain a deeper understanding of the inspection findings, receive additional information about the report and ask any questions you may have.
Following the Ofsted Report meeting, we warmly invite you to stay for the Church Hill School Association (CHSA) Annual General Meeting (AGM). You will hear about some of the exciting events the CHSA hopes to organise during the coming school year and have the opportunity to get involved in whatever way you can. The CHSA does an amazing job of supporting our children and school community, and any time, ideas or help you are able to offer would be greatly appreciated.
The CHSA will kindly provide snacks and drinks during both events.
We hope that as many parents and carers as possible will be able to join us for what we hope will be an informative and positive evening. We look forward to seeing lots of you there!

Just One Tree Day
We’re delighted to be taking part in Just One Tree Day for the fourth year running!
Thanks to everyone’s support over the past three years, we have already helped to plant an incredible 692 trees. Our entire school’s forest will now remove approximately 213.14 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere over the next 25 years! What an amazing impact we are making together.
On Friday 16th October, we’re asking everyone to wear green for £1.
Every £1 donated will represent one tree being planted, helping to restore forests, support communities and make a positive difference to our planet. Please make all donations through SchoolMoney.
So, dig out your favourite green outfit, bring in your £1 and join us in growing our tree total!
Let’s see how many more trees we can plant together! 🌳💚
Today everyone wore yellow for ‘Hello Yellow’ day. Your donations today will support help to stop young people feeling along with their mental health.
There are days when all of us struggle with how we are feeling. Things can get tough, and it can be difficult knowing how to cope.
For so many young people, when this happens, they don’t always get the help they need, when they need it.
They don’t know where to turn, who to talk to, or even if anyone else feels the same.
The YoungMinds website provides a range of information, advice as well as resources including wellbeing activities, toolkits and webinars to help parents support the young people in your lives.
On Thursday Mia from Food Bank Aid came into both Brunswick Park and Churchill School to tell us all about the work our local food bank does. She has teamed up with Year 4, who have all been reading ‘The great food bank heist’ this half term, so this is a cause close to their hearts.
The year 4 classes in both schools are going to be asking for donations so we can all support this wonderful charity and help others. There will be collection points in front of the year 4 classrooms and in front reception.
They ask that you please donate only dry store goods, such as: cereal, rice, pasta, tin foods, long life milk. The collection point will close on the 16th October, so that we can deliver before half term.
Thank you in advance for any donations you can give.
Tomorrow, Saturday 10th October, is World Mental Health Day - a wonderful opportunity to remember just how important it is to talk about our feelings and, most importantly, to listen to one another.
At school, we know that communication is about so much more than learning new words. It is about helping children express their thoughts and feelings, build friendships, develop confidence and feel understood. Sometimes, simply having someone who takes the time to listen can make all the difference.
This week, why not make a little extra time for conversation at home? Whether you are chatting on the way to school, sharing stories at bedtime or talking about the best part of your day, these everyday moments help children develop their language while supporting their emotional wellbeing.
Try asking your child:
What made you smile today?
Was there anything that felt tricky?
What is something you are proud of?
How did you show kindness to someone today?
Remember, there is no need to have all the answers. Giving children the time and space to talk, listening without judgement and helping them find the words for their feelings can be incredibly powerful.
This World Mental Health Day, let’s celebrate the power of our voices, the importance of listening and the little conversations that help us feel connected.
At Church Hill, we believe that working in partnership with our families is an important part of helping every child to thrive. We are therefore excited to be increasing the opportunities for parents and carers to come into school and become even more involved in their children's learning journey!
We are planning to introduce a range of informative and fun workshops to help you feel confident in supporting your children's learning at home. These sessions will provide practical ideas, helpful guidance and opportunities to explore ways of making learning enjoyable beyond the classroom.
Alongside these workshops, we are also looking forward to offering termly opportunities for parents and carers to visit their children's classrooms. These special sessions will give your children the chance to share some of the learning they are particularly proud of with you, celebrate their achievements and show you what they have been working on in school.
We will share further information about both of these exciting opportunities in the coming weeks, including details of dates and how you can get involved.
We hope that as many families as possible will take advantage of these opportunities. We look forward to welcoming you into school, celebrating your children's successes together and continuing to strengthen the partnership between home and school that makes such a difference to our children's learning and development!
