The workshop will be held in Haus 28, Raum 0.108 (on the ground floor) on the Golm campus of Uni Potsdam.
There is no charge for registration for CGSW 38, neither for presenters nor other attendees. However, we kindly request that all non-presenting attendees fill out our registration form (link will be added soon) so that we can plan accurately. (Presenters: please note that you should not fill out this form. Instead, please fill out the form that we sent out via email, no later than July 15.)
Golm can be reached by regional train or bus from central Potsdam; by train, the stop is Bahnhof Golm (easily reachable from Potsdam Hauptbahnhof or Potsdam Charlottenhof), and by bus (line 605 or 695), either Bahnhof Golm or Science Park/Universität. To reach Golm, you will need a Potsdam AB ticket or a Berlin ABC ticket (or, of course, a Deutschlandticket). Tickets can be purchased at train stations or on board the bus, or using the Deutsche Bahn app or bahn.de. Google Maps and (especially) the DB app can give you the most up-to-date information on best routes to Golm.
Currently, due to track repairs, there are no direct trains running between Berlin and Golm. For this reason, we encourage CGSW participants to consider staying in Potsdam. For participants less familiar with Berlin/Potsdam, we also strongly encourage them to look up transit times before booking accommodation, as geographical proximity often does not correlate with best transit times.
In Potsdam, it would be straightforward to reach Golm from (for example) the Innenstadt, Luisenplatz, or Hauptbahnhof areas of the city. For example, we know of visitors who have had positive experiences at the Mercure, the Maxx by Steigenberger, and the B&B Hotel. Of course, you should feel free to look for other options as well.
In Berlin, you will likely have the easiest time getting to Golm from along the S7 line, e.g., from near Charlottenburg, Zoologischer Garten, or Berlin Hauptbahnhof. However, as there are currently no fast trains running between Berlin Hauptbahnhof and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof (or, for the most part, to Golm), we highly recommend that you look up current transit times to get an estimate before booking.
In either case, we recommend that you book your accommodation well in advance, as hotels can fill up during tourist season.
Lunch options are limited in Golm. The easiest option is the Mensa (dining hall) on the Golm campus, though it is also possible to visit the Rewe supermarket next to campus as an alternative. Please note that the Mensa only accepts cash. There is a Sparkasse ATM near Bahnhof Golm should you need to withdraw cash while in Golm.
