Information for talk presenters: The room on both days will have a projector to display slides. If you are using slides for your talk, please bring your own laptop or your presentation on a USB stick. If you have a Mac, please bring an AV adapter if you have one. For those of you planning to use handouts, we estimate that around 30 people will attend the workshop each day. So use this as an estimate for the number of copies to make. Note that the workshop will not be run in a hybrid format, so there is no virtual audience to worry about.
Information for poster presenters: If you are giving a poster presentation, the ideal dimensions for the poster would be A0 portrait or A1 landscape. If you have already planned/printed an A0 landscape poster, please let me know. There are limited options for printing posters on campus at short notice. If you are planning to print your poster in Chicago, please also get in touch with us and I can try to help you arrange this.
Location:
The workshop will take place at the main university campus in Hyde Park. On Friday, it will be in the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts (map). On Saturday, it will take place in Rosenwald Hall (map). See the program for more details.

Travel:
For those of you staying in Hyde Park, both of these locations should be within comfortable walking distance of where you are staying. If walking isn't an option, there are also some buses within Hyde Park that run close to campus (e.g. the 55 along 55th St.). Since several attendees will be staying downtown, I will mention the various options for getting to campus from there:
The fastest way is by car, i.e. taxi/Lyft/Uber. Since there are least 8 people staying at Palmer House, carpooling might be a good option to get to/from campus.
Alternatively, there are good public transport links from downtown. The number 6 bus runs frequently and goes directly from downtown to Hyde Park. However, it does not take you all the way to campus, so you would need to either walk from 55th St. (approx. 10-15 mins) or change onto another bus in Hyde Park. The number 4/X4 bus runs less frequently but is an option that stops close to the university campus. The number 2 bus also goes to campus, but only runs during rush hour.
Alternatively, you can take the CTA subway (`L'), i.e. the Red Line train (Monroe is the nearest station to Palmer House) to Garfield and then change to the 55. Another option is to take the Green Line to Garfield and then the 55 (but note that this is a different station). Both the bus and subway require a Ventra card to pay (info). You buy a Ventra card at the machine at any train station and view/top up your balance there. You cannot buy them on buses (paying in cash is an option if you have the exact change, $2.25). You can also download the Ventra app and pay using your phone (if it is NTC capable). The app is also a good way to check/top up your balance for transit while you are in Chicago.
The final option for getting to Hyde Park from downtown is to use the Metra. This is a commuter train that runs from Millennium Station (map) and stops at the University campus 59th St University. Bear in mind that you cannot use your Ventra card on Metra trains. You require a different ticket. This can be bought in the Ventra app, however, and validated onboard using the app. Alternatively, you can buy a paper ticket at the station before you board the train (buying a ticket on the train from the conductor is considerably more expensive).
