The easiest way to reach Mytilini is by plane. There are daily direct flights from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos to Mytilini International Airport Odysseas Elytis, with a flight time of approximately 1 hour. Some flights are also available from Thessaloniki Airport Makedonia, and additional seasonal connections may operate from other European cities.
The airport is located about 10–15 minutes from the city center by taxi or local transport.
Mytilini is also accessible by ferry from Port of Piraeus, the main port of Athens. Ferry journeys typically take 10–14 hours and often operate overnight. There are also connections from Kavala and Thessaloniki (seasonal).
