The Colloquium on Generative Grammar (CGG) is an annual conference held in the Iberian peninsula since 1991. It provides a platform for linguists working in Generative grammar all over the world to come together and discuss current trends and topics in syntax, morphology, semantics, phonology and their interfaces. The 35th Colloquium on Generative Grammar (CGG35) will be organized by Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and will take place as an in-person meeting from May 27 to May 29, 2026 in Barcelona, Catalonia.
For the main session, submissions on any aspect of Generative Grammar are welcome. Invited speakers: Norma Schifano (U. of Cambridge), and more to be confirmed.
Besides the main session, on May 27, there will also be a Workshop on syntactic variation in minoritized and minority Romance languages: advances, challenges and applications. Proposals that address one of the following axes are especially welcome: (i) understudied or previously undetected syntactic phenomena in one (or more) of these languages and their implications for grammatical theory; (ii) the role of dialectal diversity in normative recommendations and its potential to valorise local varieties; (iii) the pedagogical impact of linguistic variation in non-university classrooms, transforming how languages, grammar, and human cognition are approached.
!!! If an abstract is to be considered specifically for the workshop, the same submission guidelines apply; however, please precede the title of the abstract with the word “WORKSHOP” in red.
