CGAS Qt Manager is a laboratory data management application for clinical gait analysis. It stores patient assessments, C3D files, motion graphs, spatiotemporal values, EMG data, groups, reports, and cycle quality rankings in a MySQL database while keeping everyday laboratory workflows fast and clear.
The application supports both traditional C3D imports and Motion Connect harmonised data imports.
Sign in with your CGAS application account.
Open Data Manager.
Select or create a patient and assessment.
Add C3D files, or validate and import a Motion Connect folder.
Review imported gait cycles and save the accepted cycles.
Check metadata, spatiotemporal values, and cycle quality ranks.
Create or apply CGAS groups.
Use Plot Graphs to prepare reports and graph output.
You need access to CGAS Qt Manager, a working MySQL database connection, and a CGAS working folder containing configuration files and managed folders such as _C3D_FILES, _EXPORT_DATA, _EXPORT_GROUP, and report output folders.
Mokka should be installed and configured if you want to view C3D gait animations.

Click Add in Patients / Persons.
Enter surname, first name, DOB, and sex.
Click Save.
Select the patient.
Click Add in Assessments.
Enter assessment date, description, referral, and lab.
Click Save.
Use clear and consistent assessment descriptions because group names and filters may use the assessment description.
Select the patient and assessment.
Click Add in Assessment C3Ds.
Select one or more C3D files.
The application creates records and stores managed copies under _C3D_FILESAxID.
OK: the file is available for use.
OK File: file storage is available and acceptable.
File Only: legacy file-only state.
Blank: file is missing or unavailable.
Use the motion capture icon button to open the C3D file in Mokka.
Select the C3D record.
Choose Import Type: All, Kinematics, or Kinetics.
Click Import.
Review the plotted gait cycles.
Use the Kin and Kinet checkboxes to decide which cycles to save.
Click Save Selected or Accept All.
Selected kinematics and kinetics lines are shown in colour.
Unselected lines are shown in grey dotted style.
Click a plotted line to select the related gait cycle.
Double-click a plotted line to toggle saving for that cycle/type.
Use All, Kinematics, and Kinetics to change the graph layout.
After import, graph records, spatiotemporal data, metadata, cycle counts, and cycle quality rankings are refreshed.
Motion Connect import is used when harmonised CSV files are the source of truth.
normalised/combined_kinematics.csv
normalised/combined_kinetics.csv
normalised/spattemp.csv
de_identified/*.c3d companion files
Select the assessment.
Use MC Validator to check the Motion Connect folder.
If validation succeeds, use MC Import C3D to create the assessment C3D records.
Use MC Import All to import kinematics, events, kinetics, and spatiotemporal data.
The CSV data remain the source of truth. Companion C3D files are used for metadata and reference storage.
Metadata are stored at assessment level in Assessment Details / Ax Data. Metadata may be imported automatically during C3D import, or manually by clicking Metadata.
Spatiotemporal data are shown in the C3D Details panel and commonly include cadence, walking velocity, step length, step width, and stride length.
Switch between Kinematics, Kinetics, Vertexes, and EMG.
Select rows in C3D Graphs to highlight related graph lines.
Select multiple C3D files to overlay their gait cycles.
Click a graph line to select the related C3D and graph record.
Double-click a graph panel to enlarge it; double-click again to return to grid view.
Use the mouse wheel over a graph to zoom.
Click the reset marker at the graph origin to reset zoom.
Groups organise C3D files and gait cycles for comparison, averaging, and reporting.
Select the C3D file.
Choose a group from Apply Group.
Click Apply.
Enter a New Group name, or leave it blank to create default groups.
Click Create n Apply.
Default groups use this pattern: Surname-FirstName-AssessmentDescription-L, -R, and -LR. Affected and unaffected groups can also be used when AffectedSide is stored in Ax Data.
Group Manager creates and reviews group-level data. Group graphs show mean curves and standard deviation bands. Multiple groups can be toggled on and overlaid, and group colours control the plotted mean and SD display.
Create Group Data: calculate group graph data for the selected group.
Create All Group Data: calculate group data for multiple groups.
Delete Group Data: remove existing calculated group data.
Export Excel: export group summaries.
Plot Graphs: open selected group data in the Plot Graphs workflow.
Rank filtering: Min_Rank and Max_Rank can restrict which gait cycles are included when creating group data.
Select Lab.
Select Graph Type.
Choose or type a Graph Folder.
Select patient cycles and/or reference groups.
Use Plot / Save to save graph data and output files.
Use Render to create graph images.
Reference / Groups: choose reference and comparison groups.
Plot Selection List: choose individual gait cycles.
Colour: assign colours to selected cycles or groups.
Rank Filter: show only gait cycles within a selected rank range.
Selected: show only selected plot records.
Cycle Quality ranks gait cycles by how representative they are of the assessment. Lower rank means the gait cycle is more representative.
Current ranking uses a median/MAD-based comparison, which is more resistant to outliers than simple mean/SD comparison.
Cycle Quality can be recalculated automatically after import and deletion, or manually from System Maintenance > Cycle Quality Maintenance.
Lab Import Settings: define how C3D labels map to CGAS graph names.
User Motion Graph Params: define graph layout, axis limits, order, and presentation settings.
C3D Storage Manager: scan, migrate, verify, and clean managed C3D storage.
Cycle Quality Maintenance: recalculate rankings for selected assessments or the whole database.
Patient, assessment, and group exports allow data transfer between CGAS databases.
Assessment exports are stored under _EXPORT_DATA.
Group exports are stored under _EXPORT_GROUP.
Use exports before major maintenance, migration, or recalculation.
EMG tools include Setup, View EMG, and EMG import. EMG templates define channel offset, frequency factor, row, column, channel, context, and reference muscle labels.
During EMG review, graphs can be accepted, hidden, or excluded depending on the selected workflow.
Administrators can manage users, roles, permissions, institutions, lab restrictions, sessions, and audit logs. Permissions control which menu items and functions each user can access.
