This year is all about new expectations. Now, you are expected to learn from home; I am expected to teach from home. Your parents are expected to monitor your learning in new ways. It's going to be hard for everyone to adjust to this.
This year, we will meet virtually using Google Meet. When we meet, we will 1) make sure that everybody knows what schoolwork they are required to do and 2) build a community of learners.
Most of the work you do will be managed through Google Classroom. Expect a short, quiz (graded for completion only) at the start of the week so that I can assess where the class is and what we need to focus on. Expect a quiz or writing prompt (graded on the quality of work) due at the end of the week so I can see what you have learned.
Expect to read materials from back in the day and today; expect to watch videos; expect to look at images; expect to write; expect to think.
Late work policy: I will accept any & all late work with no penalty. For some assignments, you may be asked to do slightly different work on the same topic. Near the end of the quarter, I will post a date by which all late work must be submitted.
Grade book breakdown:
20% Participation
30% Assessment
50% Class Assignments
Each class will determine its own camera usage policy for our virtual meetings.
Attendance will be taken within the first 5 minutes of class starting. If you are not present at that time, you will be counted absent.
My office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 12:30 to 1:25
Concerning cameras: for the most part, it is okay to have your camera off. I will ask for you to turn your camera on if it is necessary. This will happen when we are have a discussion or checking in.
If you need to leave, please just type "brb" in the chat box and let me know when you return in the chat box.
