About Us

The Central Falls Expanded Learning Community (ELC) is an initiative of the Central Falls School District. Our mission is to provide intentional, high quality, and culturally rich out-of-school time learning programs for the youth in our community. The programs offered focus on skills necessary for all students to thrive in our global community, such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity; as well as programs that meet the academic, social, emotional, health, and physical needs of all students in very authentic environments.

By concentrating on the four (4) pillars of the District’s Equity Blueprint for Success (Student-Centered Learning and Teaching, Enrichment, Social-Emotional Development, and Community Responsiveness), the ELC strives to create strong minds, strong character, a strong sense of awareness in self and others, and a sense of cultural pride and acceptance. We believe that through purposeful collaboration and implementation, real-world learning opportunities and experiences, effective operating structures, and by embracing partnerships with families, the community, and higher education leaders, our students can and will receive the appropriate and necessary academic support, enrichment, and will be more engaged in their school and community.

The ELC also focuses on implementing programs where learning is connected to real world experience, and students have authentic choices, challenges, sense of control over their learning process, and opportunities to collaborate and lead with their peers and teachers. The ELC team looks to collaborate with individuals and organizations to provide opportunities for students that embody a genuine and realistic integration of our mission.
