In-School Competitions are usually held right after meetings.
The American Mathematics Competition (AMC) is the first stage out of the four competitions that determines the United States team for the International Mathematical Olympiad. But don't get scared! Even if you're not interested in trying out for the IMO, the AMC is a great opportunity to try new kinds of challenging math problems and compete with students across the country. The test is a 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice exam. Students who took the AMC 12 and scored more than 100 out of 150 or were in the top 5%, or took the AMC 10 and scored 120 or more out of 150 or were in the top 2.5% are invited to take the AIME, the second stage of the competition. Students who perform well and advance to AIME and further will have scholarship opportunities and more!
