UNIT TERMINAL OBJECTIVE
Identify the complex incident management issues thatcan result from a lack of multiagency coordination.
UNIT ENABLING OBJECTIVES
• Define essential terms related to multiagency coordination.
• Identify examples of the different levels at which multiagency coordination is commonly accomplished.
• Explain the NIMS functional groups within a Multiagency Coordination System.
• Identify examples of organizations that may provide multiagency coordination.
• List the responsibilities of EOCs and MAC Groups.
• Describe the respective roles of Incident Command, Area Command, Unified Command, EOCs, and MAC Groups.
Objective:
Review the key elements of the National Response Framework and identify the programs, systems and coordination groups in your organization’s incident response framework that reflect NRF principles.
Instructions:
1. In your workgroup, review the National Response Framework graphics on pages 194 and 195 in your student manual (Visuals 5.31 and 5.32).
2. Select an agency or organization that one or more members of your workgroup works for (City, County, ODF District, National Forest, National Park, etc.)
3. Assume that you are dealing with one of the following situations:
a. Group 1: The President of the United States (POTUS) is visiting Portland for a brief meeting with the Mayor and then onto the Air Show in Hillsboro where his nephew is flying in the Air Force's stunt team the Thunderbirds. POTUS will also stop by Intel to give a speech about technology and innovation investments.
b. Groups 2 (5), 3 and 4: Multiple Type 2 and 3 wildland-urban interface fires are impacting communities and infrastructure in your geographic area. Multiple communities have been evacuated and several roads are closed along with powerline safety shutdowns are in effect.
4. For the organization selected, identify and list:
a. Local agreements, groups and/or systems that facilitate interagency incident response, support and coordination.
b. State- or regional-level agreements, groups and/or systems that facilitate interagency incident response, support and coordination.
c. Federal-level agreements, groups and/or systems that facilitate interagency incident response, support and coordination.
5. You will have 45 minutes to complete.
6. Identify a spokesperson and be prepared to share your lists.
