Course Information

WOOD BADGE is the ultimate BSA Adult Leadership Training.  It is designed to help Scout leaders in all programs. Originated by Lord Baden-Powell, Scouters learn leadership skills in a unique way.  Through living the Scouting program … and applying the leadership skills taught at WOOD BADGE, one will develop a knowledge and understanding of new skills one can use in one's home, unit, district, and council.

Participation Commitment:

All participants are required to complete all fields of requested information during the online registration process. All participants are required to arrive on time Friday mornings and remain in camp during both weekend sessions. They must participate with their patrol and troop in all course activities, events and lessons until each session’s closing. In addition to the two-weekend sessions, there is at least one intersession patrol meeting that must be attended. Following the practical experience, each participant commits to complete the application phase over the following 18 months.

Course Costs:

Total cost for the course is $190 (in council participant)  and includes training materials, food, lodging, supplemental uniform items, and Wood Badge recognition items. Pre-registration is required.

Course Uniform:

For the course, Scouters will need a complete official BSA uniform for the program or position in which they are registered. The mandatory uniform requirements include an official BSA shirt, pants or shorts with the appropriate socks and belt. Information on other clothing and equipment needs will be provided to each registered participant prior to the course.


QUALIFICATIONS: YOU can participate in this exciting leadership training experience when you:

1. are a currently registered adult Scouter, active in a Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Varsity Team, Venturing Crew, District, or Council, and are at least 18 years of age.

2. have completed the basic training courses for your position. 

3. be capable of functioning safely in an outdoor environment.

4. submit a completed BSA Medical Form (Parts A, B1, B2, and C), signed by a physician within the course year.

5. submit an application, with a non-refundable deposit, to reserve your place on course.
