Indexed Universal Life (IUL) is permanent life insurance that can build cash value over time. Some clients use IUL as part of a long-term strategy to maintain lifetime coverage and access supplemental retirement income. IUL is not a fit for everyone, and it should be structured carefully. My job is to explain it clearly so you understand what it is, how it works, and whether it aligns with your goals.
An IUL policy has two primary components:
Life insurance coverage (death benefit)
Cash value that can grow based on index-linked crediting strategies (not direct stock ownership)
Some people choose IUL because they want:
permanent coverage
long-term planning beyond term insurance
a cash value component
a strategy that can be designed for retirement-minded goals
IUL should be approached realistically.
Cash value growth depends on:
policy costs and charges
funding level
index crediting performance
loan strategy (if used later)
how long the policy is kept in force
I will explain both the benefits and the risks clearly before you decide.
IUL is often a better fit for:
long-term planners
higher-income earners with consistent cash flow
retirement-minded professionals
people who already have basic coverage and want a second layer of strategy
people who want permanent coverage and flexibility
I’ll help you:
determine whether IUL makes sense for your situation
structure the policy correctly (not overly expensive or poorly designed)
review illustrations realistically
avoid common mistakes that cause policies to underperform
Indexed Universal Life and retirement-focused planning require thoughtful decisions.
My role isn’t to sell you a strategy, it’s to explain it clearly so you understand both the potential benefits and the limitations before deciding.
If it’s a good fit, we’ll move forward. If it isn’t, we won’t.
