Cesar Ruiz is a Composer, Multi-Instrumentalist, and Producer whose had a meteoric rise within the music industry in a span of 5 years. His works include some but not all- an original score for a Bruce Springsteen Documentary, producing/playing on records by bands like Intentionally Obtuse and Sir Vessel, and continuous work as a composer/arranger- this is just the beginning of a career that has no sign of slowing.
At 17 he was able to achieve a qualifying status as an Idaho State Viola placing #15 in the state. He’s also competed in District III Festival and has achieved a rating of Viola Superior twice, the highest rating you can achieve in the performance. In that same festival he achieved Excellent (The second highest rating you can achieve) with a String Octet and String Quartet.
Growing up in a household with little active instrument playing, he was the risk taker in the family picking up the viola at a young age to then pick up the guitar, and from there he was picking up instruments left and right. He’s been quoted as saying, “Music isn't a hobby, or passion, or love for me to be honest. It's a lifestyle, and it seems like the only one that fits me”
Currently attending Idaho State University, he’s on the course to achieve a BCM in Commercial Music (Helmed by Jonathan Armstrong). He’s currently privately studying with Dr. Hyeri Choi within viola studies. He's also the principal violist in the Idaho State University Chamber Orchestra (Directed Under Dr. Nell Flanders) as well as a solo act himself along with being the main songwriter, orchestrator, guitarist, vocalist, and frontman of the Boise based band The Division Line.
“As I grow, I wish to not be classified as a composer, violist, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, nor a teacher. I wish to be known as a musician whose passion for music grows every single day, and enjoys spreading that passion to others around the world.”~Cesar Ruiz
