Hello, I have always liked to write poems and stories in my past time. I have been able to take multiple advance classes in high school such as AP Lit and Dual Credit Composition. In college, I am taking Composition II with a wonderful professor dubbed Dube. She has encouraged us to think outside the box and all four of my essays will be from her class

The Jacket Essay: Different POV

I come from a Mexican background and Gary Soto was able to provide an perspective of his childhood. I decided write the story in the perspective of his mom. I was trying to capture the hard working and loving nature of his mom while throwing some classic Mexican references.

Cause and Effect Essay

I wrote about the difficulties it is to be a Mexican and the different standards we have had to face growing up. The story starts off with a realistic portrayal of what my school has had to face with zoning issues. Then, the story turns into what a school shooter has to face and the causes and effects of it. I wrote about when my school went into lockdown and threw in some fake scenes to add suspense. I was inspired to write the essay the day after the Mansfield Timeberview shooting.

Compare and Contrast Essay : Desde Ese Dia No Soy Feliz

I decide to compare my family to other traditional Mexican families and how my family is a unique family. I realized this at an early age but I found out how much influence my family had when my grandma passed away. I write about our final days with her and I compare some of our family members with each other and I contrast Mexican traditions against American ones.

J Cole Research Paper

I remember my professor talking about rap the day before she announced our research project. She said that rap is literature and can reflect society. I decided to then write about J Cole who is one my favorite rappers. I could have gone for the easy grade but I wanted to challenge myself and write about a modern day art form which is rap.
