To jump into the first weeks' assignment, read below. To read some great literature from the course, visit Literary Works.

Week 1: Middle Ages

• Read Chapter 1.2: "Introduction to the Middle Ages" found in our online textbook, British Literature I: Middle Ages to the Eighteenth Century and Neoclassicism. (Note: Simply click the title on the page to open up the book online.)

Week 2: Beowulf, First Half

• View the documentary Beowulf and the Roots of Anglo-Saxon Poetry. You will find the film within Films on Demand, one of our Cerro Coso databases.

• Read the first half of Beowulf.

Week 3: Beowulf, Second Half

• Read the second half of Beowulf.
