Week 1

If you want to hop into your readings for Week 1 early, keep reading below:

Course Textbook

This is a zero textbook cost course, so there is no need to purchase a textbook. Our course textbook, The Norton Anthology of English Literature, has been digitized by the Cerro Coso Library and can be checked out digitally by clicking here. 

Please note that you will need to log into your InsideCC account with your student email and password to access our course textbook. 

As a courtesy to the next student, don't forget to click "Return Early" when you are done  reading.

Week 1 Readings

For Week 1, you will be reading the following:

• Introduction to the "Middle Ages to ca. 1485": pages 3-10

• Introduction to Beowulf: pages 36-41

• Beowulf: pages 41-77 (ending after Beowulf's fight with Grendel's mother) 

Week 1 Assignments

Your assignments for Week 1 will be available to you in Canvas as soon as the class is published the Friday prior to the start of the semester. Be sure to log in early, so you are prepared for your first due dates on the Friday of Week 1.
