On Android 12 and older, open any text field and tap the Clipboard Icon to see the clipboard. You can tap on entries to paste them into a field and pin entries in place so they don't disappear after an hour by tapping and holding an entry. On Android 13 or newer, copy or cut any text and then tap the small preview window in the screen's bottom left-hand corner. This will open the clipboard where you can edit entries.

Gboard is the official clipboard app from Google, and it comes installed by default on many Android phones. To access it, open any text field and tap on the Clipboard Icon at the top of the keyboard before you type anything.

To customize the keyboard further, tap the Gear icon > Clipboard. Here, you can choose whether recently copied text and images show up as suggestions, customize if phone numbers and addresses show up in recently copied text, and even enable the saving of screenshots to the clipboard.

To see your clipboard while using Gboard, just tap the clipboard icon in the keyboard's top row, right next to the settings gear. On the page that opens, tap Turn on Clipboard.

You can also customize this Clipboard menu so it holds screenshots you've taken recently too. To turn this on, go back to the regular keyboard and tap the settings gear icon in the top row, then Clipboard, and then Save recent screenshots in clipboard.

The ability to copy and paste is a basic and simple function of any Android smartphone or tablet. However, to take it to the next level, you should take full advantage of the clipboard feature to find everything you've copied. Let's get started.

Like many things in Android, the clipboard feature works differently depending on your device's skin and Android version. Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones have their own built-in clipboards. Other devices may only be able to access the clipboard through a keyboard app. That's the method we'll be focusing on in this guide since it's the most universal.

First, you'll need a keyboard app that has a clipboard feature. Two popular choices are Google's Gboard and Microsoft's SwiftKey. The clipboards in these two apps work very similarly, but we'll be using Gboard in the screenshots below.

Once you have your keyboard installed and set up, we can try the clipboard. Simply copy some text, a URL, or even an image. Now go to the app where you'd like to paste whatever it is you copied and tap the text box to bring up the keyboard. Look for a clipboard icon in the top toolbar and tap it.

This will open the clipboard, and you'll see the recently copied item at the front of the list. Simply tap any of the options in the clipboard to paste it into the text field. You may be asked to enable the clipboard at this point, in which case you won't see older copied items.

Android does not save items to the clipboard forever. After a while, the oldest clipboard items will be deleted. Both Gboard and SwiftKey allow you to "pin" items to the clipboard to prevent them from being deleted after an hour. This can be done by long-pressing an item and choosing the "Pin" option.

If you find yourself copying and pasting a lot on Android, the clipboard is an invaluable tool. You can copy a bunch of things at once and then paste them independently without hopping back and forth. It's a good trick to know.

When I need a password I go to lastpass app, and I copy to clipboard. I past it into the form field that I need. This is a practice that I do usually when I'm generating a new password. I don't usually do this, as I can just click the form field to have lastpass populate the password.

The LastPass Android app has built-in non configurable routine to clear the clipboard after 30 seconds. As you have tested this the routine must not be running, what version of Android does your device use?

Yes I made sure that it is set as enabled in the android app. I don't even think there's an option to set it at never. I also did uninstalling, restarting, reintalling, clearing data, cache. and any other way.

I also did a side-by-side comparison with my previous device, a Galaxy Note 8, with the same settings and while looking at the clipboard real-time. My older device's clipboard does get cleared by the LastPass app but the new one on my Note 10+ does nothing.

After copying a link in the Firefox address bar a few days ago, every time I select the search bar that link shows up below as a suggestion "fill link from clipboard". I know I can just hide clipboard suggestions but I want to know where that information is stored and how to delete it. The link is not important (and it's even misspelled), but I want to know, from a privacy standpoint, why it's still there.

I have Firefox set to delete all data on exit and I even ran that manually, then I looked for every available clipboard and made sure it was cleared. My keyboard (Swiftkey) clipboard is cleared - I even switched back to the Samsung keyboard to make sure that clipboard is also cleared. Then, I searched for the word "clipboard" in settings and deleted the data from the 3 apps/services that had that in the name. I still can't figure out why that link doesn't go away.

You can get access to the clipboard in two ways: the first is through Gboard, a keyboard app by Google. The second is by using clipper, a third-party app that lets you manage copied items in a slightly more efficient way.

Sometimes you will see the clipboard icon right away in the menu alongside settings, GIF, and others. But if you don't see the icon, tap the three dots at the right to reveal the hidden icons. There you will see the clipboard icon.

The "Clear clipboard" setting clears single-item clipboards by copying a blank value, " ", to the clipboard. Multi-item clipboards, such as Samsung's, prove more difficult as they can store copied values beyond where 1Password can clear them. Some devices also have a clipboard manager running in the background which can retain copied values separately. While it may not work with every device or clipboard manager, we're currently working on some changes to be able to clear the clipboard in as many places as we can.

With Samsung Keyboard you can also clear the clipboard manually:

1. Tap a text field to open the keyboard.

2. Tap the clipboard icon. If you don't see a clipboard icon select the three horizontal dots then check for the clipboard option there.

3. Tap the trash icon then select All or specific values and proceed with deleting them.

When I've had the chance to chat with our devs about this, it is certainly more complex than it appears on the surface. As you mentioned, some devices hold copied values in the clipboard manager where there may not be options to clear them other than manually. To my knowledge, this is currently the only option the Samsung clipboard manager provides. I would agree switching back and forth between keyboards to do so is less than ideal.

Hi everyone, on my android smartphone (xiaomi redmi) my copied password continues being in clipboard and I can paste it after 10 secs (in option I set clear clipboard after 10 seconds ). What I do wrong? What I need to do to fix it? May be I need give some permission or something else?

Is there's any way by which I can sync clipboard Ubuntu 12.04/14.04 with android phone with JellyBean 4.1.2 preferably over same wifi network or over internet if that's not possible. In windows there's a app called ClipSync to sync clipboard b/w pc and android device.

Is there's any app comparable to ClipSync in windows or any other. Even though android is Linux based but have nothing much to do with Ubuntu really. please help me out I have googled everywhere but didn't had anything close to it.

Finally, got an app called KDE connect which can be used to sync clipboard and many other additional features are also there. But it is available by default for Ubuntu 14.04 in software center, but in order to use this app one will have to install KDE- system setting from Ubuntu software center along with KDE connect app from google play.
