Project Investigators: Elroy Dimsom
This conference is part of a wider initiative run in collaboration with the Review of Finance and designed to promote high-quality research on biodiversity and natural resource finance. This is a new body of research and there are only a few high-quality finance working papers at this point. The format of this initiative will follow a two-stage editorial process, in a similar way to the 2018 initiative led by the Review of Financial Studies and focused on climate finance. The two stages are described below for clarity, but this application seeks funding for stage one only. In May 2024, Review of Finance launched a call for research proposals. Highly rated proposals will be invited to present at a workshop at the University of Cambridge on October 9, 2024. The presenters will be asked to outline research questions, methodologies and data they intend to use; and the scope and significance of the plans will be judged (stage 1). Successful proposals will continue to stage 2 - a standard format finance conference to be held in 2025. At stage two, presenters will describe the original intent and actual execution of the study approved in the first phase, plus the results and interpretation of planned and unplanned analyses. Reviewers and the editor will evaluate whether the authors have executed their planned analysis, whether these analyses conform sufficiently to the original proposal and whether the authors’ additional analyses and interpretations are appropriate. A positive evaluation will lead to publication in the Review of Finance.
