FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Will it hurt?
The first session hurts, the second session hurts less and further sessions are much easier. It only hurts for a few seconds.
How does it compare to other forms of hair removal?
Shaving causes the hair to come back stronger. Depilation (plucking) hurts more because it takes much longer. Waxing will last several weeks to months.
BEFORE WAXING
Exfoliate (scrub):
Gently exfoliate the areas to be waxed at least 24 hours before your appointment to remove dead skin cells and ingrown hairs. This will help the wax to adhere more closely to your skin.
Cleanse:
Wash the area with a gentle soap to remove any oils, makeup, sweat, or residue that could prevent the wax from sticking. Use soap and water, not anything containing chemicals.
Avoid shaving:
Don't shave before waxing appointments. Longer hair is better for waxing as the wax has something to grip. If you are trimmed the hair should be longer than 2 mm.
Avoid sun exposure:
Sunburned skin cannot be waxed.
Avoid caffeine:
Avoid consuming large amounts of caffeine before your appointment to reduce sensitivity.
Drink water:
Plenty of water stops the skin from drying out.
AFTER WAXING
Avoid heat and friction:
For 24–48 hours, avoid hot water, saunas, hot tubs, steam treatments, tanning, and exercise. You should also avoid wearing tight clothing and swimming in chlorinated pools.
Wear loose clothing:
Wear clean, loose-fitting clothing to avoid sweat and friction that can increase the risk of irritation. Allow the area to breathe and heal properly.
Apply Aloe Vera:
Cooling gel can help calm any redness or irritation.
Effects:
The skin may be red from the wax. There might be little white bumps, this is where the follicles have pulled through. The redness and the bumps will be gone by morning.
Dangers:
There is a slight risk of skin lifts, with a tiny amount of blood.
Aftercare:
Avoid putting anything with chemicals on the areas that have been waxed. Wash with soap and water only for a couple of days after.
