The 2025 Course on Advanced Molecular Biotnarkers in Oncology aims to integrate aspects of basic and translational research with clinical research, enabling effective interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary interaction between researchers from different fields of cancer research.
Integrated systems biology approaches will bring together diverse and complen1entary experiments and databases to gain new insights into biological processes or systems involved at the molecular level in cancer progression. These approaches rely on diverse high-throughput experimental techniques that generate heterogeneous data analyzing various aspects of complex biological processes. Computational approaches are needed to provide an integrative view of these experimental results and enable data-driven discovery. Hypotheses generated by these approaches can direct definitive molecular experiments in a cost-effective manner. Integrated systems biology approaches will help extend existing biological knowledge and acquire large-scale data to improve our understanding of as yet unknown components of a system of interest and how its malfunction leads to cancer transformation and progression.
