I have tried many suggestions such as yum/dnf error: Failed to download metadata for repoand similar, none work for me.Some articles point to bugs in the env vars for $releaseserver etc. I have also tried replacing with actual values. same error.

Mine had to be a mixture of some of the other answers. I used latest (as of a couple days ago) CentOS with Docker default image. (sudo failed as I was already in root)

Centos 8 Yum Update Failed To Download Metadata

I am very excited to use the new metadata features, but when attempting to sync data w/ metadata from my local, centos7 box to aws s3, i get the below error. I saw this post from a few weeks ago where the poster seemed to be doing exactly what I want to do and got a lot farther than i did, and I can't figure out why my attempt would be any different than his. I went as far as trying @ncw fix-xattr-notsup branch to see if that helps but i get the same error. basically no matter what I do:

I am gearing up to move multiple petabytes and hundreds of millions of files of research data so have been doing various testing. I encountered another metadata issue which I just created a new post for. Thanks for all your hard work!

Copy the onap-custom folder from the GCP to target ubuntu VM where you will install OpenStack and update the script (~/onap-custom/setup-utils/aio-centos-client-install.sh) with below content and try.

# Replace the following attached scripts in path ~/onap-custom/setup-utils

Extract the attached scripts.zip to get the updated files.

aio-centos-gcp-deploy.sh

aio-centos-client-install.sh

I've tried everything above and it has resolved some issues that I didn't even realize that I had. However, I'm still getting this annoying line, (I know it's variations on a theme at this point):"Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'satellite-tools-6.7-for-rhel-8-x86_64-e4s-source-rpms'"It's frustrating, but I'm still believing in the community. Let's fix this thing!!

Failed to download metadata for repo 'epel'Error: Failed to download metadata for repo 'epel'

The reason you're seeing this error is because CentOS 8 went EOL 12/31/21 (deadline extended to today - 1/31/22), and the official repo was moved to vault.centos.org. Therefore, we do not keep mirrors for this anymore.

If you are a Linux user, you might have come across an error message that says, "Failed to Download Metadata for Repo 'AppStream'". This error occurs when the metadata for the AppStream repository fails to download properly.

When using Linux operating systems, such as Ubuntu, Fedora, or CentOS, package managers like apt or rely on repositories to provide the necessary software packages. These repositories contain metadata, which includes information about the available packages, their versions, and dependencies.

The AppStream repository, in particular, is responsible for providing metadata for graphical applications and software components. It enables users to discover, install, and manage software through graphical interfaces, making it an essential component of the Linux ecosystem.

However, there are instances where the metadata for the AppStream repository fails to download, resulting in the "Failed to Download Metadata for Repo 'AppStream'" error. This error can be frustrating, especially when you are trying to install new software or update your existing packages.

I had installed a minimalist CentOS 8 on one of my servers. Installation went successful, however, when I tried to update the system using yum update I see this error message: Failed to download metadata for repo. Below is the complete error.

CentOS Linux 8 had reached the End Of Life (EOL) on December 31st, 2021. It means that CentOS 8 will no longer receive development resources from the official CentOS project. After Dec 31st, 2021, if you need to update your CentOS, you need to change the mirrors to vault.centos.org where they will be archived permanently. Alternatively, you may want to upgrade to CentOS Stream.

On 31st December 2021, CentOS Linux 9 had reached its End of Life (EOL). This means, it will not receive any development updates from the official CentOS project. Thereafter, 31st December 2021, for updating your CentOS, you will first need to change the mirrors to vault.centos.org. Here they will be archived for all time. Instead, you may also need to upgrade to CentOS stream.

Hi guys my computer failed to boot after installing lvm2-2.02.186-2. After typing my encryption passphrase the boot process stops for some minutes then it says it can't find my SysPart1-root. I tried to solve this the lazy way and simple wait for a better update to come around. Now the lvm2-2.02.186-3 update came and the problem remains the same. This problem only occurs on my desktop computer where my LVM system is spread out over four different HDD's. On my laptop I'm running the latest LVM version whit out any problem.

For example, base repo pointing to CentOS Mirror works

while appstream repo pointing to CentOS Mirror and I am unable to download any package from it , which says that not able to download complete metadata

This leads us to believe that the metadata gets corrupted when either rpm-remote2 and rpm-remote3 are aggregated in a virtual repository along with rpm-remote1 repository. In addition to that, removing rpm-remote2 and rpm-remote3 from rpm-virtual repository does not solve the problem with corrupted metadata, even when API for metadata calculation is being executed against rpm-virtual repository. This test also reveals that only rpm-remote1 & rpm-remote2 OR rpm-remote1 & rpm-remote3 can be aggregated together, and not all three together.

My guess is mod_auth_mellon is not configured correctly but I am not sure where to start to debug this. What should apache return for /mellon/metadata/ls and /mellon/metadata/postResponse? Any help is greatly appreciated. e24fc04721
