Jordan Burt is a native of Brandon, Mississippi, and a 2014 graduate of Brandon High School. He earned a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Mississippi in 2020. During his time at Ole Miss, he was actively involved in the Pride of the South Drumline, the University Wind Ensemble, and several percussion ensembles, gaining valuable performance and leadership experience.
Mr. Burt began his teaching career at Leake Central Schools in the fall of 2020 before joining South Panola Schools in Batesville, Mississippi, in 2021. During his tenure at South Panola, he directed a competitive concert percussion ensemble that earned four gold medals. Under his leadership, the school's marching percussion section also consistently achieved success, earning multiple Superior ratings at state marching evaluations.
In the fall of 2026, Mr. Burt will join Center Hill Schools, where he looks forward to continuing his passion for music education and helping students grow as musicians, performers, and leaders.
Kristin Burt is a native of Saltillo, Mississippi, where she graduated from Saltillo High School in 2015. She earned her Associate of Arts degree in Music Education from Northeast Mississippi Community College in Booneville, Mississippi. During her time at NEMCC, she was an active member of the marching band, jazz band, wind ensemble, and choir. She was recognized as the Most Outstanding Student in the Fine Arts Division and was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. In 2017, she was also nominated as NEMCC’s student honoree for the H.E.A.D.W.A.E. (Higher Education Appreciation Day – Working for Academic Excellence) Award.
Mrs. Burt went on to earn her Bachelor of Music Education from Mississippi State University in the fall of 2019. While at MSU, she performed with the Famous Maroon Band, where she served as a section leader, and was also a member of the wind ensemble, brass quintet, and trumpet consort. She later completed her Master of Music Education degree at William Carey University in 2025.
Mrs. Burt began her teaching career as the Band Director at Ethel High School in the spring of 2020. In 2022, she joined Center Hill Middle School, where she continues to serve as the band director.
