Stories of Change Agents
Introduce your students to stories of real people around the globe who made a difference. Students learn the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and determine which stories meet different goals. From the true story of Heifer International to micro-loans to transportation to entrepreneurs and to the importance of education or caring for the environment. All these are described in moving children’s stories with big ideas. Your students can see that they too may one day create micro-loans or the green belt movement.
Arkansas Allocation of Water Activity
Use this lesson and presentation to introduce students to the value of water using the White River as an example. Students decide how to allocate the water to multiple uses such as development, farms, power generation, conservation and more. Then a drought occurs. What should they do now? Who goes without water? Additionally, some uses return the water in an unusable state. Valuing water is critical to our future both for the state and for the world. This activity will give your students something to think about.
