The British actress has been in the public eye for over a decade, but it wasn’t until recently that she became a household name. Peake is best known for her role as Sarah Lancashire’s daughter in the hit TV show “Happy Valley”, which aired on BBC One.
Despite her successful career, Peake has always been open about her struggles with her weight. In an interview with The Guardian, she revealed that she has “yo-yoed” between a size 8 and a size 16 throughout her life.
In 2018, Peake decided to lose weight for her role in the movie “Rise of the Footsoldier 3”. To do so, she went on a drastic diet and lost an impressive amount of weight in a short period of time.
In this article, we will take a look at how Maxine Peake lost weight for her role in “Rise of the Footsoldier 3”.
The actress says she was motivated to slim down after working with the late Victoria Wood on the BBC hit show Dinnerladies.
Peake played the role of Twinkle, a plus-size character who was always eating cakes and biscuits. She says she was inspired by Wood to lose weight and get in shape.
“Victoria was so amazing to work with. She was always so kind and encouraging,” Peake said. “She once told me that I could be whatever size I wanted to be, but she thought I’d be happier and more successful if I was thinner.”
And so, Peake began a healthy eating plan and started to exercise more. She eventually lost two stones (12.7 kg) and says she feels much better both physically and mentally.
“I don’t deny myself anything – I just eat less of it. And I exercise a lot more, which really helps to keep my energy levels up,” she said. “I have so much more confidence now and I feel so much happier in myself.”
Peake has also appeared in films such as The Red Riding Trilogy and Me Before You.
