About Us
Mahatma Gandhi Centre of Excellence in IT (MG-CEIT) at Suva in Fiji National University (FNU) , Fiji is the outcome of the interest of the Fiji government in seeking assistance from India for development of ICT in Fiji.
The Government of India proposed the setting up of MG-CEIT having international outreach for imparting ICT education in Fiji .
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA),Government of India, entrusted the responsibility for setting up of a MG-CEIT at FNU in Suva under the aegis of the College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST), to Centre for Development ofAdvanced Computing (CDAC).
An MoU was signed between the India and Fiji for training in the specialized field of IT and expanding the area of cooperation between the two countries in these fields.
About CEIT
MG-CEIT is equipped with state-of- the-art IT infrastructure
at two fully functional training labs with modern facilities
viz. Desktop Computers, Laptops, Printers, Software,
Interactive White Board, Video Conferencing, TV,
Projection System, Student Feedback Response System
etc. to enhance the learning environment.
MG-CEIT is offering advanced IT Courses on Software
Engineering, Multimedia Website Deigning, Business
Computing, Java Programming, Linux System
Administration, Database Administration, Network Security
and IT Project Management.
MG-CEIT will be developed as ‘Finishing School’ to bridge
the gap between academia & industry MG-CEIT will have
a provision to connect to India through VC for special
sessions and on- line teaching.
MG-CEIT will offer latest Courseware and Reference
Books for training of Teachers, Students, Government
Officials & Working Professionals. MG-CEIT will have an
experienced Centre Head and one Trainer from CDAC
deputed for two years for course delivery & centre coordination
MG-CEIT will develop Master Trainers during the first two
years to take on the activities after the departure of CDAC
experts.
ABOUT C-DAC
Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is a scientific society of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India for carrying out R&D in IT, Electronics & associated areas.
This portfolio envisages a range of technologies such as High Performance Computing including Scientific Modeling and Visualization,Multilingual Computing, Applied Artificial Intelligence and Speech Processing, Software including Open Source Software (Linux), Multimedia, Graphics and Database Technologies, Strategic and Power Electronics and Agrielectronics, Real Time Systems, Embedded Systems and VLSI Design, Health Informatics, Geomatics, Cyber Security, Digital / Broadband and Wireless Networks, e-Governance and ICT for Digital Divide, and Educationand Training including e-Learning.
ABOUT CEST
The College of Engineering, Science and Technology (CEST)
located in Suva, the administrative capital of Fiji, is the premier
school of Engineering in Fiji and the Region. CEST is an
integral part of FNU. The College offers training programmes
that are targeted to meet the human resource needs of Fiji,
the region and beyond! So you can be assured that after you
have completed your programme of studies and training here
