The tool then asks the user to pick a CAD Link that the user has already linked within his/her Revit model. If the Link is not already opened, the tool will open this link in AutoCAD and automatically extract the block locations.

Then, the remapping form is shown, where the user can specify whether the elements are ceiling hosted, wall hosted, or just level-based, and map each AutoCAD block to its Revit family. The user can also specify a vertical offset.

CAD blocks are named groups of objects that act as a single 2D or 3D object. You can use them to create repeated content, such as drawing symbols, common components, and standard details. Blocks help you save time, maintain consistency, and reduce file size, since you can reuse and share content.

You can create your own CAD blocks or choose them pre-made in both AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT software. Insert a block into a CAD drawing either by specifying a drawing file or block definition within a drawing file. Then, you can easily move, copy, rotate, or scale it.

You can find some symbols in the sample files that come with AutoCAD. Navigate to the DesignCenter folder, where you'll see a variety of sample drawings, each containing a set of related block definitions.

Dynamic blocks can save you time and decrease file size. Create one block that can change shape, size, or configuration depending on usage instead of inserting multiple static blocks. Add attributes or dynamic properties to CAD blocks, so they can accommodate different text strings, shapes, or sizes.

Dynamic blocks have flexibility and intelligence. You can easily change a dynamic block reference in a drawing while you work, manipulating the geometry through custom grips or properties. You can adjust the block reference in place. For example, instead of creating multiple blocks for different table types and chair settings, you can create one table block.

Does anyone have a ceiling fan block (for a 2D drawing) that they would be willing to share? I have searched the free blocks (that I am aware are available), but I cannot find a ceiling fan fixture. I believe this is the last block I need for my final project in my beginning CAD class.

If you're not sure what a ceiling fan block should look like, then use your imagionation. I've never seen one, but I suspect that a small circle, say 200mm diameter, with 4 shapes that look like a plane prop coming out from it at 90 degree angular separation for about 750mm.

Most problems with ceiling fans that have a controller are usually due to the controller. They have a solid state switch that switches the 120 volts line voltage on and off 60 times a second. That's a tough job. Anyway, they have a really high rate of failure

For location, I extracted the coordinates of Lighting Fixtures from AutoCAD file into an excel and succeeded to place those fixtures on a single ceiling (highlighted in a green coloured group in dynamo script). But now I want to place those fixtures at different ceilings at a different height.

Thank you for your feedback, I am trying various things, I was just surprised (disappointed) that most things are ok and just not the walls, floor, ceiling and worktops. The program I use is Autokitchen which is a supplied by Microcad, not sure of anything more technical than that.

cad-blocks.net is an organized, modern and clear site to download more than 5,000 CAD blocks files -dwg file extension- for AutoCAD and other CAD software to use in architecture proyects or plans, this files are compatible with AutoCAD 2021 and firts versions and they have been created by architects, engineers, draughtsmen to facilitate technical projects. The files are agrupated in thematics and subthematics collections and are purged (only layer 0). Download CAD Blocks aretotally FREE and no registration required.

CAD blocks arose as a result of the need for repetitive use of multiple objects in different projects. Now, thanks to the blocks, this CAD drawing only needs to be produced once, the first time it is needed. In subsequent projects where the same object is required, instead of drawing it again, it is reused by inserting it in the CAD file in which we are working.

Reuse of AutoCAD blocks is not restricted to our own designs, since logically, we can also use any block or CAD file produced by third parties if their use is permitted in our project. In addition, companies that manufacture products or construction systems often create their own product libraries in .dwg or .dxf versions with the business aim of projects stipulating the need for their products or technical solutions and offering them on their websites.

Another advantage of using AutoCAD blocks is saving space in the file since only the data for one single block or block entity is stored regardless of whether it is repeated 2 or 20 times. There is another parallel advantage to this, whereby if some of the blocks in our drawing need to be altered, the change only needs to be made in some of them, through the block editor. Once modified and saved, it will be automatically changed in the remaining blocks since it is a single entity.

One: it is preferable to create the entire block in layer 0, and thanks to this precaution, if we insert a block of a bed or a table in the "furniture" layer, for example, the inserted block acquires said layer, so that when we manage the layers, activating or deactivating them, the inserted bed will behave like the rest of the elements in that layer.

Three: by specifying the insertion point, and checking this aspect, along with the previous one, we avoid time-consuming situations in which a block we have inserted cannot be seen or located, giving rise to significant frustration and time wasting. The insertion point is usually a point that is part of the drawing.

Four: we must check the types of basic elements such as letters, lines and shading that we use in our blocks, since if these are not part of our library of these elements (often the standard one) when inserting the CAD block, these elements will not be represented or will be replaced by others.

Five: it is also very common for users to keep hold of very old AutoCAD versions such as v2000, v2004, etc., so if the block has been created with more recent versions, such as 2013 or 2018, we will not be able to open it in our drawing. In these cases, we can use the Autodesk DWG TrueView program, which, in addition to being a viewer for a multitude of graphic files, allows these files to be converted into the various existing versions.

AutoCAD continues to dominate the two-dimensional drafting marketplace for architects and interior designers. Digital Drawing for Designers: A Visual Guide to AutoCAD 2021 is designed to help this community by using visual methods to lead to understanding.

Starting with the building blocks of drawing (lines, circles, and arcs), the book progresses through architectural graphic standards, enabling students to create presentation and construction drawings that effectively communicate their design ideas.

Advanced features such as annotative dimensions, annotative blocks, express tools, and linking drawings (XREFs) are also covered. Instructions are illustrated using language and concepts from manual drafting, facilitating a smooth transition to the digital environment for all designers, and showing just how your paper idea becomes a digital reality. Clear, concise, and above all visual, this AutoCAD guide gives you exactly what you need to become a pro at this program.
