The project aims to improve forest-dependent populations’ ability to conserve and benefit from the natural resources that forests hold by strengthening their capacity to exercise their environmental rights peacefully.
The CEEJA project is a 5-year EU-funded avoided deforestation and biodiversity project implemented by a well-established consortium of Danmission, Cambodian NGOs, local forestry networks, and the University of Copenhagen in three forested areas.

Citizens and civil society organizations are empowered to innovate peaceful practices and promote inclusive policies for access to environmental justice.
Youth, in particular young women, become more active in raising awareness of forestry justice.
Young women become more capable and committed to serve as environmental defenders.
Forestry networks have greater capacity and voice to assert their rights to natural resources.
Forest dependent community members are better enabled to protect and celebrate their forests.
1) Financial support for forestry group network members -> to advocate for their environmental rights
2) Outreach and communication strategies to engage Cambodian youth on environmental justice issues using social media platforms and cultural awareness events.
3) Capacity-build forestry networks and enable them to participate in local, national and international policy development processes on environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
4) Establish knowledge sharing platforms (i.e. SoME, multimedia presentations, participatory research, dialogues, forums, and conferences) to raise the visibility of the work and engage a broad range of local and international civil society stakeholders.
5) Using cutting edge technologies: Prey Lang App and Integrated Forest Observatory System (I-FOROS).
- Enhance public awareness about forestry justice issues.
- Provide an evidence base for advocacy on environmental rights.
- Raise relevant issues and lessons learned to the national and international community.
