Collaborative Environmental Diorama

The Collaborative Environmental Diorama (Hereby referred to as CED), is a final-year project currently in development for the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Creative Multimedia Undergraduate Course in Universiti Teknologi Brunei.

Essentially, the project is proposed to be in a form of a small public exhibition booth that showcases an interactive projection of a natural environment which, is in danger of the effects of Environmental Pollution.

The project works through the concept of "Interactive Projection" where digitally projected graphics have some level of interactivity in them. In CED, a digital forest environment is displayed using a projector and its interactivity is achieved with motion controls through the Microsoft Kinect gaming peripheral.

The project is envisioned to be in the form of a public exhibition which allows the input of multiple individuals that contribute to the appearance of the projected environment and hence, the term "Collaborative" is included within the name of the project.

The project aims to inspire and teach people to learn and attend to the digitally projected natural environment, in a zen-like and fulfilling manner; In hopes that they would proceed to do so with the actual, real-life natural environment.

CED hopes to exploit a new method of learning through Interactive Media – Inspired from video games – of a subject that is taught repeatedly for years in a way it is engaging and inspiring.
