Cedar App is founded on my passion and commitment to helping BC schools improve students’ mental health. Ventures that increase societal good through community-driven creativity and collaboration have always been my inspiration. This was mentioned in my venture analysis as this is deeply interconnected with my educational pedagogy and philosophy. We are living in uncertain times, and as such, we need to embrace a diversity of thoughts to embrace these changes. In other words, we need to work together to create products and services that can promote goodness in our community. In the spirit of ETEC 522, this is the ultimate learning experience. It is humbling to pitch Cedar App in this platform as I navigate in both my mind and expertise in how to realize this dream vision to launching Cedar App in BC schools.
Cedar App is based on a social enterprise model where profits generated are used for the public good. Likewise, Cedar App helps BC students develop healthy and positive mental health, which in return, enable their future contributions as active citizens. When our children learn preventive measures to deal with daily stressors, they will build positive self-identities and respectful relationships. School districts in BC need a uniform and timely approach to building a culture for our children to be more mindful. Cedar App fulfills this niche. The greatest strength in investing in Cedar App is the potential dominance in market share. There is no LiDAR meditation app that is aligned with the BC Education curriculum in the current market. My connections with local school districts as well as my expertise in online curriculum design will serve well.
However, Cedar App requires a start-up fund as well as a team with app-development expertise. We are lacking in the resources required to realize my vision of Cedar App. I will continue to apply to educational grants and pool resources from crowdfunding. In order to mitigate the risks of investing in Cedar App, we need the right team. I have the vision, but I need to find the right people who share my passion as well as the missing tools and expertise required to launch Cedar App. I will reach out to experts such as the Mental Health Literacy team at BC Children’s Hospital to further amplify knowledge on children’s mental health and wellness. Despite the recognition of the limitations of Cedar App, I am deeply committed to promoting my entrepreneurial potential as I often see possibilities, when others see problems. I have always had an innate curiosity and this venture pitch has cemented my continual fire and passion to push forward. It has increased my confidence to reach out to collaborate with local experts in app development and mental health awareness in youth.
