About Us

Wisdom enclosed in the heart is like a light in a jug ~ Ethiopia Proverb

Many of Philadelphia's 54 branch libraries have the support of a Friends group. The group exist to support that library branch and by extension the communities surrounding that branch. We are here to serve the Cecil B. Moore Library and we invite you to join us . . . Click the "What Friends Do" image below for a larger view.

We assist our branch library in several different ways, such as:

  • raising funds
  • promoting library programs and activities
  • advocating on behalf of the library to local and state government
  • creating activities and programs that are of benefit to the community.

We, the Friends of Cecil B. Moore Library, believe that this library is a place of opportunity, opportunity for our children, opportunity for the job seeker, opportunity to learn new things that result in a better life, opportunity to make better decisions through experiencing the joys and sorrows of others, opportunity for self-discovery and self-improvement. We believe that taking advantage of these opportunities will make us more knowledgeable, competent, and informed resulting in greater understanding, accomplishments, and success.
