Alex Sweers is a former elementary Special Education teacher from Jacksonville, Florida. She moved to Arizona a year ago to work in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College as a Graduate Research Assistant. She is also currently pursuing a Master’s in the Learning Design and Technologies program, and is excited to bring awareness and change to the realm of Special Education.
RaNiyah Taylor is a current junior studying political science and family & human development, as well as working toward a minor in French. She is an active member of the Greek community and serves in a leadership position in her sorority. She works ASU GEAR UP as an academic tutor and mentor success coach for students at Westwood High School and Tempe High School. She is also working toward a Peace Corp Prep Certificate, which will hopefully allow her to work in the education or youth in development sector with the Peace Corps in West Africa. Once done with school, she hopes to go back to get her Master's in Social Work so she can serve students in and outside of the classroom.
Maggie Trupkiewicz, a senior in MLFTC, is pursuing her bachelor's degree in special education and general education. She holds dual associate of arts degrees in early childhood education and elementary education and works in the MLFTC as a research assistant. She looks forward to working with students on the autism spectrum this fall as part of her final semester. Maggie is passionate about studying numerous subjects, including intersectionality and queer theory, related to the inner workings of K-12 education and academia. She's excited to provide her students an inclusive learning environment that challenges stereo- and archetypes.
Kasey Kingsley, a junior in MLFTC, is pursuing her bachelor's degree in special education and general education. In 2018, she presented research about mainstreaming students in public schools at a regional honors conference at Montana State. She has three special needs siblings, which is where her passion for the subject comes from. She plans to continue to go to law school in order to protect students with policy and educational law. kokingsl@asu.edu
