Join us on April 18th, 2026 at 6:00 p.m at the Campbell Aquatics Building at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center where Jordanne Brisby will give a presentation on Night-Vision Assisted Astronomy. If you were at the 2025 Peach State Star Gaze and were able to look through one of her night vision eyepieces, you already know how great this area of the hobby is!
Jordanne Brisby is an amateur astronomer, telescope maker, and experienced night-vision observer who specializes in pushing the limits of what can be seen with even modest-aperture telescopes. Jordanne's path into astronomy began about ten years ago with a 10-inch Dobsonian, transitioning a long-standing interest into a serious pursuit
A few years later, Jordanne expanded into astrophotography and telescope-making, creating plans for a large Dobsonian. It was through hands-on observing at Deerlick Astronomy Village that Jordanne's passion truly accelerated. There, interactions with experienced observers and large Dobsonian telescopes helped ignite a strong interest in telescope building and optimizing visual observing.
Encouragement and support from fellow enthusiasts and telescope builders ultimately led to the construction of a custom 17.5-inch f/4.5 Dobsonian, marking a major step forward in light gathering and observational capability.
But as many of us in the hobby often discover, aperture fever sets in, and there is a craving for more light gathering and better resolution, fighting the diminishing returns of simply buying or building a larger telescope. Jordanne’s solution to this is night vision astronomy, utilizing analog image intensification to instantly and noticeably enhance the light-gathering capabilities of nearly any telescope under any level of light pollution, no long-exposure or cameras required.
Charlie Elliott Astronomy is a welcoming group of observers and imagers from all walks of life. Check out some of the images from our members and friends from 2025 in the Charlie Elliott Astronomy Image of the Month Gallery!

Congratulations again to Michael Schurier on the Charlie Elliott Astronomy Image of the Month! Great catch of the Artemis II launch!
John Wood Astronomy Field is a multi-use field at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Management Area and is open to the public on meeting nights. We have made arrangements with the kind folks at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Management Area so that members may access the field at any time. Gate codes are available to active members and can be found in the Member Area. Active membership is required to access the gate codes. Please note that gate codes are changed annually an occasionally on demand as the need arises.
