Thursday April 9th 5-9pm
Friday April 10th 5-830pm
Saturday April 11th and Sunday April 12th 7am-8pm
at Central/Etobicoke Centennial/North Toronto/Don Montgomery/Leaside/Mitchell Field/Pleasantview/Victoria Village
An end-of season Festival will bring together all teams for a weekend celebration of fun and games, while there is some element of competitiveness the emphasis should be on "Making Hockey Fun"
There will be snack bar open at 6 of the rinks (all but Central and Mitchell Field have food), important details including their offerings for this weekend are listed at this link.
U7 and U8 will both play Half-ice Format in the Festival with players changing from the benches and will use Small nets. Scores will be tallied by 2 officials (TK/GameManager) and recorded for U7/U8 games to ensure best matchup for final game (except for U7 Tier 4 where those teams play a 3 game round robin). U7s get 3 games (2 Saturday and 1 Sunday). U8s get 4 games.Â
NO special teams for U7/U8 - Â on penalties the player will sit the remainder of that shift plus the following shift, team will send out a replacement player (we are doing this for the festival as penalties have not been handled consistently at games, this should provide more consistency, reduce disagreement with officials calls, and get more ice-time for all players)
U9 will be a competitive format however all teams will get 4 or 5 games. 3 or 4 game preliminary games followed by playoffs, exact format will be different by "tier" based on number of comparable teams.Â
Submitting scores - All teams should take a photo of their gamesheets and submit immediately following their games as a back-up to the Timekeeper/GameManager submitting them, this will ensure timely AND accurate posting of scores to determine standings within each Tier/Pool. Teams are also encouraged to check with the TK at half-time and at end of game to ensure the score is accurate. Format of Subject line of email to submit to CDScoordinator@gmail.com - Game #2300 U8 SIR Purple 25 NT Pink 23 (and include gamesheet as attachment)
Call-ups - limit call-ups for teams in the Festival to ensure games are representative of how the team performed all season. Goalies would be the main exception if a team is missing a goalie we will be more flexible on bringing out a replacement, within reason. Teams should consult with their clubs CDS/CDP coordinator if call-ups required, and the coordinator should reach out to the CDS/CDP Coordinator if there are issues.
Jersey colours - Home team to wear light coloured jersey, unless Away team only has that same light colour.
Gamesheets - Home team responsible for bringing gamesheet and giving to Away team to add their roster (same as all year).
Game length - U9: 2 min warmup-13-13-15 (last ONE minute stop-time if within 2 goals), U7/U8: 2 min warmup-22-22 (1 puck per goalie in warmup)
No time-outs in any games
Please have players ready 15 minutes ahead of posted game-time as games may start a few minutes early.
3 player shoot-out (both teams shoot at same time)
sudden death shootout (no player may shoot a 2nd time until one team has used all their players)
The bottom of the Tiering tabs for the Festival schedule has the standings that will be updated as scores are sent in (so it is very important to send scores in quickly)
round robin in order without re-starting if more than two teams tied
Points (3 points for a win, 1 for a tie)
head to head
most wins
Lowest Goals Against
Goals For Average GF/(GF+GA)
First goal between tied teams (only for U9)
Coin Toss
Schedule is in a googlesheet below. Both teams should send in game scores to CDSCoordinator@gmail.com to ensure timely updating of scores online. If you notice an error in a score please email gamesheet with what you believe the correct score to be along with Game # (left most column in schedule).
Format of Subject line of email to submit to CDScoordinator@gmail.com - Game #2300 U8 SIR Purple 25 NT Pink 23 (and include gamesheet as attachment)
There are several Tabs in the sheet to make it easier to find your division/tier (i.e. U8 Tier 3).
A few teams have been given either a Bonus game (to use up empty ice) or there is a note beside some teams saying a particular game does NOT count towards the standings (this is to make the schedule work), Bonus games will run just like other Festival games with Officials supplied.
The playoff round games will be updated by Saturday 11pm where decided, and if scores are missing we reserve the right to slot in teams without scores to ensure teams know where they play Sunday. Some playoff placement is decided Sunday morning, these will be updated within an hour of scores being submitted.
Team Meal - Most teams have 4 hours between gametimes on Saturday and/or Sunday to allow for the team to have a meal together should they choose
Medals will be given out at your final game to ALL players.
