Throughout the Neighborhood Development unit you will be working collaboratively with your group to plan, blueprint and build a neighborhood. This project will require you to draw on prior knowledge from our previous Neighborhood Study units, where we looked at Chicago neighborhoods. We will continue to work on answering the essential question of "What does a neighborhood need to thrive?"
During this blended learning experience you will be communicating both in class and through Google Classroom. Due to the collaborative nature of this project, you will be required to be in regular communication with your group in class. The use of Google Classroom will be to facilitate class wide discussions regarding different aspects of the project. Communication with the teacher will be both in class and through Google Classroom.
In order to be successful in this project, you will need to be able to access this site and photograph your groups progress. It is suggested that you use an iPad throughout the course of this project.
Project Rubric
Since we will be working both in class and online, it is important that we talk about group expectations when communicating. Working collaboratively can be very hard sometimes. It is important that you keep an open mind and are willing to make compromises along the way. When you working with your group and you start to feel like a conflict could arise, I want you to refer to our classroom peace talk:
1. Assume Positive Intent
“Did you notice_____?”
2. Advocate for Yourself
“When you ____, it makes me____.”
3. Let Everyone Tell Their Story
4. Get a Teacher If You Need To
