Welcome to Climate Dynamics & Modeling Lab's Website
(M. Park Group)
The Climate Dynamics & Modeling Lab focuses on the various fields of climate science and atmospheric dynamics. Our group (PI: Prof. Mingyu Park) is particularly interested in understanding the physical mechanisms and related societal impacts of atmospheric phenomena spanning from synoptic to planetary-scales and intraseasonal to multi-centennial scales. Relevant examples are precipitation extremes driven by extratropical storm tracks, intense heatwaves driven by atmospheric blocking, and extreme weather events driven by atmospheric teleconnections. The group’s overarching goal is to deepen our understanding of climate variability from multiple perspectives, using a hierarchy of numerical models and observational products.
[Join us in 2026!] Please feel free to contact me (meteopark@unist.ac.kr) regarding the availability of undergraduate internships and graduate programs (M.S., Ph.D). I am always happy to talk with students who are interested in exploring climate science and modeling, who seek to address societally relevant problems through the lens of atmospheric dynamics, and who wish to pursue an academic or research-oriented career.
