YPTP's Summer Camp has programming for ages 5-17. See below for descriptions of each of our programs. Information on Summer 2024 will be posted by early spring!
Junior Troupe
(Ages 5-12)
Our Junior Troupe offers two different camp experiences: Production Camps and Campers Take Control.
Production Camps are two week camp sessions that culminate in a public performance. During the two weeks, students audition (everyone is guaranteed a role!), participate in rehearsals, help to paint the set and pull costumes and props under the guidance of our Production Manager and Interns, and participate in fun theater games. On Friday night, we open the theater doors and welcome the public to come see our performance! All production camps feature professional, published scripts and are directed by a camp staff member.
The Campers Take Control camp sessions are one week camps in which campers create their own short performance. Silliness is encouraged as students raid the costume closet and brainstorm crazy plot lines. At the end of the week, parents are invited to come watch the performances!

Senior Troupe
(Ages 13-17)
Our Senior Troupe puts on two separate performances during the summer. Similar to the Junior Troupe, students only have two weeks to audition, rehearse, and mount their production under the direction of one of our camp staff members. All productions are of professional, published scripts. Senior Troupe members face an age-appropriate rise in the rigor, however -- in addition to performing, students also participate in the design process and participate in more intense character and acting workshops.
At the end of the two weeks, we perform our production for the public!

Internship Program
(Ages 13-17)
Students in the Internship Program tackle the design and technical side of theater. Together, they participate in workshops with theater professionals to learn more about the skills that go into set design and construction, props design, costume design, lighting design, sound design, stage management, backstage management, publicity, and more. Students then have the opportunity to utilize their new skills by taking on a design or management role in the current Junior Troupe production.
