Chiayi Field Trip

Crafts Studio of Jiao-Zhi Pottery & Chien-Nien

The statues, artistic designs, and roof top decorations of Taiwan traditional shrines are usually ceramic work of pottery. The dragons, traditional figures, animals, flowers and all kinds of decorations even mosaic tiles are all delicate work of Chinese style pottery ware.

Bantaoyao Crafts Studio was the first pottery studio uses tunnel kiln to burn pottery in Taiwan. Jiao-Zhi and Chien-Nien are two different methods of making traditional Chinese pottery. In Bantaoyao, all of the above information and skills will be shown and demonstrated even experience them in person.

Singang Incense Artistic Culture Garden

The incense industry, due to the religious purposes, not once hit the bottom. In modern days, incense is used into art, social and fashion for its uniqueness and traditional backgrounds. From large temples to small shrines, incense is required for worships and ceremonies. However, the industry in Taiwan did hit the bottom when the chemical, cheap produced products imported made a huge impact on the local factories.

A traditional incense factory build from scratch, using modern business resources collaborating with partners and later in 2008 becoming the Singang Incense Artistic Culture Garden we see now. Taking the traditional art into the modern phase, Singang Incense Artistic Culture Garden was designated to one of the local culture preservation. There are five major exhibition halls in the garden, organized in culture, living, artistic, original, and atmosphere. Taking guests into the world of incense, how they develop in different countries, how they affect different cultures, the history and the making process of incense, Singang Incense focus on passing down the torch. Besides from the exhibition halls, there’s a restaurant, hostel, DIY classroom, herbal farm, spice garden and a pond. It is great for family to visit with a chance to make your own incense, as well as just an easy sightseeing the herbal gardens.

Taichung National Museum of Natural Science

As one of the most heavily attended museums in Taiwan, and one of the most attended venues in Taichung. The museum has collected and preserved the biological and cultural diversity in Taiwan and neighboring countries. It is a great chance to know more about Taiwan and Taiwan nature.
