I am Carlos Tellez. I am originally from Chicago. I was a high school Spanish teacher from 2005 until 2022. I started my teaching career in New York City as a New York City Teaching Fellow. While teaching in NYC, I coached basketball and tennis.
In 2011, I moved back to Chicago where I worked as a Spanish teacher in suburban school districts (Oak Park & River Forest, Lockport Township HS, Marie Murphy). During this time, I continued working with basketball and tennis programs at the schools where I worked.
Since 2022, I have been in the Phoenix area. I live in Mesa with my wife and two young children. I provide group and private tennis lessons throughout the valley. I also offer group and private Spanish instruction.
As a teacher, my most recent experience is at the high school level in large, high performing high schools. I have experience as a tutor. I have provided Spanish instruction to all ages from adults to early childhood learners.
I have been involved in Spanish instructions long enough to have gone through a few trends. I am certified in Total Physical Response with Story Telling ( TPR-S). I have experience working in full language immersion programs and traditional Spanish as a second language programs. I have worked with adults in the medical field as a Spanish-English interpreter and I have taught small groups basic Spanish medical terminology.
