SCDOE Update - January 21, 2022 - 2021 Data Review Report
Clarification on why EOC results are taking so long to score: The State Department needs more data (more students to take the new EOC) in order to fairly determine cut scores. The State Department will convene this summer to review the data and determine the cut score. Details can be found here.
Shelly Smith (slsmith@ed.sc.gov) is building sample assessments for USHC teachers and students. The sample items have not been field tested and are not on the EOC.
The State Department of Education keeps and shares EOC historical data. To view the data, follow this link: https://ed.sc.gov/data/test-scores/state-assessments/end-of-course-examination-program-eocep/

Visually the EOC looks the same but the focus is now on the skill, not the content. The Office of Assessment is audited on their assessment of the standards and the standards are not only skills or only content.
Field test items will only be on the spring EOC because the fall population is not large enough for adequate data.
Skills are the emphasis/focus and yet the content must be there in order to test the skill. Assessment content comes from the Alignment guide (linked in presentation and also on the State Department website)
These sample items are made up. They will release actual sample items soon.
More data per standard will be given back to teachers/schools.
However, this is a state accountability test, not a formative test for teachers. This test shows how SC is accountable for teaching USHC across the state.
