Sierra College LIFE Project
Recommendations for Community College Leadership
in the IDD to CIE Ecosystem
CA Community Colleges sit at an important intersection of services for intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals in our communities. We are positioned well to leverage our many relationships and drive collaboration between these entities to provide exceptional training and support for the IDD population seeking competitive integrated employment (CIE). This site will help explore this as a recommendation to our colleges.
Mission of the project
This project outlines recommendations for how community colleges can understand the existing support ecosystems, improve and expand programs, implement new strategies, learn about best practices, get tips on overcoming challenges, and access resources with regards to supporting IDD individuals through education to job attainment. May this report and resources help guide growth and success in supporting our IDD students and illustrate the leadership role our institutions can play. Thanks to Sierra College Learning Independence for Future Employment (LIFE) Program for their leadership in this work.
