I don’t have time to pick up other people's trash you think.
“No one from work is answering my calls and texts.” says Nira.
You turn to see Nira standing next to you frowning at her phone. As you dig your phone from your pocket you smell smoke.
“Do you smell that?” you ask Nira.
You rush to the closed door but Nira is faster and grabs the doorknob. She yanks her hand back with a hiss of pain.
“It’s so hot!” she yelps.
You can see smoke flowing in from under the door.
“There’s got to be another way out of here,” you tell Nira.
You both start looking around the room but there are no other windows or doors. Something on the wall catches your eye and you turn to Nira.
“There’s a large air vent near the floor. We can crawl through that.” you tell her.
With Nira’s help you pull the cover from the vent and look inside. The air duct looks just barely big enough for you to fit.
