If you want a complete, multi-piece solution to restore smooth operation and silence across your entire hinge system, choose CCNU Tailgate Bushing Kit; if you need a targeted, single-sided replacement for the passenger side of your truck bed, choose Adorainbow Right Rear Tailgate. This distinction is critical for any teen driver managing their first vehicle repair project or helping a parent fix a noisy tailgate without overspending on unnecessary parts.
• CCNU Tailgate Bushing Kit: Its greatest strength is providing a full four-piece set that addresses friction and wear on both sides simultaneously, but it requires checking specific model years for compatibility before ordering.
• Adorainbow Right Rear Tailgate: Its biggest advantage is its precise, single-unit design focused solely on the rear passenger side for effortless lifting, yet it leaves the driver's side unrepaired if that area is also worn.
• The Verdict: The CCNU kit is the right pick for a comprehensive restoration job, while the Adorainbow unit is the logical choice for a quick, localized fix on one specific hinge.
This kit is designed for the owner who hears that dreaded squeak every time they open the trunk or notices the gate swinging loosely. The core function here is reducing friction between the hinge pivot points. By replacing the worn inserts with high-strength ABS material, the goal is to eliminate noise, vibration, and loose hinge issues that make daily use frustrating. If your tailgate drags or rattles when closing, this four-piece set targets the root cause by restoring the original geometry of the connection points.
You are not just swapping out one broken part; you are addressing the entire pivot assembly. The snap-in installation design is particularly relevant for those without a mechanic's toolkit. The lack of special tools required means a teen driver or a DIY enthusiast can tackle this weekend project without needing to visit a shop or buy expensive equipment. The durability comes from the weather resistance and anti-aging properties of the ABS construction, which ensures the parts hold up under repeated use and exposure to the elements.
However, this product is only for you if your vehicle matches the extensive list of compatible models, including Dodge Ram 1500/2500/3500 from the late 90s and early 2000s, or various Ford F-Series trucks ranging from 1987 to 2006. The sheer number of OEM replacements it covers (such as 55274936AE and E7TZ99430B22A) indicates a broad application, but it demands careful verification. If you have a newer model or a different brand entirely, this kit will not fit. It is best suited for the classic truck owner looking for a total overhaul of the tailgate mechanism rather than a minor tweak.

The Adorainbow option takes a much more surgical approach. It is a single-unit plastic grommet specifically engineered for the right rear passenger side of the truck bed. If you have isolated damage or wear only on that specific side, buying a full kit like the CCNU would be an unnecessary expense and installation effort. This component focuses on precision manufacturing to ensure a tight fit that prevents dents and maintains the sleek appearance of the vehicle.
Its primary utility lies in enhancing the overall appeal and functionality of the tailgate. A worn bushing on one side can cause the gate to hang unevenly, leading to gaps or difficulty latching. By replacing just the right rear bushing, you restore the balance needed for smooth and effortless lifting. It seamlessly integrates with the existing hardware, meaning you don't need to replace the entire hinge assembly, just the internal plastic insert that has likely cracked or compressed over time.
This product is ideal for the budget-conscious buyer or the student driver who needs to perform a quick maintenance task. Since it is a single piece, the installation process is likely faster and less intimidating than handling a four-piece kit with multiple sizes. It is a "must-have" accessory for maintaining the functionality of the tailgate without committing to a full system rebuild. However, it offers no benefit if the issue is actually on the driver's side or if the hinges themselves are bent. It is strictly a replacement for the passenger-side pivot point, so verify your problem location before purchasing.
• Best for Complete Noise Elimination → CCNU Tailgate Bushing Kit: Since it replaces all pivot points, it stops creaking and rattling across the entire width of the tailgate, whereas the single unit only fixes one side.
• Best for Targeted Passenger Side Repair → Adorainbow Right Rear Tailgate: If the left side operates fine, this is the most efficient way to address the sagging or sticking on the right side without installing extra parts you don't need.
• Best for Comprehensive Fitment → CCNU Tailgate Bushing Kit: With multiple sizes included, it accommodates various wear patterns and fits a wider range of older Dodge and Ford models compared to the single-size Adorainbow unit.
• Best for Quick, Minimalist Installation → Adorainbow Right Rear Tailgate: Handling one small piece is generally faster and simpler than sorting through a kit with three different dimensions.
• Best for Durability Under Heavy Use → CCNU Tailgate Bushing Kit: The four-piece heavy-duty set provides redundant protection against wear, ensuring long-lasting performance across all hinge points.
• Best for Budget-Conscious Fixes → Adorainbow Right Rear Tailgate: Buying one part is almost always cheaper than buying a four-part kit, making it the smarter financial choice for minor repairs.
• Best for Teen Drivers Learning Maintenance → CCNU Tailgate Bushing Kit: The variety of sizes teaches attention to detail and proper alignment, offering a slightly more educational repair experience.
• Best for Immediate Functionality Restoration → Adorainbow Right Rear Tailgate: If you need the gate to lift smoothly today and know exactly where the problem is, this single unit gets the job done instantly.
In my opinion, the CCNU Tailgate Bushing Kit is the superior choice for most situations because it solves the problem comprehensively. Even if you think only one side is bad, the other side is likely wearing down soon, and fixing both at once saves you time and money in the long run. For a teen driver, having a fully restored, silent tailgate is a significant upgrade to their daily driving experience. I would recommend the CCNU kit because it offers a complete solution with durable materials that prevent future issues, ensuring the tailgate operates smoothly for years to come.
Yes, because it replaces all four pivot points, it eliminates friction and noise across the entire tailgate, whereas a single bushing only fixes one side.
Both products feature simple designs intended for easy installation, but the CCNU kit explicitly notes a snap-in design requiring no special tools for a quick repair.
No, it is a specific replacement for the right rear passenger side and may not match the exact specifications of every vehicle without checking the fitment details.
The CCNU kit uses high-strength ABS with excellent impact resistance for all four points, offering a robust defense against weather and aging compared to a single standard plastic insert.
