Anyhow, CCleaner's "windows logs files -system ... analyze" does not find them, and adding them to "custom files and folders ... analyze" does not find them. Unlocker shows them locked by ...system32/services.exe, but you can delete them. After that, the event viewer still shows the same info as before they were deleted. Cannot tell what would happen after a reboot.

Cleaning the windows.old folder breaks windows for many people. Some of the stuff in the folder are still used by Windows and slowly are migrated out. Use windows inbuilt cleaner to remove window.old (if storage sense even does that now that cleanmgr is gone).

So i downloaded latest version and i've noticed in tools section startup, windows services which can be disable or even remove... Why the hell you are put this? This function never was before. You want that users screwed up with that by accidentally doing something in windows services? Basically i love this ccleaner programm, been using many years but when you bought it from original company and adding nonsense function, tools etc it makes programm unsafe...

I'm running ccleaner at the moment and it's not working properly because ccleaner browser will not close. I've gone into task manager and it doesn't work re ccleaner browser, you just can't close this thing down.

Also note that CCleaner Portable is designed to be run from a removable USB stick. You should not be running CCleaner Portable or any other portable application from your desktop since this will create subfolders and files (e.g., ...\Data, ...\Log, ...\Setup, ...\x86, ...x64, ...\Lang and the ccleaner.ini file) on your desktop.

I created a folder called E:\Portable\CCleaner on a removable USB stick and I unzip the ccsetup6xx.zip file there. When I want to run CCleaner I plug that USB stick into my computer and run the CClean64.exe executable. When I want to update CCleaner Free Portable I delete all the files and subfolders in E:\Portable CCleaner except ccleaner.ini (you want to keep this ccleaner.ini file since this is where your configurations settings are stored), download the latest ccsetup6xx.zip from and save it to that E:\Portable\CCleaner folder, and then unzip to re-create all the necessary files on my USB stick.

CCleaner Portable is designed to be run from a removable USB stick. < This is the key point!

I copied and pasted the portable ccleaner folder to a USB drive first then I run the .exe directly and the main window can prompt!

I ran into a similar problem as you last week because I copied all my portable apps (including CCleaner) from an 8 GB USB 2.0 stick to a faster 16 GB USB 3.0 stick. All my other portable apps ran correctly, but CCleaner would not launch from the new USB 3.0 stick even though I could see CCleaner64.exe running in Task Manager and consuming high amounts of CPU and memory. I eventually realized that the problem occurred because the new USB 3.0 stick was assigned the drive letter D:\ when it was plugged in and my CCleaner program was now in D:\Portable\CCleaner, which did not match the expected location in my registry of E:\Portable\CCleaner. This is one of the many problems that can occur when a portable app like CCleaner creates registry entries instead of storing all necessary data in the local ccleaner.ini file (see my 21-Jul-2023 post about this in Wisewiz's Welcome back to CCleaner Professional ???).

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work. If I start ccleaner as a non admin, the installer runs and needs and admin account. ccleaner then runs as the admin account, so cleaning of the non-admin account doesn't work

Windows 10 changes the registry often which can give false results.

For the official Piriform advice on using the CCleanerRegistry Cleaner see this: -i-get-a-registry-error-on-ccleaner-on-windows-10-i-have-scanned-5-times/?tab=comments#comment-326804

some people who use norton antivirus also have mentioned having problems. avira is owned by norton and i am thinking that in both cases it is the same problem where those av-programs are creating a folder within the "c:\windows\temp" folder which is removed by ccleaner's cleaning, resulting in problems.

i think it would be easy for ccleaner/piriform/avast to fix the conflict with the avira program, which i am thinking also applies to the norton program, by simply setting ccleaner to ignore the folder that is created by the avira program, which probably also is created by the norton av-program, within the "c:\windows\temp" folder.

after contacting microsoft and spending about 5 days with various team support and level 2 engineers and developers. I was told to do this by ccleaner support which helped but then I had to deal with the other issues generated by the new installation of windows and deletion of previous files. Hope this works for you.

Hello, I've been using CCleaner professional on my PC and laptop for quite a while now. Recently, microsoft did one of their forced updates on my laptop, and now I cannot get CCleaner to open. (windows 10)

That's not really true, there are windows updates etc. Happens many times that an error coincides with install of a program but its not the cause: To find the error I would delete Norton and see if the problem persists, if it does, its not Norton. If its solved it is Norton. Then take it from there.
