Mr. and Mrs. George Uhlig celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary Sunday at the Green Vista recreation room. The couple was married July 27, 1927 at Curtiss.
The festivities began with a family picnic dinner at the Dale Wagner home at Curtiss at noon, followed by open house at the Green Vista.
The Rev. Robert Spencer, and the Rev. Lillian Jensen and daughter Karen offered prayers and sang several selections, for which a special thank you is given by the family.
A special surprise for their grandparents was the presence of Mrs. Patty Cox of Hayward, Ill., and her husband, Wayne, who has returned from Vietnam.
The children present were Mr. and Mrs. George (Carol) Brown, Eagle, Michigan; Mr. and Mrs. Dale (Paulette) Wagner and family, Curtiss; Mrs. Myrtle McCormick and sons, Hayward, Ill.; Mrs. Delores Johnson and family, Hayward, Ill.; Mrs. Evelyn Waling and family of Guggla, Minn.; and relatives and friends from Milwaukee, La Cross, Marshfield, and the area.
Refreshments were served from 2 until 4 p.m., and the couple received many good wishes, cards and gifts.

Mr. and Mrs. William Uhlman celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home Sunday, May 31.
Open House was held in the afternoon and evening with approximately 150 relatives and friends calling to extend their congratulations.
A large cake made in the shape of a book opened in the center was frosted in white with gold trimmings. It was titled "Our Memory Book." The cake was the centerpiece on the table that was decorated with gold streamers.
The coupe received many gifts from their friends and relatives.
The afternoon and evening were spent playing cards and visiting, after which a lunch was served.
Close relatives attending the celebration were: Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Mills and family, Owen; Mr. and Mrs. Everett Shaw and family, Christie; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Groth and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Walter, Oconomowoc. Mrs. Groth, Mrs. Walter and Mrs. Uhlman are sisters.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter were the attendants of Mr. and Mrs. Uhlman at their wedding in Lebanon, Dodge County, 50 years ago.
Mrs. Augusta Krueger of Greenwood, Mr. Uhlman’s sister, also attended the celebration.
Unger, Mr. and Mrs. Adolph (Golden - 24 June 1965)

Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Unger of Neillsville will observe their golden wedding anniversary today (Thursday) with their sons and their families in Sheboygan.
The observance will be carried out without "a lot of hoo-rah," which has characterized their life together from the start. Just before their wedding on June 24, 1915, in Phillips, Mrs. Unger (then Miss Ethel Smith) sent a guest list for the wedding to Mr. Unger at Neillsville. He wrote his fiancée briefly: "If you’re going to have a lot of hoo-rah, I won’t be there."
He was, of course; but the incident has set the pace for the married lives of the Ungers. Theirs has been a quiet life, spent entirely in the city of Neillsville.
The observance will be held at the home of their son, Robert, and his family. Present will be their elder son, James, and his family, who presently reside in Oshkosh. Robert is Vice principal at Sheboygan South High School, which has an enrollment of 1,400 pupils. They have a son, David, who is five.
James is professor of biology at Wisconsin State University - Oshkosh, where he heads the biology department. He has a doctor of philosophy degree; is the father of a daughter, Ann, who is nine.
The Ungers have spent all of their married life in Neillsville, where Mr. Unger operated a shoe store until his retirement in 1949. For many years the store as located in the building south of the First National Bank, of which Mr. Unger is the owner.
Mrs. Unger is the daughter of the late Attorney and Mrs. James Smith of Phillips. She was born in Knapp, and lived briefly in Eau Claire before her father set up a legal practice in Phillips. She attended school there, and Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill. She is a 50-year member of the Northwestern University Alumni Association. It was while she was teaching English in Neillsville High School that she met Mr. Unger.
Mr. Unger is a native of Neillsville, having been born in this city on April 9, 1888, to Anton and Agnes (Hanchman) Unger. For many years he observed his birthday on April 8; but the error was discovered during World War II by Mrs. Unger when she was asked to look up the birth certificate of one of her sons, who needed it for army reasons. She looked up Mr. Unger’s certificate at the same time, and found that the mid-wife had duly filed it in courthouse records. The date given there on was April 9.
For many years Mr. Unger’s father plied his trade as a custom shoemaker, a trade which he learned in Germany before coming to the United States, in the Lowe building now occupied by the Mabie Barber Shop. In 1905 he purchased the present Unger building. Mr. Unger joined his father in the shoe business here and maintained the business throughout his business life.

Mr. and Mrs. Emil Untiedt celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, March 22, at Peace Evangelical and Reformed church parish hall at Dorchester.
Mr. and Mrs. Untiedt came from Iowa to a farm in the town of Mayville in 1920. They lived there for 20 years and then moved to their present farm where Mr. Untiedt is active in farming and carpentering.
The couple has four children: Mrs. Oscar (Dorothy) Koerner, Abbotsford; Otto Untiedt, Edgar; Len F. Untiedt, San Francisco, Calif.; and Mrs. Arthur (Marion) Vergenz, Madison. There are seven grand children and seven great grand children.

Upsons, Former Spencer, Wisconsin residents, Mark 50th Wedding Anniversary
Spencer--Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vanderhoof, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Voelker, and Mr. and Mrs. John Shortiss, attended a golden wedding anniversary celebration at Phillips Tuesday, Oct. 10, given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Juddy Upson, former residents of Spencer, Wis.
The Upsons were married in Spencer, Oct. 10, 1900. Their attendants at their wedding, Mr. and Mrs. Mert Hayward, Park Falls, were also present at this gathering. Residing in Spencer for a number of years, the Upsons moved to Mott, N. D., where they lived for 27 years. In 1933, they moved to Phillips, and have lived there since.
Mr. and Mrs. Upson have two sons, Ervin, Dorchester, and Owen, Phillips.

Ione Stevens, daughter of Mrs. Gladys Stevens and the late Irving Stevens and Jack Urban, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Urban, were married in the United Methodist Church August 11, 1951, and have farmed in the Town of Washburn all their married life. They have two daughters, Mrs. David (Debbie) Vine and Brenda who is employed in Milwaukee, and a grandson, Danny Vine.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ure celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary at their home Sunday with a dinner and supper served to several relatives.
Robert Ure was born in Lynn, April 29, 1893, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ure. Mrs. Ure was born in Lynn January 29, 1901, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sternitzky. The Ures have always lived on the home farm.
The Ures have five children: Mrs. Urban (Lila) Schmidt of Neillsville; Lloyd, on the home farm; Ronald, Town of Fremont; Muriel, at home; Mrs. Duane (Retta) Rollins of Chili; and 12 grandchildren.
Mrs. Raymond Sternitzky, wife of Mrs. Ure’s brother, baked the three-tiered wedding cake.

Brothers of Mrs. Ure are; Joseph, Leo, Gilbert and Raymond Sternitzky; sisters are Mrs. Carl (Edna) Jens and Mrs. Frieda Johnson. Ed Ure of Junction City is a brother of Robert Ure, Mrs. Ed (Marian) Lindow of Chili and Mrs. Wilbur (Gladys) Claire of Elroy are sisters of Robert Ure.

Mr. and Mrs. Francis Urlaub of Neillsville were honored Sunday morning, September 12, in observance of their 40th wedding anniversary at the 8 a.m. Mass at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Fr. Henseler officiated.
A noon anniversary dinner held for the family at the Wildcat Inn, was followed by an afternoon open house from 2 to 5 p.m.
Francis Urlaub and the former Bernice Lothspeich were married October 20, 1936, at St. Alphonse’s Church at Langdon, N.D., the home of Mrs. Urlaub. Mr. Urlaub was born and grew up at Walhalla, N.D.
They lived at Walhalla until 1942 when they moved to San Diego, Ca., where they lived until 1951. In March of that year, they came to the Neillsville area and lived on a dairy farm in the Town of Weston for 24 years. The Urlaub’s retired from farming in April of 1971 and moved to the city.
They have three children: Benny Urlaub, who lives south of Neillsville and is postmaster at Chili; Mrs. Lee (Janis) Steinhilber, who resides at Wisconsin Rapids where her husband is employed by the Social Security Administration; and Mrs. Eugene (Beverly) Bryan of Rt. 1, Neillsville, whose husband is employed by a construction firm. Mr. and Mrs. Urlaub have 14 grandchildren.
Mrs. Eldon Fleckley of Seattle, Wa., Mrs. Urlaub’s sister who was the bridal attendant at the wedding, was present for the ceremony, along with her husband, Eldon. An aunt, Ethel Bouslog, also attended.
Albert Urlaub, of St. Cloud, Mn., the couple’s other attendant, was unable to attend.
Mr. Urlaub’s sister, Mrs. Andy (Rosina) Ermer of Buffalo, N.Y., was also present Sunday for the anniversary observance.
