Loyal - The 50th anniversary of their marriage Nov. 19, 1907, was celebrated several months early Saturday, Aug. 31, by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pachel, who since their retirement in 1948 have been residents here. Mr. Pachel is assessor for the city of Loyal.
The day’s festivities began with a reception from 2 to 5 o’clock that afternoon in Braun’s party room and at 7 o’clock the couple was honored at a supper served in Trinity Lutheran Church parlors, which were decorated for the occasion with gold-colored chrysanthemums and dahlias.
Eighty-five persons were served at the supper after which the Rev. John Pfohl, pastor of the church with which they are affiliated, gave church blessing and also furnished a resume of their lives.
Grandchildren of the honor couple enacted a mock wedding in the evening and from 9 o’clock until midnight music was furnished at the party room for a social time.
The Pachals received an umbrella on which was fastened $50, a gift from their children - Louis and Frank Pachal, both of route 1, Loyal; Mrs. Alvin (Adela) Goutcher, route 1, Unity; and Mrs. Alvin (Alice) Laverne, route 4, Neillsville, all of whom were present for the occasion with their husbands or wives.
A corsage of yellow roses and lily of the valley was fastened at the shoulder line of the frock chosen by Mrs. Pachal for the golden wedding celebration and her husband had a single yellow rose pinned to his lapel. Frank Walecka, Kewaunee, and Mrs. Gust Pilgrim, Wausau, who were attendants at the 1907 nuptials of their friends, were here for Saturday’s event.
Mr. Pachal, who was born in Wausau, was reared by his grandparents in Kewaunee after the death of his father when he was 1 ½ years old. He received his education in the Kewaunee County Public School, after which he worked in logging camps in the north woods during the winter months and on farms in the summer.
After his marriage to the former Agnes Roadt, daughter of the late Jacob Roadts, in St. John’s Churh of Krok, they resided at Krok for 1 ½ years and then he was employed in a Rhinelander factory before moving to the town of Beaver, Clark County, in 1910, purchasing the farm on which they lived for nearly 39 ½ years prior to their retirement.
Mr. Pachal was East Beaver Clerk for 23 years; chairman of the town of Beaver for 14 years and for the past four years has been serving as assessor for the city of Loyal. He enjoys good health and still calls wood cutting his hobby. Mrs. Pachal, who also claims her health in good, enjoys her gardening and flower growing. She received her education in the same school her husband attended and had been doing general housework before her marriage.
The Pachals, who beside their four children also have 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, have had no deaths in their immediate family during their 50 years of marriage.

Great-Grandchildren present were Jimmy Pachel, Loyal; Larry Briski, Greenwood; and Jack Langfeldt, Marshfield. One grandchild, Wilfred Langfeldt, and his family were unable to come from El Paso, Texas.

Rev. Pfohl gave a brief summary of the life of the honored couple:
Mr. Pachal was born in Wausau. When he was 1 ½ years old, his father died and he was raised by his grandparents in Kewaunee, where he met the former Agnes Roadt. They got married in St. John’s Church of Krok on November 19, 1907. They farmed there for one and one-half years, then moved to Rhinelander for nine months.
In 1910 they moved to the Township of Beaver, on a farm, where they made their home for 39 years. They built their present home in Loyal in 1948. They have four children, 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Their grandchildren held a mock wedding.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pacholke (Clark Co., Wis.) of Colby celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last Friday. A large number of friends and relatives gathered for the celebration which was held in St. John’s Evangelical Church hall.
Streamers of white and yellow served as room decorations, and yellow candles, yellow flowers, and a wedding cake adorned with gold coins were attractivel arranged on the tables, at which covers were laid for 85. After the meal, an anniversary address was delivered by the pastor, the Rev. G.F. Hahn, and Mrs. Hahn sang two German selections. The program further included a vocal duet, "When Your Hair Has Turned to Silver," by Bernice Pacholke and Iris Hederer, the latter of Marshfield.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Pacholke are natives of Germany. The former was born June 8, 1859, and Mrs. Pacholke, whose maiden name was Bertha Saulden, was born Nov. 18, 1860. They were married in their native land and eight years later came to America. They established a home in Pennsylvania, and remained there nine years, coming to the town of Hull (Marathon Co.) near Colby, in 1899. They settled on the farm where they lived until their removal to Colby twelve years ago.
Of the 13 children born to them, eleven are living, and all were present Friday evening. They include Mrs. E.A. Stichert, Sheboygan; Fred Pacholke, Owen; Mrs. Otto Witte, Mrs. Arnold Amundson, Mrs. Charles Hanne, William Pacholke, Mrs. Louis Young, John, Louis and Howard, all of Colby, and Edward of Abbotsford, Wis. Mr. and Mrs. Pacholke also have 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pacholke celebrated their fiftieth or golden wedding anniversary at their home Sunday. Cards were enjoyed and supper served to approximately sixty guests. The rooms were nicely decorated in gold and white streamers and cut flowers of tulips and snapdragons. In the evening, dancing and further festivities were enjoyed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Pacholke. The couple received many fine and useful gifts including a number of gold coins.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Pacholke were born in Germany and were married May 13, 1884, in Caeslin, Germany. They came to the United States three years later, settling in Topeka, Kansas. Before coming to Wisconsin, they also lived for several years in Pennsylvania. They made Colby their home the past twenty years. They have one son, William C. Pacholke, in the plumbing and heating business in Colby and also supervisor and alderman of the first ward. Mr. Pacholke has one brother, Frederich, Colby, and two sisters in Germany, and Mrs. Pacholke has a sister living in Germany. They are members of St. John’s Evangelical church, Mrs. Pacholke being a member of the Ladies Aid Society. Mr. Pacholke is a member of the Modern Woodmen of America.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pacholke, Sr., were honored guests at a golden wedding celebration, arranged by their children, in the St. John’s church hall last Friday evening. Eighty-five relatives and friends were present.

After a sumptuous meal, Rev. G. F. Hahn, pastor of the St. John’s Ev. Church, delivered a very interesting golden wedding anniversary address, Mrs. G. F. Hahn sang two German songs and Bernice Pacholke of Colby and Iris Hederer of Marshfield sang a vocal duet, "When Your Hair Has Turned To Silver."
Mr. and Mrs. Pacholke received many beautiful gifts including five dollar gold pieces.
Both Mr. and Mrs. Pacholke were born in Germany, the former on June 8, 1859, and Mrs. Pacholke, whose maiden name was Bertha Soldon, was born Nov. 18, 1860. They were married in Germany, but, eight years later, came to the United States and made their home in Pennsylvania. Nine years later, in 1899, they settled on a farm in the town of Hull, now owned by Paul Smith, where they lived until twelve years ago, when they moved to the city of Colby. They are numbered among the pioneers of this section and endured some of the hardships and privations of the early days.
Thirteen children were born to them, eleven of whom are still living, and all were present at the celebration. They are Mrs. Louis Young, Colby; Mrs. E. A. Stichert, Sheboygan; Mrs. Otto Witte, Colby; Mrs. Arnold Amundson, Colby; Mrs. Chas. Hanne, Colby; Mrs. W. C. Pacholke, Colby; Mr. John Pacholke, Colby; Mrs. Fred Pacholke, Jr., Owen; Mr. Louie Pacholke, Unity; Mr. Edward Pacholke, Abbotsford; Mr. Howard Pacholke, at home. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pacholke, Sr. also have twenty-one grand children and five great grand children.

Mr. and Mrs. John Pacholke of Cable, formerly of the Colby area, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Sunday, April 19, at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Pacholke at Cable.
The former Marie Fuhrmann and John Pacholke were married at Colby April 22, 1914. For a time they farmed in the Colby area and then moved to Colby and operated a tavern. About 18 years ago they moved to Cranberry Lake at Cable, Wis.
The Pacholkes have two children, a son, Herbert, at Cable, and a daughter, Mrs. Rudy Fults, Abbotsford. There are five grand children and two great grand children.
Mrs. Pacholke has four living sisters: Mrs. Richard Goldschmidt of Colby, Mrs. Herman Ungrecht of Caledonia, Mrs. Jean Thiel of Saratoga, Wyo., and Mrs. Tillie Helm of Coos Bay, Ore., and one brother, Albert Fuhrmann, of Butternut.
Mr. Pacholke as six living sisters: Miss Tillie Pacholke, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Henne, Mrs. Bertha Young and Mrs. Minnie Witt, all of Colby, Mrs. Anna Streckert of Sheboygan and Mrs. Amelia Amundson of Green Bay; and four brothers: Fred Pacholke and Ed Pacholke of Abbotsford, Howard Pacholke of Sauk City and Louis Pacholke of Butternut.

A family gathering was held Sunday at the Theron Pagel home in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pagel Sr., on their 58th wedding anniversary.
Eleven of their thirteen children were present for the occasion. Potluck dinner and supper were served to the following: Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pagel Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Pagel Sr. celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary, Sunday, June 30th. A dinner was held at the Thorpedo for the immediate family at noon, and open house at their home in the afternoon, with many relatives and friends attending.
As a special honor to their deserving parents, Mrs. Alice Danielewicz wrote an article titled "Over the Years With Our Mom and Dad," which she read following the meal. Comments were made by members of the family and enjoyed by all.
"We are gathered here today to help our mom and dad celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary. This is indeed a happy occasion and we children wish to express our love and appreciation to our mom and dad on this, their day. I have title this 'Over the Years with Our Mom and Dad,' so we will go back 60 years and relate some of the events during their married life.
"Our mom and dad were married June 30th, 1908 at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.). The first 3 years they lived at Gilman, where our dad worked at Heagle's Heading Mill and in the lumber camps during the winter. Two children were born while in Gilman, Leora and Henry. In 1911 they bought 80 acres of wild land southwest of Reseburg, built a log house and barn and stated farming. They worked hard clearing the land, and later built a frame hous. John, Louie Jr., Julia and Evelyn were born on this farm. In the fall of 1918 they bought his mother's farm, located 1 mile east and 1 1/4 miles south of Reseburg. We all received our education at Reseburg State Graded School. Our mom and dad are lifetime members of the Lutheran Church, and we all were baptized and confirmed in that faith. Fred, Allie, Alene, Nettie, Florence, Theron, Mary Ann and I were born here. On Aug. 24th, 1921, our mom gave birth to triplet girls, the first in the relation and the first in Clark County. There was much excitement as the new spread, with people coming from far and near to see th babies. I am sure there were many anxiety filled days and sleepless night, but with their tender loving care we survived. The in June of 1922, Good took our triplet sister, Alene, to her eternal home. Time passed and in 1928 a tornado hit, destroying the barn. It was rebuilt that same summer. They worked very hard and endured many hardships along the way. In the winter of 1933, our dad was ill with erysipelas, spending many months in bed and the wheelchair. I am sure most of us can remember those days. In 1937 our Aunt Clara passed away, and our mom and dad took the baby, Gordon, then 9 months old, and raised him. Two of our brothers served our country during war, Louie Jr. in the 2nd World War in Germany, and Theron in the Korean War. Gordon served in the Armed forces, also 3 grandsons, Gerald Pagel, Richard Leskinen and Paul Pagel, now in Vietnam.
"Our dad served as Treasurer of the town of Reseburg for several years, and mom has been a longtime member of the Ladies Aid and Ladies Auxiliary.
They sold their farm in 1946 and bought a place 1/2 mile east of Thorp, and 1 1/2 years later moved the house to its present place. Dad worked for the city of Thorp until 1956, an also had the job of hauling mail for several years. He stated patrolling school children and just finished his 10th school term.
In 1958 they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with all 13 children present. Now another ten years have passed and we are together again, only now there are 12. Our brother Henry passed away in November 1966, and we will miss him ver much. Julia and Mary Ann were not able to be here today, and we miss them too. We are happy to have our Aunt Jessie and Uncle Walter, Uncle Paul and Aunt Emma and Aunt Mary with us today. They have 51 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews living all over this big wide world. Their oldest grandchild is Florence Dudansky Wald and the youngest is Mary Leskinen. Their oldest great-grandchild is Jacky Wald and the youngest is Cheryl Herrick.
"In closing now I am sure that going 'Over the Years with Our Mom and Dad' has brought back many memories to them and all of us and I hope each of you can relate some events that you remember in addition to what I have written. A group of members of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church drove out to the Herman Pagenkopf home Sunday evening to surprise Mr. and Mrs. Pagenkopf on their Silver wedding anniversary. Their marriage took place at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church 25 years ago; Rev. H. Brandt performed the rites.
The couple began housekeeping on the farm in the Town of Grant where the groom had lived for five years, working the farm and preparing the home for his bride and this has been their home since their marriage.
Two children, Victor and Helen, were born to this union. Victor teaches school and Helen is a stenographer at the sewing branch of the relief office.
A very pleasant evening was spent, Rev. Baumann giving an appropriate thanksgiving message in honor of the event, followed by congratulations and a lunch, which has been prepared by the visitors.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pakiz of Greenwood celebrated their Silver wedding anniversary November 25.
Festivities began with an anniversary mass at 9 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard with the Rev. Michael Mertens officiating. Saturday evening 150 guests helped the couple celebrate at the Legion Hall in Greenwood. The anniversary cake, baked by Mrs. William Volovsek, was served with the supper and dancing was enjoyed.
Mr. Pakiz and Roseline Plautz were married November 30, 1946, in the Holy Family parsonage. Attendants were George Plautz, Helen (Korach) Richards and Frances Plautz (deceased). They have farmed since their marriage five miles southwest of Greenwood.
All of their children and grandchildren were present except a son, Larry, who is serving in the armed forces in Germany. Those present were Dennis and Patrice Pakiz, at home, David, a senior at Superior State university, two grandchildren, Becky Marie and Michael David Pakiz, and Relatives and friends from Milwaukee, Wausau, Cadott, Neillsville, Owen, Marshfield and Superior.

Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Panke of Colby celebrated their fiftieth or golden wedding anniversary Sunday, September 17th, 1932. The reception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allmann, tables being set for forty and were beautifully decorated in gold paper and flowers. Five tables were filled with people playing pinochle. They played at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Panke. The rooms in the house were also nicely decorated with flowers and gold crepe paper. Winners at cards were Mrs. Fred Lindner, high; Mr. Fred Weller, high; Mrs. Fred Weller, low; Mr. Fred Courtney, low; Mrs. Fred Lindner, traveling prize.
Mrs. Panke was born in Gross Sauerken, East Prussia, Germany, January 1st, 1850, and therefore is eighty-two years of age. Mr. Panke was born in Himmefahrt, East Prussia, Germany, September 30th, 1857, and therefore is seventy-five years of age. They were married in Liebmuehlen, East Prussia, Germany, on Sept. 17, 1882, and arrived in the United States November 7, 1883, at New York and in Colby November 11, 1883. They had seven children, five of whom died. The two still living are Frank Panke of Park Falls and Mrs. Paul Draeger of Colby.
When Mr. and Mrs. Panke arrived in Colby, forty-nine years ago, this country was mostly woods and about all that was in Colby was a depot, a hotel and a store. Mr. Panke helped build the local Lutheran church and he and Mrs. Panke are charter members of the St. John’s Ev. church. Both can remember many hardships of the early pioneer. In fact, some of them started while still on the boat coming here, for, while on their way to this country, the boat sprung a leak and everybody was obliged to pump and carry water to save the boat from sinking.

Mr. and Mrs. Carl Pankow celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last Monday evening. About sixty friends and neighbors participated in the festivities. Mr. Pankow is 86 years of age and Mrs. Pankow is 80. They were united in marriage at Rock Island, Ill. For the past nineteen years they have made their home on a farm north of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). Four children were born to this couple, Mrs. Herman Stack of Withee, Carl and Minnie at home, and Martha, who passed away 11 years ago. They also have six grandchildren. During the evening a delicious lunch was served and before the guests departed they presented Mr. and Mrs. Pankow with a sum of money. Mr. and Mrs. Pankow are both enjoying good health and their many friends in this section hope that they may have the good fortune to celebrate many more anniversaries.

Mr. and Mrs. William Pape of Route 1, Owen, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary recently.
The William Papes were married in Davenport, Ia., on January 25, 1910. Her maiden name was Minnie Ploog. Later they moved to Clinton, Ia., where Mr. Pape, was employed with the Northwestern Railway Company. They also lived for two years in Belvidere, Ill., before coming to Clark County in 1914. They lived in Owen for four years, and in 1918 moved onto their present location, north of Owen.
Four children were born: a son, Edward of Wausau; Mrs. Jens (Irma) Miller of Cadott; Mrs. Russel (Cleo) Dearth of Prentice; and Mrs. Harold (Clara) Schoffer of rural Owen.
Mr. and Mrs. Pape are now retired on their farm home and still enjoying excellent health.

Mr. and Mrs. Anton Papierniak celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at their home here (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) on Sunday, July 4th, 1943. They were fortunate in having their nine children here for the occasion and the event was one of happy reunion.
Anton and Julia repeated the vows which made them man and wife on July 3, 1893, at St. Stanislaus Church, Cleveland, Ohio, again at St. Hedwig’s Church here in a ceremony performed by Father Francis Piekarski at an 8 o’clock mass Sunday.
The Golden Wedding procession was led by Sgt. Edward Papierniak, a grandson, and Sgt. Anton Papierniak Jr., a son, followed in turn by Mr. and Mrs. Anton Papierniak, and Rev. F. Piekarski and the sons and daughters with their families.
The altar was beautifully decorated with gold artificial flowers and each celebrant wore a corsage or bouquet of flowers.
After the ceremony the happy couple were presented with golden rosaries by the grandchildren.
Anton Papierniak came to Thorp 52 years ago as one of the pioneer woodsmen and farmers. Upon his marriage two years later he purchased a piece of land northeast of here and besides clearing that and raising a family he fired for the Cirkel Heading Mill for twenty years.
Mr. and Mrs. Papierniak, who are now 73 and 67 years old respectively, retired from farming in 1925 and moved to the village of Thorp where they built a home and have enjoyed life to its utmost with still many more years to look forward to.

Mr. and Mrs. Anton Papierniak of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary (jubilee) on July 4th, 1953.
The couple attended an 8:00 o’clock Mass at St. Hedwig’s Chapel and afterward breakfast was served at St. Hedwig’s School basement where their nine children joined them with their families and guests to the number of sixty-five in celebrating the event. Dinner and supper was also served.
The tables were beautifully decorated with golden flowers and candles and a large three-tier cake was presented the couple by their great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Papierniak of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) gathered on Saturday, October 2, 1971 to help them celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. They attended Mass of Thanksgiving at 4:00 p.m. at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. A reception was held at the American Legion Hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Papierniak were married at St. Hedwig’s Church on September 20, 1921.
They have five children, Mrs. Bob Cattanach (Irene), Neillsville, Wisconsin; Mrs. Bud Pitt (Dorothy) Waukesha, Wisconsin; Mrs. Harry Koslo (Judith) Germantown, Wisconsin; Bud Papierniak of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; Don Papierniak, Littleton, Colorado. They lost one son in the Air Force in World War II, Staff Sergeant, Edward L. Papierniak.
Mr. Papierniak carried mail until his retirement in December of 1963. They have 11 grandchildren.

Friends and neighbors and the children and grand children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Parge helped them celebrate their golden wedding anniversary at their home in the town of Holton, Saturday evening.
On April 29, 1900, the Misses Ida and Minnie Freimund, sisters, became brides in a double ceremony performed by the Rev. William George in the Lutheran church in the town of Holton. Miss Ida Freimund became the bride of Henry Parge and Minnie Freimund became the bride of Frank Allar.
Attendants were Mrs. Paul Benzman, of Milan, Adolph Kalepp, Emma Parge, now Mrs. Albert Ewert, and Ed Schaus.
For three years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Parge lived at Dorchester where he was a cheese maker. In 1903 they moved to the place where they now live, three and one-half miles northeast of here. He operated a cheese factory there for three years until the plant, which Mr. Parge did not rebuild, was destroyed by fire.
Mr. Parge retired from cheese making about 25 years ago and for the past five years has rented his farm land. The Parges, with their oldest son, Arthur, still live on the farm.
They have three children, Arthur, Otto, who lives on a farm near Milan, and Mrs. Paul (Alma) Bedrosky, on a farm near Dorchester, Wis. There are six grand children.
Mr. Parge, who was born Sept. 14, 1873, at Cedarburg, Wis., came with his parents when only a child and lived on a small farm near Dorchester, Wis. He has three sisters: Mrs. George (Alma) Baehr, Withee; Mrs. Anna Baehr, Abbotsford; and Mrs. Albert (Emma) Ewert, Fond du Lac; two brothers, August and Martin, in California; Charles in Vancouver, and Otto in British Columbia. Three brothers, Ed, Albert, and Herman, and one sister, Lizzie, are deceased.
Mrs. Parge was born Nov. 26, 1879, in the town of Holton. She has four sisters, Mrs. Frank (Minnie) Allar, Mrs. Emil (Alvina) Taxis, and Mrs. Ed (Emma) Schaus, in Chicago; and Mrs. Amanda Brusewitz, at Spencer, and one brother, Charles, in Brantwood. Two brothers, Herman and Otto, are deceased.

A Golden Wedding anniversary celebration was held on Sunday, Oct. 13th at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greenwood for Mr. and Mrs. William Park of route 1, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). The Rev. Arvid Myhrwold officiated at the surprise celebration which was held in the church parlors. Placed on the honored couple’s table was a beautifully decorated cake with white bells and yellow roses. The floral centerpiece was of yellow and white chrysanthemums. Mrs. Parks had a corsage of yellow chrysanthemums and her husband had a yellow chrysanthemum boutonniere. The anniversary couple received many congratulation cards, gifts and money.

Mr. and Mrs. Parks were married on Oct. 14, 1913, at Waukegan, Ill. Mrs. Parks, nee Edith May Clark, was born in Gurnee, Ill., on Nov. 27, 1895. Born to them was one daughter, Helen, now Mrs. Walter Dresdow of Owen. They have two grandchildren, Russell of Greenwood and Jeanne at home, and one great-grandchild, Debra Lynn Dresdow.
The William Park’s moved to Wisconsin in 1915 and settled north of Withee in Clark County, a few miles from where they now reside. For 49 years they have been engaged in farming, 16 of those years he also hauled milk. The years they lived in Taylor Co. Mr. Parks was active in county affairs. He served as chairman for the Town of Maplehurst, and later as treasurer. He served on the Taylor County Board for several years in the capacity of treasurer for the Redville School. After moving into Clark County Mr. Parks served for several years as director of the White School.
Mr. and Mrs. Parks are now retired, living north of Withee and enjoying some of their favorite past times.

The 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parkel, Sr., of Greenwood, was celebrated with a dinner in their honor Saturday evening. They were presented with gifts and many congratulatory messages.
Frank Joseph Parkel and Theresa Helen Gorene were married in Frontenac, Kans., January 18, 1904, at the holy Family Church. Attendants were the late Mrs. Ann Mouser Ursich and Louie Parkel.
Mr. Parkel, who was born October 4, 1878, in Yugoslavia, came to America December 19, 1902. His wife, who also was born in Yugoslavia, December 17, 1880, came to America October 16, 1903.
Mr. Parkel was a coal miner and then went into the liquor wholesale business in 1911. They came to Willard in 1917 and farmed there until they retired in 1947 and moved into Greenwood. Both are in good health.
The Parkels have six children: a son, Frank, of Willard; and five daughters, Mrs. August (Theresa) Podobnik and Mrs. Nick (Ann) Babich of Loyal, Mrs. Joe (Helen) Wene, Mrs. George (Mildred) Hiller and Mrs. Bud (Donna) Singer, all of Milwaukee. All their children were present for the occasion except Mrs. Singer. The Parkels also have 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parkel of Greenwood observed their 65th wedding anniversary at their home in Greenwood on Saturday, January 18. The occasion was a quiet celebration with a 1 p.m. dinner attended by their children and other family members.
Mr. and Mrs. Parkel were married January 18, 1904, at Frontenac, Kans. Mr. Parkel, who is 90 years old, was born October 4, 1878, in Yugoslavia and came to Frontenac in 1902. Mrs. Parkel, the former Theresa Gorenc, who is 88 years old, also was born in Yugoslavia, on December 7, 1880. She came to Frontenac in 1903.
They moved to Clark County in 1917, settling on a farm six and one-half miles southwest of Greenwood. They lived on the farm until 1949, when they retired and moved into their new home which they built in Greenwood.
Their children are: Mrs. August (Theresa) Podobnik of Greenwood, Mrs. Nick (Ann) Babich of Loyal, Frank Parkel of Willard, Mrs. Joe (Helen) Wene and Mrs. George (Mildred) Miller, both of West Allis, and Mrs. Rudolph (Donna) Slinger of Milwaukee. A daughter, Mrs. Tony (Mary) Zupanc, died in April, 1947. The honored couple has 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Parkel, Jr., celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary last Sunday by attending mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard with their children and grandchildren. After mass the family went out for dinner.
Frank Parkel, Jr., of Willard and Mary Dermovsek of Sheldon were married at Cornell on September 5, 1936. They lived on the home farm near Willard until 1964 and later moved to a farm three-fourths of a mile from Willard where they are farming on a smaller scale.
They have two children, Mrs. Jerry (Mary Ann) Baird of Stevens Point and Frank III of Madison, and five grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. L. A. Parker, Fremont, were guests of honor at a celebration held Saturday, Nov. 25 at the Fremont Town Hall in observance of their silver wedding anniversary which occurred on Friday.
A mock wedding was held and Mrs. Parker wore the same wedding dress in which she was married, an ankle length grown of white lace fashioned with a white satin girdle, with a bow and long streamers in the back. She wore a wreath and veil and carried a bouquet of chrysanthemums. Mr. Parker wore a black swallow-tail coat with light gray trousers and a black bow tie. In his lapel he wore a boutonniere to match Mrs. Parker’s flowers. Attending the couple during the mock wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rand. The bride was given in marriage by Gordon Davis. E. W. Lee read the marriage ceremony and Norman Parker, small son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Parker, was ring bearer. Mrs. Frank Pech, Sprague, and Alta Parker sang, "Blest Be The Tie That Binds." Music was furnished by Erwin Drews, violinist and Mrs. Erwin Drews, pianist both from Spencer. Following the mock wedding the evening was spent socially. Lunch was served at midnight. The couple was presented with a purse and other gifts. Many relatives and friends who could not attend the celebration sent gifts and cards. Married in Iowa Mr. and Mrs. Parker were married at Davenport, Iowa, on Nov. 25, 1914, in the Danish Lutheran Church by Rev. Mr. Hansen. The couple resided in Davenport until Mar. 1, 1915, when they moved to Sprague, Wis. They lived in Juneau until Apr. 1, 1937, when they purchased the farm where they now reside. Mrs. Parker is a leader of the Cozy Corner 4-H Club. The Parkers have two daughters, Lura, a stenographer at Black River Falls, and Alta, a teacher at the Cozy Corner School. One son, Norman, is at home. Among the out-of-town guests who attended the silver wedding anniversary celebration were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pech and Kenneth Porter, Sprague; Clifton Bewick and Son, Donald, Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Fricke and two friends from Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schlinsog and daughter Ursie, town of York. Approximately 100 friends from the town of Fremont also attended the celebration.

Mr. and Mrs. Millard Parker, Grand Rapids on Friday came ?? distinction of having been married for 50 years. Their golden wedding anniversary was celebrated last week when friends and relatives extended their congratulations and joined with the Parker’s in remembering the occasion. Millard Parker and Ida Beardsley Were married on July 3, 1886 in Neillsville, Wisconsin. They lived ????? ?n Wisconsin until 1914 when they moved to Deer River, Mr. Parker, who is a machinist and ??llwright, coming up here to in ?? the veneer plant machinery the ? Deer River Mill. In 1919 they came to Grand Rapids, Mr. Parker being employed in the local ??neer plant. In 1921 Mr. Parker began working at the local paper mill, retiring in 1927. He is now ??years old and for the past two years his health has not been good. Mrs. Parker is 69 years old and her health is remarkably good.

Widely-Known Couple Observe Anniversary at Home Here on Saturday -
The 60th anniversary of a marriage which took place at Greenwood March 23, 1888, and was followed by a honeymoon trip by horse and buggy from Greenwood to Granton, was celebrated Saturday by Mr. and Mrs. Ross Paulson of Neillsville. Seventy-five relatives and friends participated.
On March 22, 1888, Ross Paulson, then 27, hitched his driving team to his newly-painted buggy and drove to the farm home of Mr. and Mrs. Delos Raymond, a mile northwest of Christie, near the present Lee Mills farm.
The following morning, the groom-to-be lifted his bride-to-be, Maude Raymond, into the buggy and they proudly drove to Greenwood, where the Rev. Mr. Hull, a Methodist minister, performed the wedding in the Bridden Hotel.
After the wedding, the newly-weds returned to the Raymond farm for a wedding dinner and celebration. The following morning they drove to Granton to set up housekeeping, the groom being employed as manager of the Granton Creamery company, a position he held for 14 years.
Ross Paulson was born in Denmark October 10, 1870, and came, to America when he was two. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Paulson, located in Necedah. After two years they moved to Nasonville, in Wood County, and there Ross attended school and grew to manhood working with his father in logging camps for several seasons.
After leaving the Granton creamery, the Paulsons operated a farm near Granton, lived for few years in Eau Claire, returned to Clark county and lived for many years on the Paulson (or Youmans) farm, on Pleasant Ridge. For more than 25 years they have resided in Neillsville, spending the past 12 years at their present home on East Division Street. For 10 years Mr. Paulson was actively engaged in road contracting.
Two sons and three daughters were born to them: Clifford, in Grant; Mrs. E. H. Voigt (Lilas) of Madison; Raymond of Neillsville; Mrs. Eugene Hart (Ardeen) of Milwaukee; and Mrs. Norbert (Ruth) Berlick of Neillsville.
Attending the observance Saturday was the immediate family: Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Paulson and daughter, Joyce; Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Voigt; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Paulson and daughter, Susan; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hart and daughter, Mary; Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Berlick and son, David and Mr. and Mrs. Chap Paulson.
Out of town guests attending were: Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Ziegahn and Mr. and Mrs. Willard Johnson of Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Johnson and son Tod, of Milwaukee; Mrs. Dan Rausch, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Berg, Mrs. Herman Schoengarth, Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidtke, Mrs. Mabel Austin and Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Sternitzky of Granton.
A large number of neighbors and friends from Neillsville also attended during open house Saturday.
A birthday cake was prepared by Mrs. Cliff Paulson and Mrs. Chap Paulson, Peter and Howard Paulson, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Chap Paulson, remained at home Saturday as they were entertaining chickenpox. Judy Paulson, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Paulson, was in Milwaukee and unable to attend. A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Paulson, Mrs. Willard (Patricia) Rohde of Oregon, was unable to attend. She has two children, Christie and Ross.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Paulson have been enjoying good health and take pleasure in their eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Ross Paulson, long-time residents of the Greenwood - Neillsville - Granton area, observed their 66th wedding anniversary last Saturday at Memorial Home in Neillsville, where they now reside. All five of their children were present for the observance.
Mr. Paulson and the former Maude Raymond were married March 23, 1898, in Greenwood. They farmed in the Granton area for several years, later going to Eau Claire. On their return, they farmed on the Pleasant Ridge and for the last 30 years have made their home in Neillsville.
Mr. Paulson was born in Denmark and came to the United States with his parents at the age of two. The family first located in Necedah, later moving to the Nasonville area, where Mr. Paulson attended school. He worked with his father in logging camps.
While residing in the Granton community he served as manager of the Granton Creamery for 14 years.
Mrs. Paulson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Delos Raymond, who lived on the farm now owned by Lee Mills, near Christie.
Open house was held from 2 to 4 p.m. in Memorial Home. Helping them observe the day were Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Voigt of Madison, a daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Berlick, a daughter; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Paulson and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Paulson, both sons, of Neillsville; and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Hart of St. Francis, a daughter.
Others were Mrs. Emma Rausch of Granton, a sister of Mr. Paulson; Mrs. Willard Johnson of Marshfield and Mrs. Frederick Wendt of Neillsville, nieces. Many friends and the Paulsons’ new neighbors in Memorial Home also attended. A light lunch was served.

West Fremont--Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peckney were surprised by a group of friends and neighbors at their home Wednesday evening, the occasion being the celebration of their 25th anniversary. Cards and games were played and lunch was served. Blue and white crepe paper and bouquets of peonies decorated the residence.
Mr. and Mrs. Peckney were presented with a purse of silver from the group.
Both their daughters, Miss Jeanette Peckney, who lives at home, and Mrs. Forest Davis, Hobart, Indiana, who is visiting with her parents and arranged for the party were present, Mrs. Davis' sons, Lyle and Gary, were with their mother.

Carl and Ruth Pedersen, Owen, were joined by a large group of friends and relatives at the celebration in honor of their 25th wedding anniversary, held at the Nazareth Lutheran Hall on Sunday afternoon, June 4, 1978.
Loraine King and Beverly McComb, both of Owen, prepared the delicious Swiss steak banquet dinner in honor of the occasion, and were helped by waitresses, Kathy Cardinal and Sandra Maninen, both of Withee, and Randy King and Andrew Fannila on the dishes and other hand work, both from Owen.
Carl Pedersen was born in Denmark and came to this country as a boy of 16. His folks set up farming and moved into the area in the early years of this century. Later Carl stated farming on his own, owning a farm north of Owen, near the present watershed project. Part of his land, which he sold to the county, is part of the project.
Ruth is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Picus, who many will remember had a well-known general store in Owen, located in what is now Pogo’s. Ruth has a daughter, Mrs. Art (Naomi) Brissette of Bethel, Connecticut.

Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Peleschak of Lublin were feted to a Golden celebration in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, July 14th, 1956. The couple was married at Monessen, Pa., on July 19th, 1906. They are the parents of 12 children, 3 of whom are deceased, and the following: Matt, Mrs. Stanley (Helen) Gasiorowski, Mrs. Leon (Ann) Wojniak and Mrs. Edward (Mary) Zielinski of Chicago, Mrs. John (Ella) Skapyak of Clear Lake, Wis., Mike of Hammond, Ind., Mrs. Edward (Irene) Jasinski of Lublin, Nick and Mrs. Marvin (Katherine) Piwoni of Gilman.
The celebration began with Mass at 10:00 a.m. at the Russian Orthodox Church at Lublin, with a noon lunch for the immediate family and a 6:00 p.m. dinner for relatives and friends, which was served at Marion’s Hall, followed by a dance in the evening. Music was furnished by the Jolly Polkateers, including Matt Peleschak.
The Hall was beautifully decorated to suit the occasion, and cut flowers and a three tier wedding cake adorned the tables.
The bride of 50 years was attired in a gold nylon lace over satin dress, made by her daughter, Mrs. Marvin Piwoni. She wore a gold corsage and white accessories.
The groom wore a gold boutonniere, as did the sons and sons-in-law. The daughters, daughters-in-law, wore gold corsages also.
Out of town guests who attended included the following: Mr. and Mrs. Matt Peleschak and family, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Gasiorowski and Sally Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Wozniak and children, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gasiorowski, Mr. Kermit Moses, Mr. and Mrs. Marko Pedley and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Terlecki and family, all of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Peleschak and sons of Hammond, Ind., Mr. and Mrs. John Skapyak and family of Cedar Lake, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fall and family, Rev. and Mrs. Patryuk, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lu Conic and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Lu Conic of Clayton, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Piwoni and John of Athens, and many other friends and relatives from Medford, Thorp, Gilman and Huron.
Eight of their nine children were able to attend, and 18 of their 19 grandchildren were present.
Plans and preparations were made by the couple’s children with Mrs. Edward Jasinski in charge.

On September 20, 1916 Miss Ella Crostwaite and Joseph Pernsteiner were married at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish at Medford by The Right Reverand Monsignor Gregory J. Rueter. Mr. and Mrs. Pernsteiner lived at Medford until they moved to their present home just west of Loyal four years ago.
In order to have the children all present to help observe their 40th wedding anniversary, they chose Sunday for the day of celebration.
Children and families present were Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Pernsteiner and family and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Pernsteiner and family, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pernsteiner, Jr., and family, Granton; and from Loyal, Mr. and Mrs. Ray McNeely and family, Mr. and Mrs. Chet Pernsteiner and family, and James Pernsteiner, who is at home.
Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lewer, Mr. and Mrs. Ed McNeely, and Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Rudy and daughter, Susie, from Medford. Over 50 guests came, bringing gifts and good wishes, enjoyed the dinner and supper and helped Mr. and Mrs. Joe Pernsteiner, Sr., have a happy wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Perry were honored on the 50th anniversary of their marriage at an open house at the Grange hall, at West Plainfield on Sunday, Jan. 2, with many relatives and friends attending.
Bouquets of yellow mums and chrysanthemums decorated the hall and the tables were decorated with gold doilies and white and gold candles. The reception table was centered with a four tier gold cake decorated with white roses and gold trim, and topped with the same miniature bride and groom ornament that was used on their first wedding cake.
Mr. and Mrs. Perry were united in marriage on Jan. 1, 1905, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bound, in Plainfield by the Rev. R. D. Sparks. Their attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Urban, who were present for the celebration. Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Urban are sisters. She was the former Charlotte Bound. Mr. Perry is the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Witt Perry.
Mr. and Mrs. Perry are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. S. C. (Ruth) McClellan, Milwaukee; and Mrs. Roger (Evelyn) Fiebig, La Crosse. They have four grand children.
Mr. and Mrs. Perry made their home at Abbotsford for 38 years and at Owen for nine years. He was fireman for four years on the Soo Line Railroad and engineer for 44 years. The couple moved to Hancock in 1947 where they have made their home since.
Mr. Perry is a member of the Masonic lodge and a life member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Mrs. Perry is a member of the Eastern Star lodge.

Their 40th Wedding anniversary was celebrated on July 25, by Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Peters. Their son and daughter-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Robert D. Peters, and children, Mary Kay and Billy Peters, joined them at a special anniversary dinner.
Donald Peters was born in Waterloo where he received his elementary education and was graduated from high school. He was graduated from the University of Wisconsin in June, 1922, and on July 25, 1922, was married to Gertrude Muscheid in Rockford, Ill. Mrs. Peters was born and raised in Resseville.
In September, 1922, Mr. Peters accepted his first teaching assignment in LaFarge, where he and his bride went to housekeeping. In 1925, they moved to West Salem, where Mr. Peters served as principal of the high school for four years.
Mr. and Mrs. Peters and son, Robert, moved to Neillsville in the summer of 1929. Mr. Peters assumed the duties of principal here in September that year and was later elevated to the position of superintendent of schools. He retired from his position of Neillsville superintendent last year. He and his wife are continuing to make their home at 201 Clay Street. They made an auto trip to the southeast area of the United States this summer and plan occasional shorter trips.

On Wednesday morning at 11:00 o’clock about one hundred fifty friends and relatives gathered at the assembly hall at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) to help Mr. and Mrs. P.K. Petersen celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary. The hall was beautiful decorated and the Danish congregation present the happy couple with a gold basket of yellow roses. Rev. Mikkelsen officiated at the ceremonies.
Stene Hansen and P.K. Petersen were united in marriage in Denmark on December 30, 1881 and left for America February 26. They came to Hutchinson, Minn., on March 23, 1882. In order to reach the home of friends, they had to walk twelve miles in a snow storm.
Mr. Petersen was employed as a brick maker at Hutchinson for eleven years when he decided to come to Withee with several other Danish families who formed a colony at Withee. They have lived in this vicinity ever since.
Four children were born to this union: Ben, Anna, Sina and Clara, all of Withee, who with the four grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Petersen, helped them celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary Wednesday.
Besides the celebration in the assembly hall, many guests and relatives gathered at the Petersen home in the evening and were pleasantly entertained.
The out of town guests who came to help Mr. and Mrs. Petersen celebrate their happy event were Nels Nelsen of Wendling, Ore., a nephew of Mrs. Petersen, and N.P. Nelsen of Askov, Minn.

Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Peterson observed their golden wedding anniversary Wednesday, May 14 and spent the week end with their daughters at Chippewa Falls and Jim Falls.
Adolph Peterson and Miss Carrie Hickok, both of Curtiss, were married at Stanley May 14, 1902. Both of them were born in Curtiss, Mr. Peterson on March 10, 1877, and Mrs. Peterson, June 12, 1884. After their marriage, they came to Abbotsford and lived here all their married life with the exception of about two years, which were spent at Curtiss and Barronect, near Cumberland.
Mr. Peterson was a contractor and carpenter and among the houses he built in Abbotsford, was his own located on Highway 29, west. For about five years, Mr. Peterson worked at Berger’s Northland Henneries and for about the past four years, has been occupied at his own place where he has quite a large garden.
The Petersons have ten children: George, Mayville, Kentucky; Mrs. George (Viola) Davidson, San Jose, Calif.; Mrs. E. V. (Dorothy) Daggett, Chippewa Falls; Leonard, Withee; Kenneth, at home; Harold, Delavan; Mrs. Ray (Evelyn) Engel, Chippewa Falls; George, Marshfield; Mrs. Verland (Ruth) Schorer, Jim Falls; and Gerald, Chicago.
They also have ten grand sons and four grand daughters.

Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Peterson celebrated their silver wedding anniversary at their farm home on Tuesday evening, June 19th. Following a short program, a buffet luncheon was served from a beautifully decorated table to over eighty relatives and neighbors. They were presented with many gifts and silver.

On August 8, 1970 a family gathering was held at the N.A. Peterson home in observance of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Guests from out of state were Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson and son Jerry, who arrived from Three Rivers, Mich. on Aug. 7 and returned to their home on Aug. 10, and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Peterson from Sugar Grove, Ill., who arrived on Aug. 7, also, and left on Sunday, Aug. 9.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Nigl Jr., Los Gatos, Calif., also attended, and they arrived August 6, and on Monday, Aug. 17, Mr. and Mrs. N.A. Peterson took them to Mosinee to take the plane back to their home. Also from out of state was Dale Peterson, Surgar Grove, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. P.O. Peterson Golden wedding
Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Peterson, of this city, formerly of Irving, are popular people. Fifty years ago they were married at the Little Norway church at 10 a.m. Afterward the guest gathered at the Peterson farm home where 250 were present for dinner. Dancing was enjoyed all afternoon and evening on a pavilion built for the occasion. Some 400 guest were served supper during the evening. That was an undertaking out of the usual, the biggest wedding in the country. Congratulations for the crowd were extended by the late Senator J. J. McGillivray.
Sunday, October 27, 1946, at the same farm home, Mr. and Mrs. Peterson were guest of honor at their golden wedding celebration. Mrs. Peterson was as pretty as ever, dressed in a black dress with a touch of shell pink and wearing a beautiful gold chrysanthemum corsage tied with gold ribbon. Mr. Peterson, with a gold flower boutonniere on his dark suit was even a little taller than usual. They both enjoyed the congratulations of their many friends and the letters and telegrams they received. Nearly 200 registered at the event.
Married by Rev. N. A. Giere, their attendants were Andrew Gilbertson and Carrie Peterson. Anton L Gilbertson and Gina Gilbertson, Henry Peterson and Julia Benson. Of those attendants only Andrew Gilbertson and Henry Peterson survive. Both were present Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson have four sons, two daughters and 22 grandchildren, all with them Sunday. Merlin J Peterson, Raymond, Norman, Price and Esther, Mrs. Archie Emerson, and Harriet, Mrs. George Mason.
The house was decorated with cut flowers Sunday and delicious refreshments were served to all. There were two beautiful three-tier wedding cakes, one made by Carl Stein and the other by the McDonald Bakery, of this city.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson lived on the home farm until 1942 when they moved to this city and their son, Raymond and family now live on the farm where the gathering was held. They are highly respected citizens and have many friends who wish them continued residence among us and health with which to enjoy it.
*** Note from a grandson: On Peter & Caroline"s wedding day - October 28, 1896, Big Pete weighed 216 lbs. and Caroline weighed 108 lbs. Grandma Caroline always mentioned that whenever she looked at their wedding picture.

The sixtieth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Peter O. Peterson was celebrated with a family gathering at their home in Town of Irvin Sunday, October 28, 1956.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson are widely known and for many years the name of "Big Pete Peterson" has had special meaning in our community. A fine book could be written on this popular couple who have now completed sixty years of wedded life together.
Sixty years ago they were married at the Little Norway church not far from their present home. After the ceremony, guests gathered at the Peterson farm where 250 persons were present for dinner. Dancing was enjoyed all afternoon and evening on a pavilion built especially for the occasion. Some 400 guests were served supper during the evening. That was a tremendous undertaking and it proved to be the biggest wedding in the county at that time. Congratulations for the crowd were extended, early records tell, by the late Senator J. J. McGillivray.
Fifty years later at the same home Mr. and Mrs. Peterson were guests of honor at their golden wedding celebration. Over 200 guests registered for that occasion.
The Petersons were married by Rev. N. A. Giere and their attendants were Andrew Gilbertson and Carrie Peterson, Anton L Gilbertson and Gina Gilbertson, Henry Peterson and Julia Benson. Of the original wedding party only Henry Peterson and Andrew Gilbertson were alive to be with them ten years ago for the Golden Anniversary and it is especially interesting to know that they were also present Sunday for the 60th anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson have four sons and two daughters, all of whom were with them Sunday. They are Merlin, Raymond, Norman, Price, and Esther (Mrs. Archie Emerson) and Harriet (Mrs. George Mason.)
Mr. and Mrs. Peterson lived on the home farm until 1942 when they moved into Black River Falls but they are back living on the farm again now. Although Mr. Peterson has not been in the best of health recently but he was able to be up and enjoyed the gathering with his family Sunday. Mrs. Peterson is very active. Both are 82 years of age.
A wide circle of friends and acquaintances join with the family in extending congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Peterson and in hoping that they will continue to celebrate still more happy anniversaries. Sixty years of being happily married is a most wonderful accomplishment.

They were married September 3, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). The 45th wedding anniversary was observed last Saturday by Mr. and Mrs. Tony Petkovsek of Willard. Tony Petkovsek and Dorothy Anderson were married October 26, 1929, at Chicago, Il.
After their marriage they resided in Chicago, Il., for about ten months, later moving on a farm near Willard in 1930, where they farmed until 1964 and later they moved to the Town of Seif where they purchased Tony’s tavern 10 years ago and are still residing there. Their children gave them the party which started last Saturday afternoon, Sunday and they all came back on Monday to say farewell before leaving for their homes. Some of the presents given by their children was a mother’s ring for her and a watch for him.
They have three daughters: Mrs. Joseph (Mary Ann) Wayer, Mrs. Marvin (Patricia) Whitney, Mrs. Bill (Dolores) Lee, all of Waukegan, Il., and six sons: Arthur, Greenwood; Tony, Jr., Los Angeles, Ca., James, Greenwood, Edward, Marshfield, William, Waukegan, Robert of Neillsville. Also 15 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Pfalzgraf celebrated their silver wedding anniversary Sunday. About 100 persons were guests at dinner served at the Christ Lutheran Church dining room at noon and at a reception at the village hall.
Mr. Pfalzgraf, son of Theodore and the late Mrs. Pfalzgraf of Oakfield, and Bernie Ewert, daughter of the late A. G. Ewert and Mrs. Ewert of Fond du Lace, were married at Fond du Lac and lived there until Nov. 1955, when they purchased the Medo-Farms Dairy and came to Abbotsford to operate the milk routes and dairy bar.
The Pfalzgrafs have four children: James, an electronics technician in the navy, stationed at Pearl Harbor, Honolulu, Hawaiian Islands; Margene, Fox Point; and John and Kenneth at home.
Their son was unable to be here from Pearl Harbor.
Among the guests at the celebration were Mrs. Frank Nibbs of Fond du Lac and Arthur Schroeder of Kiel, attendants at the ceremony 25 years ago. Other guests were from Ripon, Milwaukee, Fond du Lac, Oakfield, Lomira, Withee, Thorp, Eau Claire, Marshfield and Abbotsford.

Pastor and Mrs. John Pfohl celebrated their silver wedding anniversary, Saturday, Oct. 15, 1955. For the occasion Pastor Pfohl’s father, John Pfohl, Sr., who is 82 years old, his brother, Louis, and two sisters, Mrs. James Hasely and Mrs. Mervin Hasely and son Paul, came from Sanborn, N.Y., Their three children, Ruth of Gladbrook, Iowa, Ronald of Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa, and Harold, at home, were all here for the occasion.
On Sunday, Pastor Edgar Milleville, Nasonville, conducted an anniversary service for Pastor and Mrs. Pfohl. Immediately following the regular morning worship service, a dinner was served in the church parlors by the Trinity Aid at noon for the honored couple and their guests. Pastor and Mrs. Pfohl were presented with a boutonniere and corsage, respectively.
Open house was held at Trinity Lutheran Church from 2 to 4 in the afternoon. Each organization of the church presented Pastor and Mrs. Pfohl with a purse, as did members individually. The entire celebration Sunday was a surprise for the Pfohl’s.

All the children of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Phaneuf of Abbotsford, relatives, neighbors and friends from the area joined them Sunday for their 48th wedding anniversary. The couple was honored with an open house in the afternoon.
The former Lila Parge and Gordon Phaneuf were married at Abbotsford July 2, 1920.
Mr. Phaneuf was employed an engine watchman for the Soo Line. They lived in Abbotsford and for a time in Milwaukee, but due to ill helath, Mr. Phaneuf had to retire in 1956.
Their children and grandchildren who were here Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Hayward (Avis) Daane, and Jean of Sheboygan Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Warren Phaneuf, Brant, Michelle, Quinn, Marshall and Cheryl of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Marlyn Phaneuf, Greg, Mike, Cathy, Susan and Mary Beth, Waukesha, Mr. and Mrs. Lester (Phillis) Reiter, Dean, Kerry, Connie, Brian and Terry of Stetsonville, and Lynn (Larry) Phaneuf from Abbotsford.
Three grandsons were unable to be present, Mark Daane of Sheboygan Falls, Jan Daane, who is in the naval reserves at Leeville, Tex., and Scott Daane, who is in the Coast Guard in Turkey.

Last Wednesday night, Mr. and Mrs. George N. Phillips celebrated their golden wedding at their home on Grand Ave. This worthy couple have been married fifty years, and the occasion was celebrated both afternoon and evening. At noon a large number of their friends gathered at their home and partook of a bountiful dinner, and again in the evening another party, prominent in which were Odd Fellows and Rebeccahs, assembled and continued the celebration until far into the evening. The entire days was one of happiness and unbounded pleasure, and Mr. and Mrs. Phillips have the sincere wish of all their many friends that they will live to enjoy many more happy years of married life.
This golden wedding was the third that has occurred in Mrs. Phillips’ family, her sister, Mrs. S. E. Hutchins, having celebrated her fiftieth anniversary of her marriage to S. E. Hutchins last summer.
Mr. and Mrs. Phillips were present with many beautiful and appropriate gifts, and throughout the celebration abounded a spirit of well wishing and enjoyment.
Mr. Phillips was born in Onondaga County, N.Y., March 8th, 1839. When he was ten years of age he came to Wisconsin with his parents, settled near Waukesha. On Jan. 26, 1860, he was married to Miss Mary S. McKeand, who was born at Rockford, Ill., Dec. 22, 1840. In 1862 Mr. Phillips enlisted in the Civil War, served three years, and at the close of his service went back to farming. In 1872 Mr. and Mrs. Phillips came to Clark County, where they have resided ever since. Mr. Phillips engaging in his trade, that of a carpenter. Both Mr. and Mrs. Phillips are in excellent health, and having lived a life of charity, temperance and industry, they bid fair to continue their married contentment for many years to come.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. N. Phillips on Grand Av., Neillsville, Clark County, was the scene of a large and happy gathering Wednesday afternoon and evening, Jan. 26, 1910, when they celebrated in most fitting manner the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding. The arrangements were such that about as many as could be conveniently seated in the dining room and otherwise comfortably entertained, assembled at noon, and again in the evening another large group of friends, among whom were many Odd Fellows and Rebekahs, met to round out the day of happy greetings and pleasant memories. The entire arrangements were most pleasantly carried out, notwithstanding the storm of snow that fell without. Within the comfortable home, all was warmth and welcome, joy and the glow of friendship. Many appropriate and tasty presents were brought, and the noon and evening banquets were "fit for a king". A singular fact in connection with the event is that it is the third golden wedding that has occurred in Mrs. Phillips’ family. Her parents passed the half century mark together, celebrating the event, and only last summer her sister, Mrs. S.E. Hutchings and husband, celebrated theirs. This speaks well for the family history in long life and domestic felicity. Mr. Phillips was born in Onondago Co., N.Y. Last Saturday, Nov. 28th, was the golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Phillips, and the event was quietly, yet happily, celebrated by a family gathering at their home. The only out of town relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Crome of Viroqua. A wedding dinner, prepared by the two daughters, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Hein, of the aged bride and groom, eclipsed the original wedding dinner of fifty years ago, and the afternoon was passed in recalling the pleasures of the years that have flown. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, bride and groom of the closing days of November, 1875, are enjoying the sunset years of life in our midst. The community joins in congratulations upon this anniversary occasion, and hopes "that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee."

On Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1915 Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Philpott at Bremerton, Wash., were married fifty years. Mr. and Mrs. Philpott were former residents of our village (Loyal, Clark County, Wis.) for many years, coming her in 1867. Nine years ago they left for the coast, living in Prentice four or five years previous to going. J. Milton Philpott of our village is their oldest son. As but one of their children are living near the coast they will not observe the day with celebration. Their many friends from here, together with the Tribune, extend congratulations and wish them many more years of joy and happiness.

Mr. and Mrs. Gust Piekola who were married in Nyborg, Sweden fifty years ago, celebrated their golden wedding with having an open house at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Frank Schwanke on route 1, Loyal, last Sunday, October 10th. Among the 200 guests that visited the golden jubilee were Mrs. Piekola’s brother and sister-in-law from Seattle, Washington, friends from Herbster, Iron River, and other places in the state and also neighboring states.
Telegrams and cards were received from Ely, Minnesota where the couple had made their home for a number of years since their arrival there in 1904. They moved to the Town of Beaver in 1914 and have made their living on a farm which they wrestled out of practically wilderness. Their son, Theodore operates the farm now and their other daughter, Jenie Brecker, resided in Owen.
A beautiful refrigerator was presented to the couple as a token of friendship from the guests and friends who had been notified of the event.
The Tribune joins the many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Piekola in extending congratulations.

The Golden Wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Gust Piekola who have lived in this vicinity since 19??, was celebrated, Sunday, Oct. 10, 1948, at the home of their daughter, Mrs. Frank Schwanke, route 1, Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), where open house was held.
Among the many visitors who called to extend greetings were friends from Herbster, Iron River and other Wisconsin communities. Mrs. Piekola’s brother and two sisters-in-law from Seattle, Wash., also attended the anniversary festivities.
Cards and telegrams were received from Canada and Ely, Minn. Where the family lived before coming to Clark Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Piekola were married in Nyborg, Sweden and arrived in Minnesota in 1904. Their children, besides Mrs. Schwanke (Clara), are Theodore, who operates the town of Beaver farm which was virtually wilderness when the Piekola family settled there and another daughter, Mrs. Jennie Brecker, of Owen. They have one grandson, Owen Brecker, who is in the Navy and is station at Boston, Mass., and was unable to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Pieper celebrated their Silver Anniversary Saturday with a supper in the dining room of Trinity Lutheran Church.
An imitation cake decorated with artificial roses of silver, pink, and white, and 25 artificial daisies with silver dollars in each centered the table.
The wedding cake was served on a large mirror and was white with blue and silver decorations. Other table decorations were silver leaves. Napkins with the names of the honored couple and the dates 1928-1953 were used.
Mrs. Pieper wore a purple dress and corsage of yellow roses. The piepers have lived in this vicinity all of their lives. Their children are Mrs. Art (Beverly) Olson, Delmar Pieper, and the Misses Marlene, Joyce, and Karen, and Mrs. James(Dolores) Helms. All were present for the celebration except Mrs. Helms who lives in Milwaukee.
Marlene and Joyce Pieper sang "Jesus Lead the Way" and "I Love You Truly." Talks were given by the Rev. E. Aalto, Art Olson and Algarnon Breseman.

GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pieper celebrated the golden anniversary of their wedding Sunday March 16th at the home of their daughter, Mrs. P. Roloff. A half a century has passed since they were married in the Lutheran church in Town of Lebanon, Dodge Co. on March 16, 1869. Many things have happened during the long married life of the aged couple. Their friends joined them in rendering praise to Him from whom all blessings flow. Rev. E. Kemena spoke on the text 1 Sam. 7.12 and performed the ceremony. A social time followed enjoyed by all and a splendid supper was served. Of the seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Pieper, all are living and all but two sons, who reside in Dodge Co. were present. Two sons and three daughters live in the town of Beaver and Unity.
Although old and gray, four brothers of Mr. Pieper came from a distance to help him celebrate. Fred Pieper of Hustisford, Ferdinand Pieper of Horicon, Wm. Pieper and wife of Burnett and Herman Pieper and wife with their son-in-law and daughter and Mrs. Emil Radloff of Iron Ridge. It was a pleasure to notice how happy the brothers were to be together again and hear them tell of their experiences in life. The golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Pieper will long be remembered by all present. May it be their privilege to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Pierce, Neillsville, celebrated their 60th anniversary on Sunday, November 11, at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stanley, Rt. 4 Neillsville.
The original attendants, Peter Kaboski and Agatha Lubinski, are both deceased.
Earl was born in Osseo and went to school at Humbird. Margarete was born in Jackson County and went to Sunny Side School. They were married on November 10, 1919, in Black River Falls by a retired minister who was a friend of the family.
For their special occasion of 60 years, Mrs. pierce wore a corsage of carnations and mums in fall colors. Earl wore a carnation boutonniere. A three-tiered anniversary cake was made by their daughter Lorraine Stanley. Special entertainment for the open house was given by their granddaughter, Shirley Stanley, who played the organ and accordion.
The Pierces have resided at 28 Clay St. for many years. Earl is retired and likes reading, TV and visiting with friends. Margarete likes gardening, cooking, canning, dancing and goes deer hunting every year.
Four children were born to the couple. They are Howard Pierce, Cataract; Theodore Pierce, Neillsville; Mrs. Lorraine Stanley, Neillsville; and Mrs. Frances Smith, Sparta. They have eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Out-of-town guests were nieces, nephews and grandchildren from Minneapolis, St. Paul; Princeton, Minn.; Madison; Oshkosh; Sparta; Richland Center; Black River Falls; Willard; Mead Lake; Granton; Eau Claire; Cashton and Prescott. And many friends from the surrounding area also were present for the open house.

Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Pietenpol greeted some 58 of their friends and neighbors last Saturday evening with no little surprise. It was there 25th wedding anniversary and ten days before that their daughters, Vera and Harriet, had sent out invitations for the surprise. Ye Editor’s wife being in the secret had Mrs. Pietenpol and little daughter Beatrice with Mrs. Frank Converse spending the day at our home. Hank joined them there for tea and driving home early in the evening was just in time to greet the arriving guests. The Misses Vera and Harriet assisted by the Misses Vivian Brooks and Frances Smith had in Mrs. Pietenpol’s absence prepared the refreshments of the evening. Mrs. Bartz a close neighbor making only the wedding cake, proper, a magnificent work of art which will long hold an honored place, the bride’s china closet. It being the unanimous voice of those present, that it would be a sacrilege to cut or mutilate this handsome gift. This household is noted for its generous hospitality throughout the whole country side and any social event there is an enjoyable one. The bride and groom were made the recipients of many beautiful pieces which will through the balance of their lives be pleasant reminders of this happy event.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Pietenpol celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on Tuesday, November 17 by entertaining old friends and relatives at a 12 o’clock dinner at their home about two miles north of the village of Granton. About 70 guests, two of them guests at the original wedding enjoyed themselves by talking over old times.
In the evening the W. W. Club members and their families gathered at the Pietenpol home to extend their good wishes. The kitchen band played several selections. Mrs. O. C. Smith gave a reading and a mock wedding took place with Fred Tyler acting as clergyman and Mr. and Mrs. Pietenpol were attended by Mr. and Mrs. Art Berg who were celebrating their 20th Anniversary. Mrs. Berg is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pietenpol.
Misses Aletha and Elaine Pietenpol granddaughters sang several selections.

Gilbert married Dorothy Papierniak on November 4, 1951, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp, WI. They had three children, Paul and his wife Jane of Greenwood, WI; Guy and his wife Robin, of Mosinee, WI; and Janis and her husband Wayde, of Berlin, WI.
They are blessed with an additional seven grandchildren: Melissa and Theresa (Paul); Angela, Jacob, and Samantha (Guy); Alan and Marie (Janis); and 10 great-grandchildren: Hannah, Alex, Ben and Sydney (Melissa); Sadie, Miranda and Syler (Angela); Kyla, Emma and Sara (Theresa).
Gilbert worked as a Senior Product Designer for Harnischfeger in Milwaukee and Dorothy worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s in Milwaukee, and then Elmbrook Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, WI. They are enjoying their retirement, traveling, and most of all, their family.

A 65th wedding anniversary celebration in honor of Marvin and Katherine Piwoni of Gilman was hosted by their children on Saturday, May 28, at Tom and Jerry’s Ballroom, Gilman. Social hour began at 12:00 noon, with dinner for 125 guests at 1:30 and an anniversary dance open to the public from 3;00 to 7:00 p.m. with music furnished by the Cynor Classics.
Marvin Piwoni and Katherine Peleschak were married on Sunday, June 9, 1946, at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, Lublin, WI. Their five children and six of their eight grandchildren were present for the occasion: sons, Dr. Marvin and fiancé Kelley of Champagne, IL, James of Milwaukee and daughter, Dr. Elizabeth and husband Tyson of St. Paul, MN, Dr. Richard of Antigo and daughter Marilyn, Tom Day and sons Jim, Richard, Brian, and their friends Abbey, Megan and Alli, of Eau Claire, WI, Dr. Karilyn and Brian Lippa and daughters, Alexandra and Seraphina of Rochester, N. Y.
The only member of the original wedding party in attendance was the ring bearer, William Skapyak of Springfield, MO. Sorry to say, all six adult attendants are deceased and the flower girl was not available.

A marriage blessing was given by father Thaddeus Wojcik at Holy Assumption on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Katherine and Marvin’s anniversary date is June 9, and on June 10, 2011, they became first time great-grandparents to William James Ester, son of Dr. Elizabeth and Tyson. Two blessed events.

Mrs. Plank, nee Pearl Callow, daughter of James and Ann Callow, was born in Linden, Wis., October 7, 1880. Sylvester Plank, son of Adam and Olivia Plank, was born in Mineral Point, Wis., February 24, 1880.
Mr. and Mrs. Plank were married in Mineral Point March 19, 1902. They lived in the southern part of Wisconsin until May, 1921, when they came to their farm two miles east of Greenwood, where they have resided ever since.
They have six children, all of whom were present for the family celebration. They are: Mrs. Helen Francis of Neillsville; Miss Alice Plank at home; James Plank of Greenwood; Mrs. Charles (Dorothy) Neuenfeldt of Spencer; Mrs. Mildred Carney and Mrs. Jack (Margaret) Richards, both of Chicago. Spencer Couple Observe 40th Wedding Anniversary
Spencer--Mr. and Mrs. William Plath, both members of families who were among the first settlers in the Spencer community, were honored guests at a celebration held Saturday at the home of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Seigert Krasselt, the occasion marking their 40th wedding anniversary, which occurred Friday.
Dinner was served at noon to the immediate family. All their children were present. They included three daughters, Mrs. Helen Fisher, Mrs. Eva Krasselt, and Mrs. Arlene Youmans, two sons, Sherwood Plath and William Plath, Jr., and eight grandchildren. Cakes decorated with roses and lettering, adorned each end of the table.
In the evening relatives and friends gathered at the same home where an informal evening was spent. Refreshments were served later in the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Plath were presented with gifts, cards, and a purse of money.

The 45th wedding anniversary was observed last Sunday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Plautz and family at Greenwood of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Plautz of Willard.
Alice Robey and Stephen Plautz were married on June 11,1930, in St. Paul, Mn.
It was sort of a get-together of relatives, with barbecued chicken and all the trimmings. A decorated cake centered the table.

A 50th wedding anniversary was celebrated in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Plautz with a mass at Holy Family Catholic Church in Willard on Sunday, June 8. The Rev. James Lesczynski officiated.
Alice and Steve will celebrate 50 years of marriage on June 11. An open House for all their guests was held at the parish center and shelter after the mass. A dinner was served by the parish ladies.

Mr. and Carl Ploeckelman celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary October 4, 1975.
The couple was married October 4, 1908 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Dorchester.
Mr. Ploeckelman, 93, was born October 10, 1882, and Mrs. Plockelman, 95, was born April 1, 1990.
Both were raised in a family of 10 children.
They have four children, Marvin, Irene, Katherine and Margaret; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchildren.
They lived on a farm near Dorchester most of their lives.
The couple has resided at the Colonial House of Colby for the past five years.

Mr. and Mrs. William Poler, who were married in the Methodist parsonage at Neillsville June 12, 1909, quietly observed their 51st wedding anniversary at their home in Pine Valley Sunday. After their marriage in 1909, the Polers lived for a time near Colby, later moving to Plaza, N. D., where they spent several years. After returning to Clark County, they lived in Washburn, Christie, Willard and Chili and are now living south of the fairgrounds in Pine Valley in a new home which they completed a year ago.

Mr. and Mrs. William Poler celebrated their golden wedding anniversary June 12 at their home in Pine Valley. Open House was from 1 to 5 p.m., a dinner was served to 90 relatives and friends at the American Legion Hall, and 150 took part in the dance which followed. A picnic was held Saturday at the Poler home.
Approximately 200 people attended the weekend celebrations.
Miss JoAnn Baker sang "I Love You Truly" at the dinner Friday evening.
William Ernest Poler, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Poler, and Madilene Shilts, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Shilts, were married in the Methodist parsonage in Neillsville, June 12, 1909. The groom, who was born at Omro, came to Clark County when he was 17 years of age and located with his parents in the Town of Washburn. The bride came to Clark County when she was seven and also located in Washburn.
After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Poler purchased a farm at Riverside, near Colby, and in 1910 moved west to North Dakota. In 1912 they registered for a claim on the Berthold Indian Reservation, near Plaza, N. D., and moved onto the new location in an immigrant car. While eating their first meal in a restaurant near the claim, they met a bachelor, who had a claim near the 160 acres on which the Polers planned to move. The man said he was not going to be home, but he handed the Polers the key to the one-room shack and told them they are welcome to occupy it.
"That" said Mr. Poler, "Was early Western hospitality."
In 1915, a tornado razed every building in the village of Wheaton, four miles from their claim. Many people were injured and a great deal of damage was done. A prairie fire threatened their home, but they saved their house and barn.
Since returning to Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Poler operated farms in Washburn, Christie, Willard and Chili. A year ago they purchased two acres of land adjoining the fairgrounds on the south, and erected a new ranch-type one-story home.
The children, all of whom were present at the celebration with their families include: Mrs. Albert (Helen) Kapfer of West Bend, Mrs. Leon (Lois) Mathews of Manistee, Mich., Mrs. Ernest (Ardis) Backhus of Washburn, Mrs. Oliver (Hazel) Williams of Cannonville, Mrs. Ethel Henne of Lake Geneva, Charles Poler of DePere, and Robert of Pine Valley. Of the 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, only two were not present. Darwin Wallace, who attended the couple at the wedding 50 years ago, was an honored guest.

Mr. and Mrs. John Pollack, rural Colby, were surprised Saturday evening when relatives came to help them celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary.

A Thorp couple, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas A. Polnaszek celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, June 29, 1969. They were married June 24, 1919 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church at Thorp, where their anniversary high Mass at 11:00 a.m. took place Sunday, the Rev. Francis Brockman, pastor, officiating.
An anniversary dinner took place after the Mass at St. Hedwig's dining Hall, with 230 relatives and friends present. Tables were decorated with yellow mums, with the main table have the traditional cake with "Golden 50." George Polnaszek, the couple's son, acted as Master of Ceremonies, recalling events of the past. Special honor was then given to the oldest son, Edward and his wife Charlotte, who were also celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary. A reception was held from 3 to 7 after the dinner, at the American Legion Club rooms.
For the celebration, Mrs. Polnaszek had an orchid corsage and Mr. Polnaszek, a yellow carnation boutonniere.
Thomas A. Polnaszek and the former Elizabeth Bogumill were married before the Rev. Fr. Pudlo. They farmed in the Town of Withee for 11 years and in 1930 moved to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), where they owned and operated the Club Tavern and Restaurant. They added to this by building a bowling alley in 1939. They operated the Club until 1951, and then sold it to their son, Edward. Mr. Polnaszek then had an insurance agency for 14 years, which he sold in 1965 and then retired.
Mr. Polnaszek was born December 9, 1896 to Paul and Jadwiga Polnaszek in Withee Township. He was educated there and farmed with his parents until 1917, when he enlisted in the Navy. He had been very active in the American Legion and held many offices at the local, county and state levels. He was a charter member of Thorp Lion's Club, and served as Zone Chairman in District 27C. He also served as a Supervisor on the Clark County Board for many years. He also served as Undersheriff of Clark County under Sheriff Ray Kutsche. He is a member of the P.N.A. Holy Name Society, and the Local Council of the Knights of Columbus, served as State chairman, "Design for 69." His hobbies are hunting and fishing, and still enjoys good health.
Mrs. Polnaszek was born October 27, 1898 at Thorp. Her parents were Joseph and Mary Bogumill. She received her education at Thorp and clerked in the Farmers Store, which her parents owned and operated. She has always been an active hand on the farm, and also in the tavern, restaurant and bowling alley business. She is an active member of St. Bernard's Christian Mothers Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary. But her greatest love is playing cards.
Mr. and Mrs. Polnaszek are the parents of four sons, Edward, Thorp; George, Mequon, Richard, Abbotsford, and William of Union Grove; one daughter, Mrs. Edward (Geraldine) Dober of Houston, Texas. There are 24 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Of the original wedding members present were: Thomas Bogumill Florida; Peter Polnaszek, Chicago; Mrs. Nick (Jenny) Strzok, Gilman, and Edward Bogumill, Thorp. Mrs. Helen (Bogumill) Slatke of Milwaukee was unable to attend, and Mrs. John (Sophie) Hule died early this year.
Helping celebrate were friends and relatives from Texas, Florida, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Union Grove, Madison, Marinette, Green Bay, South Bend, New York, Pennsylvania and Gilman.
Poole, Mr. and Mrs. Charles (55th - 1962)

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Poole observed their 55th wedding anniversary at their home on Grand Avenue recently. They were married in 1907 in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tyler. The residence is located at the corner of West Street and Fourth Street, known as the Felser residence. Rev. Mr. Rice, a Congregational minister performed the ceremony.
They went to housekeeping on Court Street and have been residents of Neillsville continuously. They lived for a period on East Fifth Street and in 1919 purchased the Thomas Lowe residence at 218 Grand Avenue, where they have lived the past 43 years.
Mr. Poole spent 20 years in the Wisconsin National Guard. He enlisted at the close of the Spanish-American War in Co. "A" Third Wisconsin. Although he never had done any cooking previously, he was made mess sergeant and he held the position during his entire service, at Camp Douglas each summer encampment, on the Mexican border in 1916, and in 1917-19 in France and Germany in World War I. After World War I, Sgt. Poole retired from the service.
Mr. Poole was born in Richland County, Sylvan Township on July 25, 1877. He came to Neillsville in 1889 and has made his home here since. He was a professional paper hanger, interior decorator and painter. Mrs. Poole, the former Celia Tyler, was born in the Town of Grant in the residence now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Blackman. When Mr. Poole first started, every home had wall paper on the walls. The trend toward paint came after many years.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Poppe were pleasantly surprised Sunday evening July 1st when a number of their relatives came to help them celebrate their silver wedding, which was the 28th of June.
A very interesting talk was given by Rev. Parisius before the assemble guests. Later in the evening a lunch was served. Those who were present at the celebration were Rev. W. H. Parisius and daughter Margaret, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Poppe, Mr. and Mrs. August Marg and family, Frank, Edward, and Hilda, and Mr. Frank Marg and family, Paul, Walter, Kurt and Meta, Mr. and Mrs. John Poppe, and Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Hemp. A social time was enjoyed by all and all wish Mr. and Mrs. Poppe many more years of health and happiness.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Poppe entertained over 240 guests at the Quonset at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) on Friday night, September 28, 1873, in celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary. Dancing to the music of Lenny's Diamondaires was enjoyed from 7 to 12, and enjoyed by friends and relatives. During the evening a mock wedding was presented for entertainment by the Poppe children. Paulette was the groom, Ronny the bride, wearing his mother's wedding dress of white satin and lace. Larry Klabon was the minister and the other children, Josie, Lori, and Danny Popple, and Ron's wife Yumi, and Kenneth and Bobby Knecht were the attendants. Refreshments and lunch were served to add to the occasion.
All of the original wedding party were in attendance: Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Knecht, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Lulloff, Mrs. Russel Martinson, Mrs. Delmond Olson, and Mrs. Edward Miller, and Mrs. Poppe's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Laabs.
The Poppes were married September 25, 1948 at St. Paul's Church in the town of Green Grove. They were blessed with five children and have three grandchildren, Missy and Lisa Klabon of La Crosse, and Ricky Poppe, son of Mrs. Ronald Poppe, who is stationed with the Navy in Iwakuni, Japan.

Relatives gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Poppe on Sunday afternoon, Jun 13, 1937, where a luncheon was held complementary to the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Poppe of Longwood, Clark County. The occasion was their 45th wedding anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Poppe are pioneer residents of the Longwood community, having spent their entire wedded life on the farm site purchased by Mr. Poppe in 1890. The both speak of the "good old days" when the modern way of traveling was over "tote" roads with a team of oxen, mail was brought twice a week by stage coach and the country doctor made his calls on horse back.
When a young man Mr. Poppe was employed in the logging camps in the northern part of the state, and in the harvest fields of the Dakotas. He also spent several years on the Jos. Gibson farm training colts.
Guests included the children and grandchildren of the honored couple. Two children, Robert Poppe and Mrs. George Wells, were unable to attend. Numerous gifts were received and a pleasant time was had by all. The Gleaner joins with their many relatives and friends in extending best wishes for many more years of happy wedded life.

On Sunday, June 21, 1953 one hundred relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Poppe to help them celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. The day was spent in visiting and playing cards, after which a buffet supper was served. A large centerpiece of lowers which was arranged by Mrs. Arnold Beyer, decorated the table.
Goerge Poppe, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Poppe, and Tillie Horn, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Horn, were united in marriage at Braun Settlement Church on June 18, 1913, with the Rev Siewart officiating. Their attendants were Mrs. Dora (Horn) Schumann, Gust Horn, Mrs. Della Poppe and Ed Poppe. The first two attended the 40th celebration.
The Poppe's have three children, Mrs. Art (Mayvin) Hendrickson, Greenwood; Mrs. Leroy (Violet) Wadzinski, Pittsville; Major Elery Poppe, Ocean Side, Calif. They also have three grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. M(bad copy) Porter of Riplinger observed their golden wedding anniversary on Saturday, August 17 at the Soo Grove schoolhouse, now owned by Orville Wickman. Mr. Porter is 75 years old and Mrs. Porter is 74. Both are quite active for their age.
Dinner and supper was served to about 115 guests. A beautiful arm chair in garnet leather was a gift from the couples brothers and sisters and an eight piece serving of American stainless steel tableware from their children. Many other gifts and money were received by the honored couple.

On Sunday, June 19, 1977 friends and relative of Emil and Elsie Potocnik gathered at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Dale Amacher, to help them celebrate their 40th Wedding Anniversary at an Open House celebration.
The party was hosted by their four children, Betty Nichols of Anderson, Indiana, Nancy Amacher of Owen, Sally Ewert of Belvidere, Illinois, and Dennis Potocnik of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, who were all present for the occasion.
Emil and Elsie were married June 19, 1937 in Neillsville, Wisconsin, and have lived in rural Owen and Fifield, Wisconsin before moving to their present residence on Fifth Street twenty-five years ago. They are both custodians for the Owen-Withee School System.

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Potter of Neillsville were married 22 years ago June 21, at the farm home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Brooks. After the wedding, Mrs. Potter planted some of the forget-me-knots used in the room decorations nears a small creek running through the Brooks farm in the town of Fremont, and these little emblems of friendship and fidelity have scattered their seed and spread their roots until the banks of either side of the creek for several miles down-stream are a mass of tiny blue blossoms. So dainty and lovely is the picture that hundreds of people visit the scene each year, among them the Potters. As this stream empties into the O’Neill creek, Mr. and Mrs. Potter may be able to visit their flower bed by stepping cross lots to the island below the Lloyd home on their fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Potts celebrated their silver wedding anniversary Sunday at their farm home north of Christie. Seventy guests gathered for the occasion, consisting of relatives, neighbors and friends. Wedding cakes were brought by Mrs. McKenna, Mrs. Homer Potter, and Mrs. Archie Van Gorden. After a sumptuous meal was served, Mr. Van Gorden of Neillsville showed moving pictures of some of his travels in the north and west. The highlight of the afternoon came when the "bridal couple," dressed in attire suitable for 25 years ago, tripped down stairs and paraded before the gathering. Her costume consisted of a long blue dress with ruffles at the neck and a black hat with a long, white plume. Their friends left their congratulations and best wishes after a very pleasant afternoon.

The family of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Potts, Sr., formerly of Gilman, held a reunion at the Huron Town Hall July 18, in honor of their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd D. Potts of Neillsville on their fiftieth anniversary.
They were married February 19, 1914, at Belle Plaine, Ia., where they farmed for six years. In 1920 they moved onto a farm 5½ miles south of Greenwood, where they farmed until 1944, when they moved to their present home in Neillsville.
A 2 o’clock dinner was served to 98 guests. A three-tier wedding cake was the centerpiece on one of three long tables which were decorated in gold and white and garden flowers.

Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Potts of Neillsville celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary February 19 by entertaining relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Potts were married February 19, 1914, at the home of her grandparents in Belle Plaine, Iowa.
They farmed for six years in northern Iowa, moving to Clark County in 1920. They located on a farm 10 miles north of Neillsville, which they operated until 1944, when they moved to their present home in Neillsville. After moving to the city Mr. Potts worked for the Clark County Soil Conservation Department for 15 years.
Two classmates, who were attendants at the wedding in 1914 and who are still living in Iowa, were unable to attend the 55th anniversary.
Mr. and Mrs. Potts celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1964, in Belle Plaine at an event which was attended by over 100 people.

Mr. and Mrs. T. Pratt of the town of Pine Valley (Clark Co., Wis.) celebrated their golden wedding at their home on Saturday last. They were married on July 4th, 1847, in Steuben Co., N.Y., and settled in their present home in 1868, then a wilderness.
Out of a family of four, three daughters are living, Mrs. Austin and Mrs. Pierson of Pine Valley, and Mrs. Hoover of Lynn. These daughters represent thirteen grandchildren. Five of these grandchildren are married and represent twelve great-grandchildren. The most of these with neighbors and friends from Neillsville were present and were most hospitably entertained by Mr. and Mrs. Pratt in honor of the occasion. Gifts, with congratulations, were heartily given with the wish that they be spared for many years yet to come.

Mr. Pribnow was a Soo Line Operator from 1916 to 1923. In 1923 he was a field-man for a vegetable cannery at Colby until 1939. In 1939 he had a insurance office at Loyal til 1953 when he became local postmaster til 1961 in that year he retired,

REUNION NOTES AUGUST PRICES’ 50TH JUBILEE
UNITY, WIS. - Commemorating the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. August Price, Town of Green Grove, a family reunion was held at the Price home over the weekend.
Children attending the anniversary reunion were as follows:
Ernest, at home; Mrs. Chester Vine and Mrs. Hugh Vine, Janesville; Edward, Milwaukee; Mrs. Warren Thomas, Wausau; Mrs. Ray Johnson, Loyal. Another daughter, Mrs. Frank Kovatch of Superior, was unable to attend.
Fourteen of the couple’s 15 grandchildren and their three great-grandchildren were also present.

Decorating the home for the occasion were bouquets of white and gold flowers, while wedding bells and pink and white streamers. The table was centered with flowers and a three-tier cake decorated in gold and pink.
Mrs. Price was presented a corsage of white carnations and pink roses to wear for the celebration.
The former Erna Schenk and August Price were married in Colby March 17, 1907. Since their marriage, they have lived on their farm in the town of Green Grove, which is now operated by their oldest son.

Mr. and Mrs. Owen Price of Merrill, and former Owen (Clark Co., Wis.) residents, who were employed for many years at the Clark County Hospital, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 15th, 1967. A 4:30 o'clock dinner was served at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ to about 200 guests, and later that night a dance was held at the Eagles Hall from 9 to 12.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Prill, residents of Neillsville for 27 years, were honored at an open house November 18, in Montello in observance of their golden wedding anniversary. The event was held at the Lester Draeger residence, where the Prills have made their home since 1955.
Those attending included friends from Neillsville, Montello, Edgerton, Milwaukee, Lake Mills, Princeton, Kingston, Markesan, Marshall, Oshkosh and Manchester.
An anniversary cake was the gift of two great-nieces, Geraldine and Virginia Draeger. A gold money tree was presented to the couple by Mr. and Mrs. John Garthwait, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Grebel, Gloria Garthwait and LaVerne Froeming, great nieces and nephews of the couple. Mrs. Lester Draeger and Mrs. Bernard Cragin served, and Mrs. Edward Garthwait was in charge of the guest book.
The Prills were married November 20, 1912, in the Springfield Town Lutheran Church. They came to Neillsville in 1917 from Elgin, Minn., where they lived four years. After leaving here they resided in Beloit for 12 years before moving to Montello. They have no children.

Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Primeau, Abbotsford, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a dinner and open house July 29, 1977.
The 5 p.m. dinner was held at the Florina Supper Club, with 40 persons in attendance. An open house at the Colby VFW took place between 8:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. The next day, a family picnic was held at the Erv Primeau’s in Curtiss.
A yellow corsage and a boutonniere were worn by the honored couple.
They were married April 19, 1927 at St. Mary’s Church in Wausau. Attendants for the marriage were Evelyn Primeau and Roy Ebben, both of whom are now deceased.
Primeau was born July 4, 1903 in Wisconsin Rapids to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Primeau. There he received his education. Before he was married, he did farming and mill work in Wisconsin Rapids, Arpin and Wausau.
Mrs. Primeau was born Frances Ebben on November 12, 1906 in Thorp. She received her education at Thorp, and at Wausau Business College. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. George Ebben.
Both are in good health and enjoy square dancing and gardening as hobbies.
While married, they farmed near Arpin, before moving to a farm near Colby in 1937. They moved to Abbotsford in 1964., leaving the farm.
He then worked at Wick Home for two years. Ever since he had been custodian for Security State Bank.
Children of the couple are DeVere, New York, Capt. Don G., Norfolk, Virginia, James, (Evelyn) Hyde, Ozark Arkansas, Mrs. Manny (Mary) Firnstahl, Colby, Erin, Curtiss and Garry at home. The couple also has 16 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
The celebrated was postponed from April to July because the family could not get together.

On Saturday evening, Feb. 16, 1952, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior entertained members of the immediate family and the Adult Fellowship in honor of the Silver wedding Anniversary of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Prior. Mrs. Clyde Grambsch, Mrs. Harold Hills and Mrs. Celen Gotter were assisting hostesses.
A beautiful three-tiered wedding cake made by Mrs. Clyde Grambsch and Mrs. Celen Gotter centered the dining table. Tulips, jonquils, and carnations decorated the home. Games furnished the entertainment for the evening.
Following the refreshments the honored couple were presented with an automatic percolator from which ten silver dollars were suspended on ribbons. Several other gifts were also received.

Loyal, Clark County, Wis. - Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior, who have been residents of this city for the past 31 years, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at a family gathering on Sunday, at which 40 guests were in attendance.
Bouquets of yellow and white snapdragons centered the table at the buffet turkey and ham dinner. For the occasion Mrs. Prior was presented with a yellow corsage for the shoulder line of her dress and her husband had a yellow carnation in the lapel of his coat. Other festive décor at the event included a three-tiered wedding cake topped with the gold numeral "50" and two large white wedding bells.
Other events feting the pair included a party in their honor given by the eastern Star chapter on June 3 and another celebration on June 5 with the choir of the Methodist Church, of which Mrs. Prior is a member, as hosts.
The Rev. Herbert Cockerill officiated at the marriage of Miss Annie Leonora Colby and Mr. Prior on June 7, 1907, in Crystal Lake, Ill. Mr. Prior, who was born Oct. 8, 1883, in the town of Sherman, Clark County, attended the Loyal Public Schools, after which he clerked in local stores. His wife was born Feb. 8, 1887, in Crystal lake. Their entire married life, with the exception of six years’ residence in Waconda, Ill., has been in Loyal, where they have been exceptionally active in all types of church work, which Mr. Prior declares is his "hobby", he has served for over 25 years as president of the school board.
Many gifts were presented to the Priors, among them a telephone call from their niece, Mrs. Gordon Bullard of Majove, Calif.
Their five children include Calvin Prior, Loyal; Mrs. E. R. (Oral) Giese, Galena, Ill.; Norman Prior, Marshfield; Mrs. Raymond (Muriel) Ewert, Crystal Lake, Ill., and Robert Prior, Loyal. There are 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Out of town guests present were Mrs. Mary E. A family celebration at their pleasant home on Main Street, June 9, 1957, marked the Golden Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior. Forty relatives attended the buffet dinner of turkey and ham with all the trimmings.
A three tier wedding cake, a center-piece of yellow and white snap-dragons, and large white wedding bells decorated the table. A yellow rose corsage was worn by Mrs. Prior and a yellow carnation boutonniere by Mr. Prior. Among the many nice gifts was a special cake made by a friend.
On the previous Monday evening the local Eastern Star Chapter had given them a party and on Wednesday evening the church choir, of which Mrs. Prior is a member, noted the event. A telephone call from a niece, Mrs. Gordon Bullard of Mojave, Calif., added to the pleasure of the day.
On June 5, 1907 Addie Lenora Colby, daughter of Ora C. and Emma Colby of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Ray Prior, son of Albert and Julia Prior, Loyal, were married at Crystal Lake by the Rev. Herbert Cockerill.
Mrs. Prior was born in Crystal Lake, Ill., February 8, 1887, and lived there until her marriage. Mr. Prior was born in the town of Sherman, October 8, 1883. Before his marriage and for six years following, he was a salesman in the general store here. The family then moved to Wauconda, Illinois, where he had a general store for 13 years. They returned to Loyal 31 years ago and have resided here since. Upon his return here he clerked in a grocery store. He was also an insurance representative and still retains the insurance work. He is always busy at something. To quote him, "I have not retired and don’t intend to."
Both Mr. and Mrs. Prior enjoy good health and are active in church work. Both have been affiliated with the Methodist church all of their lives.
The priors have three sons, Calvin and Robert of Loyal and Norman of Marshfield; two daughters, Mrs. E. R. (Ora Lee) Giese of Galena, Illinois, and Mrs. Raymond (Murial) Ewert of Crystal Lake, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Out of town relatives attending were Mrs. Edward Giese and sons Richard, Russell and Ronald of Galena, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Norman Prior and daughters Norma and Anola, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ewert and sons Robert and John, Crystal Lake, Illinois; Mrs. Mary E. Prior and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hironurus (Spelling?), Wauconda, Illinois and MR. And Mrs. Ken Smith and daughter, Janet, Marshfield.

Their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary was celebrated Sunday by Mr. and Mrs. Roy Prior. Their anniversary really fell on June 5, but the children could not be at home with them until Sunday, July 23. So they celebrated then, with all the children there, all but two of the grandchildren and all the great-grandchildren. All told 43 of the progeny joined in.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Prior of Loyal, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Sunday, June 4. The couple were married June 5, 1907 at Nunda, now Crystal Lake, Illinois.
A dinner for forty-five was served by the Methodist Church at noon after the couple and their children and families attended church services.
Relatives and friends gathered at the Prior home in the afternoon for a social time.
Mrs. Prior donned a corsage of pink roses and daises, and her husband a carnation boutonniere.
Ray Prior, son of Albert Prior and Julia Bartholomew Prior was born October 8, 1883, in the town of Sherman. He received his education at Loyal and before his marriage he clerked in Wiric and Mulligan and Colby Stores in Loyal. He served on the board of education for 26 years.
Mrs. Prior, the former Addie L. Colby, was born to Ora Colby and Emma Colby February 8, 1887, in Nunda, now Crystal Lake, Illinois. She was educated there and lived there until her marriage.
After their marriage the couple spent six years in Loyal and then 13 years in Wauconda, Illinois, where they were in a general store. They then returned to Loyal where they have lived the past 41 years. Mr. Prior is an insurance agent. Mrs. Prior enjoys flowers and reading. They both enjoy good health and are members of the Loyal Methodist Church.
The couple are parents of five children. They are Calvin R. Prior, Greenwood; Mrs Edward R. (Ora Lee) Giese, Rice Lake; Normannnnnn H. Prior, Marshfield; Mrs. Raymond (Muriel) Ewert, Crystal Lake, Illinois; and Robert K. Prior, Loyal.
There are 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Linus Prock, pioneer Globe family, was celebrated Saturday. An anniversary dinner was served at Club 10 for members of the immediate family. Special table decorations and a money tree were in keeping with the event.
Linus Prock, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Prock of the Town of Weston, and Agnes Quast, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Quast of the Town of Eaton, were married June 7, 1911, in the Catholic Church in Greenwood with the Rev. Frank Boeckman officiating.
Born November 7, 1880, in Globe, Mr. Prock attended Fairview School. In 1907, he purchased the Globe Store from George Rupprecht. After their marriage in 1911, the newlyweds took up residence in the apartment above the Globe store, where they lived for nearly 50 years. In 1957, they moved to Neillsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Prock are the parents of three children, Mr. James (Lucille) McConnell of Greenwood, Harold of Neillsville, and Mrs. John (Dolores) McKenzie of Davenport, Ia. They also have 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Washburn Homemakers had a surprise picnic at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Prosser last Sunday. It was a belated party in honor of the Prosser’s 50th wedding anniversary which was July 9.
(An earlier surprise picnic had been planned in July at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lifto, Iola, but it turned out to be bad, rainy weather so it was cancelled.)
Most of the members were in attendance as were the Lifto’s of Iola. Mrs. Lifto brought the cake, and all took a dish to pass. The couple were presented with several gifts.

About one hundred friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Prouty gathered at the town hall in Maplehurst, Clark County, Wis. on New Year's Day to help the couple celebrate their thirty-fifth wedding anniversary. The afternoon was pleasantly spent. Old friends revived earlier reminiscences with stories and songs. A bountiful dinner was served at noon. Mr. and Mrs. Prouty were given a beautiful set of silver knives and forks as a token of esteem and as a symbol of good will.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Provinski, town of Johnson, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Oct. 28, with open house to relatives and friends.
Two of their daughters, who were present, were Miss Margaret Provinski and Mrs. Foster (Ruth) Olson, Milwaukee, and the others are Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Blackburn, Mason City, Ia.; and Mrs. Joseph (Marion) Mollica, Milwaukee, who were unable to attend.
The couple were married in Colby Oct. 30, 1906. They operated a farm in the town of Frankfort until 1919; sold it and moved to Abbotsford. After a year they moved to the town of Johnson, where they still reside.
After retiring from farming, Mr. Provinski worked as a carpenter.
He was born in the town of Hull in 1882 and his wife, the former Ida Strebe, was born in the town of Johnson in 1887.
The couple received many cards and gifts.
Guests present for the celebration were from Abbotsford, Colby, Athens, Spencer, Wausau, and Marshfield.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Provinski, Abbotsford, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Oct. 30, at their home. Three of their four daughters were present for the celebration.
Mr. and Mrs. Provinski were married in Colby, and have lived in the area all of their lives.
Mrs. Provinski, the former Ida Strebe, was born April 20, 1887, in the town of Johnson. Mr. Provinski was born Dec. 11, 1882, in the town of Hull.

Mr. and Mrs. Ignatius Przybylski observed their 50th wedding anniversary last Sunday, July 3rd, 1966 at a thanksgiving Mass celebrated by their son, Rev. Francis Przybylski, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Hedwig's Chapel.
Edward Tomkowiak acted as commentator and Ted Przybylski as Lector at the Mass, and grandchildren Edward and Terrance Tomkowiak were Mass Servers.
Three grandchildren led the Jubilarians to the altar; Anna, Jose. Jr. and Robert; Theodore and wife Betty; daughters Cherie and Lauri, sons Michael and Mark. Marie Meske carried a basket of Golden Rose, Michael and Lisa Przybylski carried the traditional Cross-Cane and pillow with the Crown and Rosary.
The children, Dorothy, Theodore, Margaret, Theresa and Charlene (Robert's wife) took part in the offeratory procession.
All children were present for the occasion except Captain Robert Przybylski who is serving in Viet Nam. The children included: Rev. Francis Przybylski of Plover, Wis.; Dorothy and husband, Joseph Jedrychowski, and sons Joseph Jr. and Robert, and daughter Constance, and husband Joseph Massey. Theodore and wife Betty, daughters Cherie and Lauri, sons Michael and Mark, Margaret and husband Joseph Meske; sons Mark and Paul, daughters Ann Marie and Mary; Theresa and husband Edward Tomkowiak; sons Edward Jr. and Terrance; Mrs. Robert (Charlene) Przybylski; daughters Lisa and Laura.
Following the Mass, dinner was served to approximately 200 guests. Attending were Rev. Edward Masalewicz, pastor of St. Hedwig's, Rev. Chester Moczarny of Spring Valley, Wis., and Sister Francesca of Phoenix, Ariz.
Ignatius Przybylski married the former Ann Szerlong at St. Hedwig's Church July 4, 1916, Father Francis X. Pudlo officiating. The couple resided on the old homestead in the Town of Withee for 40 years, moving to Thorp on retirement.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Przybylski celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary Saturday, May 3, 1975 with a 7p.m. supper at the VFW Hall, Route 6, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
The bride of 50 years ago greeted her guests wearing a green and gold dress with a carnation corsage, gift from her son David and family. A red carnation was worn in the lapel of Mr. Przybylski’s coat.
Miss Sandra Przybylski, granddaughter, and a friend, Joan Anderl (?), pinned on the gold leaves and were in charge of the guest book.
The former Mary Gwiazda and Mike Przybylski were married on May 3, 1925 at St. Joseph’s Church in Chicago. The attendants of the couple were Ida Sluzewski (now deceased) and Julian Przybylski (not present).
The couple spent the first five years of their married life in Chicago, moving out on the home farm north of Thorp, where they farmed for forty years, and in 1969 they retired, moving to Chippewa Falls.
They have three children, Clarence of Chippewa Falls, David of Babbitt, Minnesota, Mrs. Leonard (Bernice) Wisniewski, of Gilman; seven grandchildren, Dominic, Dale, Geraldine, Roy, Sandra, Jeffery and Lisa, and one great-granddaughter, Sheila.

The 50th Wedding Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Przesmicki celebrated the 29th of May at their daughter's, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Rhodes at 3006 N. Nagle, Chicago, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Pscheidt of the Town of Levis celebrated their golden wedding at their home Sunday. A large gathering of relatives and friends were present. A fine dinner was served and a party given in the evening at the community hall.
Mrs. Roman Pscheidt leaves today to join her husband, who has employment at Butte, Mont.

A large crowd of relatives and friends attended the open house at the parish hall given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. About 70 relatives were served dinner by the Ev. Lutheran Ladies’ Aid at noon after which a short program was presented. Rev. James Stone was the speaker. Refreshments were served from a table beautifully decorated with yellow chrysanthemums and a wedding cake. Mrs. Henry Peterson and Mrs. Floyd Buchanan poured. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pudlas were presented a large number of gifts and money. Their daughters, Mrs. Alfred Thompson and Mrs. Tovio Kallio, were hostesses. The Pudlas family lived here all their married life.

Mr. and Mrs. Tony Puentes and baby daughter, Jennifer, of Hobart, Indiana, are spending this week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Nibbe. Mrs. Katherine Dignin, who has been in Chicago for the past few weeks, accompanied them home. On Sunday, Tony and Vicki celebrated their first wedding anniversary. In honor of the occasion, Mrs. Dignin treated the Puentes and Nibbes to a dinner at the Country Kitchen in Black River Falls. In the afternoon, the group drove to Red Wing, Minnesota, where they called on Mr. Nibbe’s brothers, Marvin and Daryl, and families. All enjoyed the beautiful fall scenery.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puffahl of Fremont at the respective ages of 76 and 77, each appearing as though they might easily see another half century of life together, celebrated their golden wedding Tuesday. Though childless now, to them have been born six children all of whom died singly in childhood. This wedding was largely attended and the happy pair received many useful and beautiful presents.

Celebrate 60th Wedding Anniversary
July ?, 1886, at Spencer at 8:00 o’clock in the evening occurred the marriage of Laura Gregorson and Ted Purkis, a young Englishman who was born at South Brighton. They made their home in the village of Unity and Mr. Purkis worked at the Spandling Mill. Their three older children, Eddie, Bessie and Billy, were born in the village. Later they bought a farm where they lived for twenty seven years and then again returned to the village where they now make their home. Mr. Purkis has served as the clerk of the Town of Unity for twenty-three years and also has served on the Maple Grove School Board for a number of years.
Since he came to the village he was? Assessor and Justice of the Peace. These duties he still performs, and ? too.
Mrs. Purkis has been afflicted with illness of one kind or another for several years, but is always cheerful and smiling, and carries her 73 summers very well. Mrs. Purkis will be ? in December.
Their family consisted of five children, Ed Jr., Oak Park, Ill.; Bessie ?, Milwaukee; Billy, who died in ?, Clyde, on the home farm, and ? of Chicago. They also have had 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, 13 of the latter being born ?.

Mr. and Mrs. Edward Purkis quietly observed their fiftieth or golden wedding anniversary at their home in Unity Friday with their children. A celebration had been planned but was called off because of the serious illness of Mrs. Purkis. Fifty years ago, Mr. Purkis and Laura Gregerson stood before Justice C. K. Richardson at Spencer, and took their nuptial vows, with Ben Griffen and Mrs. Richardson as witnesses. They returned to the village of Unity and shortly to the Purkis farm in the town of Unity, and a few years ago retired and took up their residence in Unity. When they moved out into the town of Unity, it was not the town that we know, of beautiful farms, fine homes, great barns, good herds, telephones, and electricity, but mostly a great virgin forest with small clearings, log houses, small barns, the pioneer work had to be done. Only those who have gone through those hectic years can rightly tell you of the hardships these pioneers had to go through with, when butter was 15 cents a pound, milk 60 cents a hundred and eggs 8 cents a dozen, but time went on and the country came into itself, our people prospered and looking back over that period of fifty years. Mr. Purkis and his wife find that the time has been short and full of pleasure. Today in their pleasant home they look back over those years with a great amount of satisfaction.

A double celebration was held last Friday night to honor Mrs. Chap Paulson on her birthday and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Puscheck on their 35th wedding anniversary. The two families got together at the Puscheck farm a mile west of Chili for dinner. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grottke and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Grottke of the Town of Lynn.
Ernest Puscheck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Puscheck, and Leona Sanger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Sanger, were married in the Town of Fremont Lutheran Church September 21, 1927, by the Rev. Mr. Plautz. They have made their home in the Town of Fremont during all of their married life. They have two children, Jeanette, a home economics teacher in Denmark, and William of Wausau, and a grandson, Robert, of Wausau.

Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Puschek of Chili will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday June 30. Herb Pushek and Ella Sanger were married in Oak Park, Illinois, on June 30, 1934. He is a Forest Park, Illinois, native, and she is Clark County native, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Sanger.
Ella taught school in Lynn for several years. Herb was a farm implement (International Harvester) dealer in Chili for many years. He was also a contractor affiliated with Butler buildings. Herb is a long-time member of the Neillsville Memorial Hospital board of directors. He is also on the board of Frist National Bank at Neillsville. Both Herb and Ella remain active in community affairs and are member of Grace Lutheran Church of Nasonville.
The Puscheck’s have two children, Mrs. Mary Kronberger of Wisconsin Rapids and Herbert C. of Alexandria, Virginia. They have five grandchildren.
A small family celebration is planned to mark the golden anniversary.

The 43rd wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Pyatt was celebrated at Stevens Point over the weekend, where all members of the family met, enjoying the Holiday Inn for the occasion.
Attending were Mr. and Mrs. James Peterson and sons of Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Baum and family of Stoughton, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Martens and sons of Seymour, and Eloise Martens of Wausau. The birthdays of Jan Baum and Darlene Martens were also celebrated.
